1. are you being serious? Most those variables i'm sure could be designed into a cab whatever the porting situation, apart from "How does the same driver react in sealed and ported cabs?" everything else is like asking "which is better precisions or jazz basses"...
2. I had (till recently) a Puma 1000 (the powersoft version) and was thinking of a BB2 - asked Alex and he said it would go perfectly.
3. I had the same DR fat beams on my P bass for about 2-3 years - sounded great. Then one day they really did die. Go buy some new ones, (oh and round core ones, status, DR etc IME last longer)
4. why buy then sell so quickly? the mind boggles
5. So a few days after reading this first I've come back to this thread.... something kinda bothered me - the singer is trying to communicate something - obviously doesn't have the technically knowledge to articulate what she means (and to be fair it's in one email not face to face convo) But the thread just ends up mocking her - in this weird kinda defensive leave the bass player alone, I know best type thing.... which is a bit rude to her, and... well I don't think that's how the best bands work... I play with folk and for instance can come up with different drum ideas, things that will make the song better, or maybe make more space for something the keys or guitar is doing. Right ask me to communicate that, how rhythm works or a kit works... I couldn't do that and would sound like an idiot. - but I would kinda like to be listened too, and have the drummer translate my random beat box/dance into drummer speak. I would listen to band members making suggestions about bass too regardless of their ability to communicate those ideas. That communication and sharing ideas is, to my mind, the difference between a great band and a bunch of guys making music in a room together. So to the OP - you're probably a better bass player than you think you are, loosen up a bit. But listen to the rest of your band - are you clicking in with first the drums and second the guitars. Unless you are the chill pepers or someone you probably need to talk, in a calm and normal way about how you can improve that, maybe different stage positions would help you hear/see the drummer better, maybe you guitarist needs to bring his stage volume down a bit, maybe you need to tighten up your timing - I dunno - talk about it - improve as a unit. Your individual playing is probably great- but is your sound for the band? you know what sounds good to you might not work in the mix, that the eq setting on your bass would be the first thing I would look at... change things and see what your band members prefer - you know what sounds best to you on your instrument might not sound great as a whole band - compromise a bit. Cutting the bass on the electric guitar amp might help you.... and so on. Your singer has a set of ears on her - she can help you.
6. If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends! etc etc...
7. firstly - oh no! secondly - what a bass! I've played this and it is fantastic!

11.
Lastly, with the exception of great dealers like Bass Direct [and Bass Gallery, Bass Gear, MBL... ], who love all things bass, if the stores in the UK are like those here, many of the floor people and salespersons have little or no experience with actual guitars or basses and many if not all have never done any work even on their own guitars, so they would have no clue as to how or what spec a bass is set to.
this... I read your second post, and was about to reply when I found you saying the same thing as I was about to in your first post. My local large shop doesn't have anyone on staff who can set up a guitar or bass. The nice secondhand bass I found needing the truss rod adjusted (a lot) didn't come home with me as I wasn't prepared to spend £800 finding out if the neck would go straight.
12. Tecamp cabs come in 4 and 8 ohm varieties at least the bigger one's do, dunno about the one speaker ones - but my 2x10 is 4ohms. like chris B says... if it makes a difference or not I don't know! (it's for sale btw)
13. groove.... she want's more low end and less high mids from you..... in other words - Get your bass out of my vocal range!
14.
Here's my home setup Happy for now at least!
don't care for the amp... It might sound nice I've no idea.... but woo nice basses! Old red looks great - and is the dolphin new too?
15. I would make the bit where the top bout starts raising again a continuation of the line of the bottom as it goes up towards the waist, and then curve it down at the same angle as the bottom.... If I were doing to I would have a wenge neck- so it sounded different to the thumbSC anyway it already looks better than war wicks thumbSC!
16. you've got used to the sound and feel of the other bass. Try new lighter strings and check the relief on the neck.
17.
I hate to be a pedant (or do I,lol) but we had fookin pages and pages about Barefaced taking the final payment money well over a month or two in advance of delivery, thankfully I gather everyone did get their cabs and Alex is conquering the world as planned
? hardly a custom product. Boutique or small scale manufacturer maybe but not custom. I've heard a fair few folk who don't like the cabs but never heard of anyone having problems with not getting them and no coms.
18. most Warwicks are a wax finish - so you want something like Warwick wax - Pure beeswax is ok but I find it a bit sticky on the hand. I've gone for Briwax which is a blend of beeswax and carnauba so a bit harder and not as sticky.
