1.
You know my answer great year for them too as they were mostly made for them by Charvel and the quality is superb!
I'm guessing its a ray, were rhey made by different people at different times? And can you tell the difference in quality?
2. Look for a nice JV squier. Ask gareth, hes probably got a few more
3. cheers man - some great stuff there!
4. wow that is nice I was in the bass gallery the other day and saw my first Wals in the flesh - they didn't half look good!
5.
I had one of the last trace ones. A CAR with matching headstock and white scratch. Was a great bass to be fair, sustain for weeks and could do pretty much anything tonally, one thing I will say though, seriously big old body on the thing! Didn't notice so much on a strap but sitting down it felt like playing a wardrobe.
when you ever played a wardrobe? isn't that a bit odd?
6. sad times, I didn't even realise you were still trying to sell the jazz. Beautiful jazz that
7. sad to see you put this up for sale mind you it was sad when you stuck your old jazz up.
8. adding the other pickup and the controls that you use WILL affect the sound of the P pickup - much like a jazz bass's pickups affect each other. If you look up the ways the stack knob jazz has been wired this is what you are proposing for your P bass - for less loading VVT may be better? Just get a stack volume knob and use the current tone knob.
9. he's been trying to sell that on gumtree for months.
10. If you are in London they have two in the bass gallery Camden at the mo. I went and had a play last week. Not too heavy. I would say have a play first, they reminded me of everything I both love and hate about the wood necked Status. I dunno what you're after but try Sadowsky for another "upgrade" of the fender Jazz too... They were originally made for Trace Elliot by status with the wood necks and then years later Status brought out their own version with the graphite neck.
11.
Here it is Chris, Father Christmas bought me a batch of String Swings (my good lady never fails to deliver!!!), so a couple of hours this morning, and the wall is complete, from left to right: '52; '56; '58; '60; '66 Slab. there's a few tweaks to do, the '52 needs the covers, and the '56 needs new strings (in the post). I'll add another pic when the strings and covers are fitted. I think it looks pretty cool. Closer up (Excuse the crap photography!)
woah look at that!
12. straying here from the bass world it's like a whole other world here!
13. with what it would cost to do all that work.... what's the difference between that and selling this and getting a new one made?
14. Aww I had a blue one of these once. Exceptional basses - they differe from the normal '75ri in that they tend to have alder bodies so a bit more meaty sounding than the '75ri which can sound a bit thin. Good luck with the sale. (great price btw)
15. have a bump on me - merry christmas TheGreek!
16.
PM'd
be tentatively interested too... great work btw
17.
AS above , what's the trade value ?
it says £1000.....
18.
Trade or sale we still need a price please
he put one in at the end
19. check the "items wanted" forum...
20.
Except it seems these days that everyone loves to message the seller telling them that they have a rare one of a kind worth a chunk of money bass etc...
which is odd. Cos they are worth that much... until you have one you want to sell... and then funnily no one with money is interested!
Just with the P/J pups, P/J controls, slim looking nut and good hardware. Didn't know there were JV's like that. There again, I know nowt about nowt Thanks lads, Karl.
If you go to my sale thread and look at the photos in the link to photo bucket you can see my one which is original - I'm pretty sure the hardware and nut look right to me at a glance - I htink the PJ and the extra control will be the main differences
21. Looks right, pups changed. Could be a good buy as a player- if I were you and you want it PM the seller, find out if you can go try it and if he/she has a BIN price.
22.
The main thing putting me off the 15 would be... The thought of carrying it. The 12 isn't particularly heavy, but it's bloody awkward. The 15 would probably bruise you the death :-)
do you use yours for the bigger gigs you do?
