She turned up today She is a hefty beast but sounds stunning
just going to quote your post so we get another look at that picture!
 2. The problem isn't bass or music its your attitude to them and how it works with your faith. First of all my advice - lighten up, us Scots do specialise in the more dour end of Christianity - you might have an unhealthy relationship to it now but any talent you've got also comes from God... So I doubt you'll give music up forever - my advice, take a holiday from it. Declutter things you don't need, give all your bass stuff to a friend to store in their atic - and have a break till after Christmas.... And see how you feel about it then
 3.
Great reason and one I couldn't understand having never had that desire for one. Its when I see someone more my age group (25-30) describing these as their dream instruments that confuses me somewhat, but as you say, each to their own,
funny how things change eh Kev? When I started looking at basschat it was full of the older guys telling what was the younguns like us to avoid anything Fender from the 70's .....
 4. How do flaired ports compare in practice? Obv the effective volume of a port is larger, and I read a paper on how the flairing on both ends of a port massively lowers aerodynamic resistance in the port - in practice I dunno if it makes didley squat difference

 8. is there an equivalent programme to Bias for OSX anyone could recommend? i've a macbook but no iPad and would like to experiment.
 9.
I have 12 and can't bring myself to start downsizing though I know that I should...I think I can justify keeping hold of them by telling myself it's a buyers market and everybody else is selling so I can't expect a decent return at the moment...there done...I can keep them all!!
if the market is like that I would be a good time to buy a couple more if good deals come up, don't you think?
 10.
if Alex would make a class D powered big baby 2 i'd have my order in quicker than you can say chequebook....
yes. I'ld need to save up mind but agree.
 11.
This is my gigging rig - and the rig that has caused me to sell off (almost) all my other gear: Avalon U5 Preamp/DI>Crown Xti2000>BF Super Twin
nice - can you describe why you like it so much... and what boxes on the floor you using too!
 12.
...and you'd be wrong :-)
about the sunburst or the fender bit?
 13.
Hey gang There's a particular bass I'm quite interested in buying, and I spotted that a popular online and bricks-and-mortar retailer (I'm not going to name names. Oh, go on then - guitarguitar) have a couple of examples in stock.
so wondering what it was I just went on their website and looked for sunburst fenders to find out what it is....
 14.
I mean as in push the mids to the max level....mainly as the Bass Terror is then at 'flat' for mids....as you can only cut on it. You could always back off a little, and lower the bass as well. The tweeter/playing style/strings will have a massive effect on the treble and 'grind'.
linguistic confusion aside - that's a good point - it's very easy to set an amp "flat" and judge it on that - when of course depending on the design the thing might sound better after spending a good while setting it up. Also I'm surprised that OP didn't try mixing up the amps and cabs a bit more.... Like... I'll be honest I'm not massively sure what you're after... surely some of the cabs were closer than others.... would it help if you divided your tone quest into two - amps and cabs? That's how I'm thinking about my rig at the moment I currently run a ACME B2 - a very clean flat cab... but punchy I would expect a little less low end and maybe a low mid bump in the tone. The hellborg preamp I have going into it is very clean and clear and with a warmth you'd possibly like - but into the ACME it becomes a bit over clean and clinical (hence why it's up for sale). Say you ran that into something a little more coloured - A nice berg cab for example my guess is it would have more of the punch you're after. Otherwise, if you take the cab as your starting point, I like my ACME, it's not the most sensitive thing but it sounds good. Now if I took something a bit more valvey, or a naturally punchy amp and ran that into it, I imagine I would get the punch, and as much of the clarity as the amp produced. so take one bit of your rig you like (or have liked) and start from there maybe? (or get some kinda decent amp modelling soft wear/POD or similar and try lots of different things to see what you'll like - and go from there tonally - it wouldn't surprise me if it's some kinda SVT sound into a lightweight sealed cab (berg?) that might tick your boxes)
 15.
Try the Orange Terror through a more traditional sounding cabinet, with a tweeter. Two TC RS210's would sound great, IMO. DIme the mids...
not heard that one before, what does dime the mids mean
 16.
**New trade price £1000** Hi there. Due to unforseen circumstances I need to trade this set uwp for either orange, ampeg or markbass or whyg?? Cabs, heads or combos ??The gear is mint condition, still under warranty. Very versitile equipment, but i just need a more earthy sound. Pm me with any offers. Cheers. Mike
can you describe earthy? Quite a range of stuff you've listed there!
 17. if no pay (as the OP specified) I wouldn't be interested unless there was some cool innovation that I could work with the (product) designer to make happen. Aesthetically, as a (graphic) designer I'ld be up for it - actually while we're here shout out to ACG who manage to make visually nice shaped basses.
 18. that's a lot of gear - it makes me feel better about wanting to swap my rig around (again)
 19. 22 posts in and nobody's suggested you sell them both and get a barefaced yet either
 20.
Are those calculations taking in the excursion?
nope - didn't have that kinda data (hey I did your sums for you!) - hence my advice to keep them both!
