1. so you're also going to need new knobs, tuners, strap buttons.... maybe think of it as black hard wear and a nut that matches your frets?
 2.
The other option is to put the head on the floor, behind the cab, once you've got the levels set and run the instrument lead under the cab. This has the advantage that: A, you're head cant fall to the floor and B, you haven't got that horrible bit of lead to stand on, where it drops down from the head, and potentially damage the jack socket in the head.
I played a gig at king tuts once where I was plugged into the DI box down on the floor next to and a tiny bit behind my amp. At some point in the first song I managed to jump onto the end of the lead and half shear it off- so if I moved the signal cut out.... I spent the whole gig stock still right next to the amp (and stage lights) for fear of loosing my signal. I only worked out what it was at the end of the gig when I unplugged and it fell to pieces in my hand! Moral of that story is that floor level isn't always great!
 3. I get the bit about the nut. Your JAN2 is broke and a bit rubbish- shall I get the brass or tedur replacement JAN3..... But I don't get the bit about the bridge... presumably the current tedur JAN2 doesn't match the brass alloy bridge you've got now... so changing the nut to whatever you want it's still not going to be the same as the bridge. If the option is between spending about 20 euros for a Tedur one - or 140 euros for a brass one, plus a new bridge..... I know what I would go for!
 4. warwickhunt has his Hellborg preamp up for sale - i've got one and it's awesome!
 5. Before everyone jumps in and says "oh they should pay, the rotters" Taking them at their word.... they don't sound like they know or think they messed anything up, and what they are saying sounds reasonable and like you would expect someone in there position to respond. I guess you've checked the wring and had the driver out to diagnose the problem? Also- if it's a fault that only shows itself after the cab has stopped working.... is it entirely possible that they could play their set with it and it's fine, and then you turn on and it's not? From their point of view it's hard to show that it was them who caused the damage. Could it have been something like they play their set at good volume, not pushing cab that hard, unplug bass without muting and that horrid jack coming out of cab sound blew it?
 6. no - it's cos they turned the replies off to stop people creating cheeky sales adverts....
 7.
As Wayne said, people generally don't criticise Barefaced on here much. Probably because of the aggressive responses they receive - as we see in this thread. "I waited five months, paid in full, and a month later couldn't even elicit an email from the company!" "Don't worry son, they'll turn up eventually. And when they do, they'll sound amazing. Did I mention they were lightweight? Oh, yes." "If you want a Michelin starred meal, you must be prepared to pay in advance and wait a month. Didn't you know that? Maybe you should have gone to McDonalds instead. Ho, ho. Lightweight. Light as a feather they are. I'll come back later and patronise you some more, OK?" "You should be grateful you're being allowed to buy them. I have my bass on my back, my Barefaced in one hand, and my walking stick in the other. Hey ho!" "What do you mean, the feet fall off? May your dick fall off and your balls shrivel up, you horrible piece of sh*t." "I have a SuperDuper 12 and I'm loving it. I go to bed with it and give it a good seeing-to every night. Have I posted a picture of it in my living room? I have? Several times? Oops." "What do you mean, you sent the money and haven't heard from them since. They're craftsmen, they are. And craftsmen should be allowed to craft and not be bothered with things like writing emails. Do you know that they are lightweight? Well, they are - so there!" "I waited patiently for five years for mine - and bloody hell, it was worth it!! You can knock a candle out at ten paces with these buggers. Pity I gave up playing in the time being, but my god, they're lightweight. Lightweight I tell you" "Sorry, I'm not having that. What do you mean UNPROFESSIONAL. I challenge you to a duel with pistols, sir. How DARE you!!" "My pal Alex was professional when I ordered my cab. So you are WRONG!" "Barefaced should put the prices up. I mean, £30 for carriage - that's too cheap. It should be £100." "I can't be doing with a cab that weighs 40kg. I mean, my back would give out if I just looked at one of those. Give me a B, give me an A, give me a, errrr..... what's after A?? Anyway, they're as light as a feather, and that's all that matters. End of."
sometimes I miss that stupid kudos/like button they trailed for a few weeks!
 8. I do find smashing up your gear on stage a bit trite nowadays - walking cliches of what a band is. Mind you I think the folk too scared of dings to take their guitars out the house are also in a similar bracket. (Edit: I mean, if they have souls it's the equivalent of battery farming chickens.)
 9. I've played ebony boarded fretted alembics. Warwicks have used lots of ebony on fretted thumbs in the last few years too. My yamaha BB1200 is fretted (possibly depending on wood translations) is ebony too.
 10.
