1.
They are better than nice mate. This is a close cousin of mine (mines tulip wood body & rosewood 'board, Dimarzio Ultras) so a little more '60s jazz than I'd imagine this is especially as mine has the stock J-Retro with the inbuilt eq curve. But in terms of playability and build quality, you have to go a long long way to better an Overwater imho
yeah - the overwater jazzes seem to be really highly desired - this is one of the nicer ones I've seen (too many with too much custom option bling)
 2.
Does this count? Always wanted one to match my '58 P, love it, they're actually much smaller than I thought, cute little tweed case too;
there's a saying about showing off when you're under endowed.... (PS rick this isn't a PM )
 3.
Good choice of new bass! Hope you find a good one ps fancy selling your SS1 yet?
Hi man I've found a good one, from 1987! Just need someone to buy this first - so far - little interest and in a short answer..... no
 4.
Good things come to those who wait!! I have two weeks off at xmas, starting next Thursday, so will have a look then, I still need to locate a good picture of what wires go where, it's been a while! Been playing it unplugged today, it's awesome!
It's a P bass! It's got one pickup with too two wires - ground to the body of the volume, then the live to the centre lug of the pot. Simple! My guess the vol and tone are already connected?
 5. how have you not soldered it together yet? I no way have that patience! I wee build I'm doing the only way I knew that I would let the finsih cure for long enough was leaving it a week before ordering the parts!
 6. Went to enter - found out I already had. Chance of winning.... 1000000000 to one!
 7.
I'm surprised this topic is still limping along. Surely there's nothing more to say after this:
mate theres another thread that was about pricing of secondhand stuff, stingrays and warwicks in particular and it's still limping along full of people saying things like "I like stingrays" I like stingray's too" "i think they are very good" "I like their necks" etc etc some threads will go on an infinitium until someone gets compared to a Nazi
 8.
it is a bargain .. thinking about it now but, I wan't my LMIII
wan't ?? is that bradford dialect?
 9. Woah, keep calm. I think the thing is that its a good price but not so good you would take a risk without seeing it, warwickhunt has sold me a ss1 for less in the past and he had his advert up for about 8 montha before I found the money. Considering the scratch/crack is just behind the nut (ie one end of the truss, and in a similar place i hope you understand folks hesitancy. I dunno about other folk but coventry is over 100 miles away from me and not a cheap trip. you stuck an ad up and got 10 responces, that's ten more than. Ive got for a bass with no issues!
 10.
I've just broke me underpants.
that could be understood in many different ways!
 11. Is it time for another bump? Just about Have I been snowed under with offers and people clamouring to get this bass.... No. Is is a fair bit rarer and about 25% less than the 1982 US P bass folk were talking about in the bass forum. Probably.
Nice haul!!
I know, Would have been nice to see in real life.
best ad i've seen on here
thanks
A truly beautiful example of a JV. All the best with the sale Luke!
thanks again!
 12.
I wonder how they age? I've got a Jazz that I finished in Nitro a while back and its already starting to check & look aged. Just need the hardware to catch up. Your right about the price though, I used two clear and one colour & £15 a go plus primer. Ouch!
yeah I'm wondering the same! I guess I'll find out!
 13. hopefully maybe I'll be adding a JD thumb to my collection soon, fingers crossed
 14. 106 seems a bit low. are the sums right? I would think that there could be other things that I would try first before modding a preamp.... does you cab have a tweeter in it? turn the bright switch on and turn that down (or vice-versa)
 15.
That said, Alembics all seem to have a distinctive 'attack' - difficult to explain, but it's like a slight 'crunch' or 'quack' at the beginning of the note, and a very quick response, which you either like or you don't. You can tame it to some extent through filter adjustment and modifying your technique, but it's difficult to remove completely. So make sure you like that aspect of the sound before you commit!
If you look at a chip used in an active filter you'll often see the manufacture give a few sample schematics for different filters - along with graphs and plots showing what it's doing - you can see this slight effect on the attack on these
 16.
I'd love to own an obbm speaker cable, now where do I sign up?
wahhhhayyy!
 17. oh boooger, no use to me, I use speakons
 18.
Massive respect for Chris, what a nice guy he is!!
+1 and outstanding with the setup of basses. He did my frets and... they are perfect.
 19. Hung the body up while the finish hardens. So doing a bit of research... the molotow sprays I've been using seem to be typical guitar nitro but with a plasticised resin or something. They are easy and fun to use thats for sure. oh and £3.50 each rather than the £15 -20 for "guitar" nitro..... know which I would go for!
 20. My electric guitar is mahogany. Transparent red finish- lets the wood show - yet doesn't look like a coffee table.
