mind you - I used to do PA for a fella who had some fancy tailor acoustic - it had a stereo jack to XLR cable with it and apparently would give me a balanced output.... that sucked! My cheap behrinher DI box sounded much better.

so you're basically after a bass that has something like a line 6 pod built in? then use a balanced line out for PA? (and power it off the phantom power I guess?) ... or mounting an active DI box inside your bass?

I hope I'm not being rude here... I just looked up the price of Ibanez ATK300 secondhand.... could you not buy a sunburst one [i]as well[/i] for the price of refinishing the one you have?

[/quote] I found this in guitar shop in scotland when I asked why some of the reliefs were so out. Apparently quite warm in the day and then plunging to scottish winter temps at night - apparently one winter some of the necks were moving so much in the expensive guitars at the back the frets started lifting out.... which isn't great. You wonder how much it would cost to keep the room at a constant temp/humidity?

I tried 2x18's 4004 today. It really confused me - I couldn't work out what I thought of it. It sounded nice enough I guess but felt very odd design wise.

I was about to write "maybe you've over priced your bass" then went to look at what bass it is.... and man £1250 of a MM5 is the cheapest I've ever seen one! I think Warwickhunt had a good bit of copy in his latest sales posts - basically "try me for trades but don't be offended if my idea of the value of your bass is less than your value" - BUT i think with trades sometimes it's best to evaluate value to yourself more than what it sold for however long ago... I did a trade last year with a fella on here, one of my items for 3 of his- on paper I lost out - but he got something he wanted and I got one thing I wanted and two things I could easily sell - so we were both happy. If I were you I would write down a list of everything you would be interested in trading for and not trade unless it's something you really want/need/would use. I'll end with an interesting story about perceived values.... and how basschat doesn't really reflect the real world all the time.... a guy I found on Facebook was showing off his new bass. He had a Warwick $$5 that he had for sale at about twice what you would ask on Basschat. He ended up doing a straight trade for a USA custom 5 string spector.... which would sell for a lot on here.... both parties were happy. It's all relative!

Now as I understand it DSP can be used to programme your signal so that you can get the most out of your cab - multi band eq and compression so that, for instance controlling the bottom end of the signal, flattening out any Eq spikes and so on. That's how I understand it anyway. I know Funkle said he liked the way his Berg iP cab had a big fat bottom without farting out. So clever technology - just wondering if you had the knowledge and know how would it possible to programme this as a preamp to do the same thing.... ? http://line6.com/tcddk/

it's cos this is called basschat, and they are too trebly with not enough low end. (We all like Fender's here, except BigRedX who says he doesn't, but is in denial. We're helping him through it) basically in the 70's and 80's, before Rickenbacker had european patents or trademarks (might be wrong on that) some nice people in Japan made copies of Rickenbackers for cheaper and in many cases better than the original. Some of your favourite famous rickenbacker players had japanese made ones... Nice basses - rickenbacker later stopped production of them and other copies - as is their right. However, with little or dubious legal authority (in the EU), and many threats people with these old secondhand copies are not alowed to sell them secondhand without Rickenbacker getting angry with threats against Basschat, ebay et al.... Rickenbacker can afford more lawyers than Basschat so can't argue with them.... But to save you the time, they look pretty but are outdated rubbish basses designed before 50 years of progress on the electric bass, SquierLemmyLeeMacca were all wrong and modern basses are much better nowadays - although Leo (blessed be his name) got it right first time.... or something....

I bought a yamaha BB1200 from 1977 cos my low bid was the only one. Not quite £50 low but pretty low

I was even working out if point to point would be feasible!

mind you perf board isn't fun to make at all (vero I like).
