  1. [quote name='Lord Sausage' timestamp='1359205920' post='1951524'] I don't know if it's still the same, but a mate got in 10 years ago by doing a Phd over there and Teaching! [/quote] that's quite different to going over there to work!
  2. can I have a go?! Looks wicked! And well done for convincing Peter Andre to buy your first Andre signature model too....
  3. ask McNach he's done similar swap and knows his replacement pups
  4. [quote name='BetaFunk' timestamp='1359227462' post='1951964'] Those are all definitely future collectables but also very collectable now. I was meaning things that were cheap and nobody really wanted. I remember seeing Mutron 111s going for 30-40 US Dollars in the early 90s. Also all those Jedson, Columbus, Satellite and Hondos that you couldn't wait to trade in for the real thing! Don't know how long you've lived in Twickers Ray but i remember that Bells of Surbiton was full of those brands in the 70s and 80s. They'd be worth a fortune now! [/quote] a fortune? how much do you think a jedson will go for? factor in inflation too and they arn't that good.
  5. [quote name='Kev' timestamp='1359206777' post='1951541'] Nothing scratchy about it I'm afraid, had a luthier look at it today and it is very much a crack, probably caused by an over tightening of the truss rod, but the crack has been filled at some point and iv been told that all will remain okay providing I don't go messing with the truss rod unecessarily or try and play death metal with inch thick strings! The bass is setup nice with low action and plays really well, it's otherwise a stunning example [/quote] well if it works thats a good buy then!
  6. when I first heard you talking about them years back I went and looked up what they were.... this thread has a lot of info for your potential buyers... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/official-bolin-ns-design-info-registry-889478/ [quote name='warwickhunt' timestamp='1359205544' post='1951516'] Between these, the Dingwall and the 'Flowerpower' P bass I've got to make a sale soon! [/quote] you would hope so!
  7. I'm getting married soon, and looking at our post wedding budget it looks like I might have to avoid the buying and selling for a while - which is fine as I've got everything I need really. I wouldn't mind selling one of the passive basses and getting a thumb, but may have to wait 2-3-4 years for that [quote name='cocco' timestamp='1358929714' post='1947083'] All the JVs that are appearing are getting under my skin, those and the post 2010 P's it's so hard to be controlled! [/quote] Maybe I should reopen the thread for mine just to tempt you! Maybe I can get my thumb after all!
  8. I'm struggling to think of that many new designs for basses from the last 10 years that actually caught on... that Fender thing that Water of Tyne is selling... roscoe beck?
  9. My bet is that it's the same circuit and that the amp modelling is in the other two effects bays
  10. No advice, but Good luck! (and have luck moving all the stuff in your sig out there!)
  11. [quote name='BigRedX' timestamp='1359129691' post='1950385'] Does it really matter? So long as the bass sounds good and works as expected, is what it's made of even the slightest bit important? Here's another plywood bass: [/quote] yeah shoddy cheap looking thing too
  12. My guess is that you would be able to get a top UK luthier to make you two basses for the price these will be.
  13. [quote name='ferg36' timestamp='1359057955' post='1949289'] Bump for help with loading photos. [/quote] it doesnt work at the mo, upload them somewhere else and stick the link up in a image tag
  14. [quote name='BassBunny' timestamp='1359025242' post='1948550'] Not surprising as they are built by Cort who also make Lakland Skylines, (and also make for Fender, Ibanez etc.) I have a G&L L2500 Tribute and it is an awesome bass. As you say the build quality is fantastic and you really do get more bang for your buck. [/quote] ... what I was going to say... prob from the same factory!
  15. [quote name='Sean' timestamp='1352690177' post='1866215'] I like that Molotow site, it's given me some ideas for a unique paint job. The new project won't be a new Shuker, I'm just getting Jon to do some of the more dramatic wood surgery before I do the rest myself. [/quote] are we due an update sir?
  16. [quote name='Chris Horton' timestamp='1358978318' post='1948147'] If you owned this amp your gunna need to have your chiropractor on speed dial [/quote] well email. Your phone will be less usefull once it wrecks your hearing!
  17. [quote name='CHRISDABASS' timestamp='1358867504' post='1946278'] Bump [/quote] bump!
  18. Which sweet spot? The P bass sweet spot or the Musicman sweetspot? My suggestion - either tune it by ear to where sounds best... or let Leo do that for you and just copy his pickup placements
  19. WITHDRAWN what was I thinking?
  20. If you havn't.... er the MEC pre's do give it a certain sound that kinda suits... but for most cases their are nicer preamps out there.
  21. nice! (and how does it compare to the JV's?)
  22. [quote name='mcnach' timestamp='1358790055' post='1945068'] Hmmm, you think so too? I have to say... Fatbeams are the only ones I have been able to locate with a 45-65-80-105 gauge... [/quote] well the zing has gone and they lasted a long time..... let me put it this way, the fatbeams I had on my P outlasted the coated strings you sold me.... by a long long time
  23. My guess.... DR strings of some kind - thats judging by look and how you describe them.