Sorry to be pedantic but doesn't it also depend largely on the quality of the player - I remember someone on here saying they'd seen one of the top pros play someone's starter level bass and made it sound good. OP that's a great looking bass - nice score.
well yes. You won't find me disagreeing with that!
 11. contact them through their management first... then if that doesn't get anywhere name and shame. also you got a spare cab?
 12. Your options seem to jump from bog standard Leo fender designed mass produced bass right up to a custom made by one of the top makers. Either your heart is set on the fodera - in which case go get it, or there's a whole raft of custom made, or high end loveliness in-between a Standard US Fender and a Fodera. Actually looking at the price of Fender's now you can get a UK made custom for less...
Great resource. Thanks - I'll definitely use that a lot. "Total import duty & taxes due: £738.70" - scandalous amount isn't it.
You'll pay taxes and duty on the whole price including the postage cost... not sure if you added that in.
 13.
Irrespective of what they sound like they weight 40KG so why it would even get a mentioned in a thread related to specialist lightweight gear is a mystery to me.
cos Wayne is built like a tank and likes to strip down to his vest top.... and flex....
 14. My Warwick SS1. I had it for years and didn't get on with it. Every time I thought of selling it I couldn't get away from it's niceness to play. Sounded like a machine gun though. So swapped the pups to barts, stuck a few different preamps in there ending up on the ACG-EQ01. So now it sounded good - then took it to Alpher guars to get the frets sorted and set up... what a job and suddenly my bass sounds great and is a joy to play
 15.
Hi Luke. I'm on the look out for something at the moment and heard good things about these. It's a bit more than my funds will allow right now but trying to shift a couple of things so hopefully will be in touch if it's still around. Not planning to sell the Takamine though!
Glad to hear the taki is still getting played what are you trying to shift?
 16. someone I know has a board with preamp/DI and any effects and then then all in ears. Not a bad idea really.
 17.
I believe what I say sometimes,too. I'll never learn....
The thing that snapped me out of it was when you were raving about the RH450.... I went and tried one....!
 18.
It's not, though - I often hear descriptions of amps by people who haven't played 'em, without them actually acknowledging the fact.
I just take whatever you say as gospel though!
 19.
Just got to try out the CN112 with my Streamliner 900. Awesome. Extremely clear sound, can dial up plenty of bass or cut the mids to get a similar apparent bass boost. It sounds great. Apparently more bass is yet to come after it breaks in a bit more (according to Talkbass users). I can see what JTUK is talking about when he says there's a kind of 'dryness' in the mids (?upper mids? - can't remember the thread but remember him saying it). Really noticed it with an ash/maple bass. Easy to EQ out if desired with the Streamliner. Looks well made, super light. A definite standalone solution for small gigs and rehearsals. I'm going to try hooking it up to the IP112ER tomorrow and see if I can knock down a wall! Pete
You are getting through new gear as quickly as me this month Funkle!
 20.
This is something that really concerns me about suppliers. There is no excuse for ignoring a customer's emails. None whatsoever. No matter how busy you claim to be. I own a group of companies and our customer service is crystal clear. Tell customers what you will do for them - and then do it. If something happens. Tell them. If you are taking someone's money and if you do not live up to what you said you would do, you should at least explain the situation. Extremely unprofessional. Buyers beware!
I get what you are saying but disagree with your conclusion. I work for a company which started last year as two folk in a bedroom and then managed to do very well and we've been swept off our feet with orders, more staff were taken on - but each time we do the additional staff help increase orders again. We're now up to 12 hour days and the owners work 7 days a week trying to keep up. It's only been in the last week or two where they brought someone in to do the customer service side - before they couldn't afford to. I don't think its unprofessional, just unfortunate to find demand outstrip supply to such a degree you can't keep up with the emails.
 21. It's possibly cos a lot of us are british and have an inbuilt aversion to that kind of pretension!
 22. Did you get this from Luke R-V F? Looks great!
 23.
Yes, I AM excited. That's why I am still so passionate about music and musical equipment after all these years. When have you ever heard an artist or a sculptor raving about the magic of their brushes and chisels? It's all in the mind mate.
as an sometime artist, and sculptor... and having hung around with other artists and sculptors.... don't be stupid - of course we do! I lost my best brush, had it stolen I think when I took it into a school by accident. not been able to afford to replace it, it was quite upsetting. LukeFRC MA; BA(Hons) Sculpture. I'm lucky enough to have had a number of basses. Some are very well built instruments, some less well built but Some you find are a bit special, or magical your word, and you give them to other people to try and they go oooo too. I've found that in very very expensive instruments and also the bitsa I put together based on a squire MIJ silver series jazz.
