a keyboard synth?

sounds great- really great...but, really really reliced? why?

voted... I won't say who for (though it may tell you) but it pushed a really nice entry from Stephen Houghton down to second place in my estimation

my old band the guitarist used to use this big old heavy fender amp, right pain in the arse to move around - always mic'ed up of course cos that the best way to do it for the larger venues we used to play. One day we were helping a headline band we got on with with their load in, similar sound - we'ld heard them and they had a similar set of guitar sounds going on as us. Well I reach into the van and pull out their fender blues jr amp thing, hold it with one arm and the guitarist and me look at each other and he goes "bugger, when I was 15 I thought a big amp would be cooler"
Board oiled, I left it for 20 minutes or so to dry and grabbed a coffee.....
what brand coffee do you use for your rebuilds?

there are folk who buy and sell their gear more than I do, so something becomes fashionable then folk will buy it - a few years back everyone wanted Lakland, then Sadowsky and so on... give it a couple of years and maybe they are looking for something different and put it up for sale. Thing is all it takes is one person to do it and there is a price point that people can work around so people are more likely to list. Thats what I think anyway. I mean at the moment, even with my half withdrawn ad there are abotu 6 or so JV squiers on offer. A while back there were none (mind you none have sold yet!)

Anybody know what has happened to Wizard?
Aah, interesting. Yea, the less people i have to rely on the better and I do enjoy those pickup winding days (today) in a dust free zone with some cool tunes. Bliss. So that's 3 generations of Armstrongs making guitar stuff! Awesome! I hope I can get my kids interested eventually. Is 6 too early for sanding duties?
dunno, depends on what it's sanding and dust masks... maybe buffing a finish would be more appropiate. "no dinner till you can see your face in it" .... -
Would like your opinion from your side of the pond..
Subjective. I like it. Plus we need more instruments that don't keep regurgitating the designs of the 50s.
agreed, but I don't think it balances with itself the back half it too curvy or the front half is too pointy, I would go more pointy - I would move the apex of the bottom rear curve back a bit and make the angle sharper -
Nah it's not connected, thankfully!! Cheers
Ped, et al question.... the old sales forums had some nice terms and condition which you had to abide by - where are they on the new one? Reason I ask is there currently is an item up with a price of £0.00 and asking for offers. Naturally I offered him the £0.00 he had stated but wondered what the rules were in the new sales forum - has it changed at all?

Build a stingray preamp clone in the OLP - you'll unlock a load of different tones and find a reason to have more than one. Also they (should) sit in different places in the mix. I used to pickup whatever of my 2 basses fitted better in the mix.
-
stick one of the musicman preamp clones in it and you are away!

I don't think heavy wood = heavy tone works in real life. I've played ash basses that weigh nout and they have been really fat sounding and heavy basses with a flat thin tone. Even if it did make a massive difference then you could make up for it with how you designed your pickups. My guess is that if you go and play a Lull or something, for the price they sell for, I think they will have built a light bass that sounds good so you don't need to worry!
Kent's son? The kent armstrong custom pups are very very reasonably priced.
Yeah, he makes ACG and i think Overwater's pickups. I thought he made yours too but I must be wrong! Don't you make your own pups now? -

I never actually went ahead with an order but I asked Aaron Armstrong about some custom pickups and he was way more than helpful if you want a UK alternative to Wizard -

the designer in me would redraw that body shape slightly. It's ugly at the mo, not far off but get someone with a visual eye to look at it. -
good name for a band that. If you come up with a logo go lowercase (that's the designer in me there!)

woo! that is a big bundle of stuff for not that much!
Aww guys Of course it would be incredible to win a custom bass, but I can happily say that what I've gained from writing and recording this piece is something that is beyond all the winning and losing and competition. I've made some music that I love, it was enormous fun and very challenging, and frustrating at times. I am 100% better as a musician for it. There is some superb music in this thread that caters to a lot of tastes, someone will win, and they'll fully deserve it Thanks again, you are very kind
you can give the bass to me if you want then it's a good piece.
Ok here's mine. It was FUN! You Can't Touch Me Now (or .. The Day of The Dead Demon Fiddler) http://soundcloud.co...-me-now-the-day
that was awesome!
How did you wire it?
my guess is one pup to one side, the other to the other and the centre into the volume! -
stick a lead in (if jack lead) take the other end of lead - measure resistance between tip and sleeve of plug with multimeter. That should work.

is that off a battery or a power adaptor? If power addaptor try it with just the battery- otherwise I suspect it's the power supply rather than the pedal. if that doesn't work I would open it up and check nothing is touching anything it shouldn't - it's a great wee pedal- or I guess it is, I built one myself, the cuircuit is basically a transitoriesd ampeg SVT
