1. ot - but that bass reminds me so much of my old one!
 2.
Hard to tell, but is it called a Bugera Veyron?
front page of the behringer website is a car covered with a sheet and a countdown to NAMM... think you're right there
 3.
Not to most bass players, I'm afraid. Fender guitar amps are legendary, and the all-tube Fender Bassman models are just as iconic, and nobody would dare argue the impact of The Fender Bass, but few people will remember Fender for the solid state and hybrid bass amps they've issued throughout the years, even if they were great. I don't really know why, some great amps were among them (think of the TB600 and TB1200 and the great TBP-1 preamp). Whereas Genz Benz have a solid reputation both for their awesome bass amps and their ported guitar cabinets.
my guess is though that there are more 17 year olds out there looking for their first "big rig" to upgrade too than there are of us lot who know who Genz Benz is and already have an amp or two.... who do you think buys more stuff?
 4. unless the streamliner is being stopped, sp there is a factory in china somewhere all tooled up to make them. its not the biggest leap to think that one conversation with behringer, theu already do class D stuff with the inuke stuff....
 5. well the amp can produce about 130w, but trace elliot (old one) watts are very very loud
 6. check out the behringer website product list http://www.behringer.com/EN/products/index.aspx scroll down to "bass" - now that picture looks suspiciously like a new product... some kind of streamliner copy?
 7. GAK are tecamp dealers I think. I think the performer is an older range.
 8.
Whats your realistic budget?
unsure i think thats why i started this thread, im currently changing my rig so i can go for cheaper plans if need to. ive read the iem thread, but dunno, can i get away with headphones...
 9.
You've got a point there! It's got me thinking, what happens if Scotland goes independent? I would no longer be in the EU. But more importantly, there would no longer be an UK, which would mean it couldn't be Basschat.co.uk anymore. Basschat.org? That would solve your problem.
yeah, alister Darling said that - if scotland goes independent the Ped and pulls the plug and bans you all from basschat. (Peds gotta do it cos Putin will make him) One more reason to vote no.
 10.
Cheers, it does look pretty cool By the way, this will be collection only due to weight, unless you are relatively local.
you know you've not actually said where you are!
 11. So just found out.... our church is moving into a new building, well and old one, an old church that's since been done up. It's quite a nice modernisation with a big glass wall down the back so their is a room that can be used as a cafe and other things while the main bit doesn't need to be opened up/heated etc So a big stone room with a glass wall at one end. Thankfully carpeted. And we're going to play worship music in there - for those not knowing what that sounds like think your U2, coldplay, snow patrol type indie rock type sounds- musically most of it is pretty awful but the main thing is it's fairly loud and not organs.... right you with me? so we're going with no stage noise at all. Drummer in a box, no idea how electric guitar is going to be amped (pod probably) there's a system going in where each of us will be able to set ourselves our own monitor mix, all quite hi tec.... which leads to my question... I'm going to have a jack socket to plug in a pair of phones in for my monitor mix. Now in an ideal world I would buy some state of the art moulded IEM's - or I just could use any pair of iPod style headphones.... or anything in between. At the moment the only headphones I have is a set of Koss Porta-pros. what would anyone suggest?
 12.
This is probably what I need to hear. I have no delusions of grandeur. But my limits are hard to take lol.
anyone can do what they can already do. the measure of a person is how they approach the things that they currently can't do. Plus you're getting a nice new bass! focus on that!
 13. so what? honestly, and I'm being serious and not wanting to be rude, but so what if you can't do something? You'll never be victor wooton/jaco pastorious/mark king or whoever - you may never have a cd in HMV. But then I probably won't either and nor will 90% of this forum. Maybe if you practice you'll be able to make those stretches, maybe not and your fingers never will work that way - but you WILL improve as a musician. Django Reinhart changed the way people played guitar and he didn't have half his fingers- maybe physically you'll never be able to do x y and z on the bass. But that doesn't stop you. Enjoy your new bass.
 14.
At the risk of teaching you to suck eggs... That sounds like you've got it in passive mode and you've not found the passive/active switch. Does one of the pots pull up, that will then make it active and the other 2 pots are your EQ. Well that's how my SS1 works. It would be a steal at £750 btw. I love mine.
the bass with the switches is a 1985 thumb bass.... so no passive mode - the active jazz pickups from seymore duncan have 3 switches on each pickup, one is the resonance of the pickup, one of the others is an eq curve... but I don't know which is which and there is also a 3rd that I don't have a clue what it's supposed to be doing!
 15. send 2x18 a message - he's got some experience with that power amp I think....
 16.
but if you not getting noticed in the mix then that a problem that starts at the beginning got nothing to do with the pa? or if you get lost in the mix could be a sound guy thinking he needs to eq your bass a certain way. the sound from your amp really does dictate the sound your going to give the pa. andy
How are you defining getting lost in the mix? I agree for some sounds like we were discussing in your other thread the amp and cab add a lot to the sounds, but for others... when I was gigging more I lost count of the number of times the PA would take the bass DI before the amp- you chat about what it should sound like if you need but otherwise I've tended to just trust the PA guy's professionalism.
 17.
it depends very much on the sound you go for, if i when't to a cleaner amp it would defiantly be noticed in the mix the sound my swr amp had in the mix was very different to my orange. andy
but you go for a clean sound... well you end up with something approaching your bass... through a DI with a bit of Eq. The current preamp I used for the first time live today is based on a console channel strip - which is great - sounds good - but... you're not going to be noticed in the mix any more or less are you. Want be be noticed in the mix pick a mid freq and boost it.....
 18.
It's a shame there aren't more customers like you. We had a gent today who came in, unlocked a guitar on the wall (ie helped himself despite 2 of us asking if he was ok or needed help etc, to which his response was a flat 'no'). He then dropped the guitar (acoustic) cracked the back, passed it to me and said 'here *passes instrument*... Sorry', walked out of the shop and so we now have to recoup the items cost despite the damage which he hasn't paid a penny for. Personally, I think it's this kind of issue that is killing the high street music shops. They can hold less stock so don't get bulk order discounts plus staffing costs and damage of stock pushes the price of instruments up and makes it so difficult to compete.
I try and avoid going at weekend too, you would like me as a customer! That fella sounds awful. I get really annoyed with how you see some stuff getting treated. guitars especially.
 19. Bass amps are a funny thing. I'm in the process of changing my rig around, and been spending a lot of time trying to work out what it is exactly that I'm after. Anyway I tend to go for a fairly clean tone. It struck me while playing today that live and in the mix the differences between different rigs isn't that massive and that if you've got PA support then half of the things that you look for in a bass rig are redundant and there's a different set of priorities. anyway just my thoughts - I took the very nice helborg preamp today into the effects return of the roland combo - honestly it sounds nicer - in the mix.... I dunno if I could tell. .... makes me think...
 20. Would I pay a small fee to try out a bass? no- put this way, it's my money in my pocket they want me to spend- and if they want me to spend it with them they'll let me try things. I do have a policy of not trying anything unless a) I'm actually looking to buy or the shop offer to let me have a go first.
 21. I would suggest that ashdown heads aren't awful - make sure the pre shape button is out (i.e. off) to get rid of the muddiness. I don't like ashdown cabs at all.
 22.
Fantastic news! I'm working on the theory that when this sells, the next one up in your originals list must be next!
I'm wondering what rick's going to replace it with!
