1. should be fairly easy fix - I can't imagine they use high spec parts. Only thing may be how do you get to it? hopefully not through the F hole....
2.
Looking good, well done.
cheers! It was fun - turns out it's a kinda nitro I used - cheaper than "guitar nitro-cellulose" though!
3.
Looks good Luke, you know it needs the chrome covers though!
was tempted... but the best sound is either a smidgin in front of the neck pup or over the bridge so they would get in the way!
4. Finished - been meaning to stick photos up for a while. My other half calls it the tomato soup bass... as you can see why! you can see the bit where the bridge went on in the wrong place. oops. the red goes well with the vintage white and the chocolatey brown of the fretboard
5. why don't we all just tune the 4 strings BEAD and see what happens?
6. I had one bass. needed a P bass so bought that. Sold my first bass to buy a Warwick which I had wanted for ages. So had two basses. Picked up a variety of fretlesses and jazzes and stuff just to try. Didn't cost me much and I could try something new and sell it for normally the cost of a cinema ticket.
7. my guess is it's this one on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Overwater-J-Series-Custom-5-string-Jazz-Bass-Guitar-NOT-TANGLEWOOD-/181051504142?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a2782b60e to the OP - you need to give a sale price on here or the mods will just take your advert down.
8.
be good to see pics and a price
+1
9.
Thanks Luke - If you end up buying one I'll route a BiSonic sized hole in your JV for free! Just kidding by the way
hahha ! no ive a bitsa jazz..... Out of interest... could you PM me with how much you think they will be?
10. turn up with a single cut coffee table 4 string and see how that goes. Some people are just narrow minded, mostly they get called guitarists
11.
Or this US FSR, which is probably one of the nicest to look at Precisions I`ve seen: http://basschat.co.u...ision-fsr-l750/
what that man said (and he knows his precisions)
12.
You know my answer great year for them too as they were mostly made for them by Charvel and the quality is superb!
I'm guessing its a ray, were rhey made by different people at different times? And can you tell the difference in quality?
13. Look for a nice JV squier. Ask gareth, hes probably got a few more
14. wow that is nice I was in the bass gallery the other day and saw my first Wals in the flesh - they didn't half look good!
15.
I had one of the last trace ones. A CAR with matching headstock and white scratch. Was a great bass to be fair, sustain for weeks and could do pretty much anything tonally, one thing I will say though, seriously big old body on the thing! Didn't notice so much on a strap but sitting down it felt like playing a wardrobe.
when you ever played a wardrobe? isn't that a bit odd?
16. sad times, I didn't even realise you were still trying to sell the jazz. Beautiful jazz that
17. sad to see you put this up for sale mind you it was sad when you stuck your old jazz up.
18. adding the other pickup and the controls that you use WILL affect the sound of the P pickup - much like a jazz bass's pickups affect each other. If you look up the ways the stack knob jazz has been wired this is what you are proposing for your P bass - for less loading VVT may be better? Just get a stack volume knob and use the current tone knob.
19. he's been trying to sell that on gumtree for months.
20. If you are in London they have two in the bass gallery Camden at the mo. I went and had a play last week. Not too heavy. I would say have a play first, they reminded me of everything I both love and hate about the wood necked Status. I dunno what you're after but try Sadowsky for another "upgrade" of the fender Jazz too... They were originally made for Trace Elliot by status with the wood necks and then years later Status brought out their own version with the graphite neck.
21.
Here it is Chris, Father Christmas bought me a batch of String Swings (my good lady never fails to deliver!!!), so a couple of hours this morning, and the wall is complete, from left to right: '52; '56; '58; '60; '66 Slab. there's a few tweaks to do, the '52 needs the covers, and the '56 needs new strings (in the post). I'll add another pic when the strings and covers are fitted. I think it looks pretty cool. Closer up (Excuse the crap photography!)
woah look at that!
