I play 4's, quite fancy trying a 5 - will it make me a better player?

There are different types of blend controls. 1. A normal "blend" pot Full Left - 100/0 Centre 50/50 Full Right 0/100 2. What you normally want, - they will be specified MN Full Left - 100/0 Centre 100/100 Full Right 0/100 3. sometimes you see ones designed for musical instruments like this. the MN ones are prob better! Full Left - 100/0 Centre 75/75 Full Right 0/100 The MN pot will let you have full control as you do with a V/V set up - the only down side to this is that yuo then have a second volume pot so this can alter the loading on the pups*. *Depending on the set up with how it works with an active circuit.

[/quote] my money on you're compensating for loosing the volume by hitting harder and then loosing the bottom end....

Find the best bass teacher around you- get some lessons on JUST playing technique to not damage yourself. Think of it as an investment

looks interesting. Makes me wonder why they don't manage their forests like we would do over here? Maybe we had the fortune of the government (forestry commission) running much of our forests.

So today I woke up and looked across my bedroom and there was no bass gear there (house share so they like in my room) It's a very odd feeling. It's all in my/our new house that I'll move into in a week or so- rented so no chance of wall hangers. We've ended up with the amp in a corner, one bass out next to it and at the moment the yamaha electric guitar out as well. In a cupbaord are the other two basses and the wee guitar amp. It's an odd situation - I can imagine I'm going to get fed up with it hiding away and sell a bass and the guitar or something - I just can't see the point in having things like that hidden away in cupbards. Or just wait till we move someplace else- I dunno. I guess it makes me think more about what I value in basses- the fact that it's quite easy to fill your time and brain with different instruments cos, well you need that tone or whatever - and while it's nice to have.... you don't need it do you? I kinda respect Chris2112 on that who only seems to have one bass at a time.
