And in Aberdeen is even higher than both.... although a pint is cheaper up here than it is "darn sarth".... it helps you to forget.
ahh aberdeen - exactly what comes to mind when thinking about high cost places to live. -
Lovely - wish I had the money! Nice guy but a sale of something of mine didn't come through so I can't buy. Crap ebay listing though. He will post if you arange courier or ask me nice and I can go get it for you if you don't mind me trying it for a few hours http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1981-Yamaha-bass-guitar-limited-edition-a-vintage-instrument-/181238563983
My understanding is that Fodera took on someone to specifically deal with the customer relations side of running the business. If that's correct, then the above shows very much that it is working. Of course not everyone can afford something like that as a small business...
If I were a small boutique bass maker, like fodera, or even small scale like Letts or something, I would team up with a local shop for each territory and let them do the customer facing side, they get a few instruments in stock for folk to try and so on. the public get to try your stuff, they're happy. the retailer gets a cut and a sale, they are happy, the builder gets to do less talking to the unwashed public - they are happy. -
such a lot of nice stuff around if you're looking

So i'm off work sick with a flu type cough thing, a week of battling through and my bodies decided I need a day in bed. and as you do that you sit and think (can't play bass, 1) cos don't really feel up for leaving sofa or bed and 2) wife also ill so asleep in bed... im on sofa with bob dylan on) I sold my JV this week, it should be delivered with it's new owner tomorrow. I didn't play it any more, that's why I sold it... but gosh I miss that bass - I won't own a better P bass again in my life I bet. It's odd, I've only set up the stand for them and found space to have all my basses out of their cases a week or so ago but now I go I and see the other two sat there... and for the first time in 10 years or so i've no P bass. It's sad and I just hope the new owner has as much fun with it as I do. Also when you do sell something.... suddenly GAS starts. I thought I would be well protected from this by knowing exactly what I want. It's so easy as someone who likes stuff and interesting stuff to suddenly want to pick up loads of different basses.... even though deep down you know you're not going to hang onto them - but they're interesting...... well quite well protected against that.... and suddenly I start questioning my rig..... maybe I already was (see my thread about the most amazing bass tone I've heard) but despite the fact my Tecamp Puma 1000 and M210 sounds brill and does me I suddenly start wondering.... do I want something more valvey (the H&K Quantum 600 I used to have) or cleaner, or some barefaced thing.... or why you never see the berg IP series up for sale... (that would be the ideal) and then weight... anyway. thanks for reading my ramble.

http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/aria-pro-ii-bass-guitar/1035615718#photo-content as the title says - cheap for a nice aria if you're local. I hate being sick and off work for a day, I find things like this
What?? Bass cabs have to be black - it's the law!
wasn't jamerson's live rig cab blue?
-
Rita has returned to her creator (well I fitted the Nordstand and the plate to be precise). I'm not letting her stray again. Peter
I think Rita must have been sold about a dozen times - but between the same 3 people!
Looks very like Tuff-Cab to me. http://www.bluearan....de=manufacturer
if it was.... it would suggest if you asked really nicely (and paid a bit more) that they might just come in other colours!

I have a hiscox case. It's great. It would be the last thing I sold.
-
But my recording isn't really going to show you the sound of the bass - also my ability to record and also how I play. Some guys on here can make bad basses sound very very very good (and me the opposite).
-
how are you going to use it? could you make a tone footpedal?
Thanks guys, going to talk with the seller later tonight. Also the advice on PayPal was spot on, as long as I mark the money transfer as payment for goods then I am covered by their Buyer Protection. So that's the line I'm going to go down. There is 3.4% charge for the seller but I don't mind paying that if I need to.
I've been keeping track of gumtree basses for a while looking for that elusive thumb bass (now i'm in a place to buy they all dry up) - really wondering what it is you're after! Q... is it north of the border and blue?
-
so..... the band made this video.... and the bass player was in on it..... my main problem- it's not funny- it's not even a good way to comically damage something - like -they hit it on a door.... that's not funny, or rock and roll... it's just... if you're going to smash something do it well.
