1.
MB1. Offers? Get a price on this before its deleted ! Or am I missing something here?
ahh yes oops the perils of editing on the smallest smartphone screen ever made! I took the price down when I withdrew it and forgot to stick it up. £1200 is the same price as ricks..... but will listen to lower offers other things up for offer.... Bass Pod (£80ono), or even my yamaha SG400 (£450ono) or mini line6 guitar amp (£50)
2. So the bass. im after is still available and, well I'm tempted to put an offer in on it... so ill listen to offers on this if there is any interest even if below my price, got a bass pod I can add to sweeten any deal, yeah. Let me put it this way, I doubt there is a better passive fender bass on basscha this year. Try it out at mine in Leeds, (or can go. to edinburgh with me this weekend if you pm me tonight, ill be free sun afternoon)
3. £60 anyone.... or offers? is this even an effect? should this be in one of the other forums? is anyone looking at this? is anyone interested? should I stick it on ebay? who knows?
4. Depends how early, what model etc...
5. bump... can be in edinburgh this weekend! or I can post!
6.
Weight is a big issue for me nowadays, and so whatever bass I buy has to be a light example of that particular model- obviously, some models of bass are going to be inherently heavier than others. I have hardly seen any four string Stingrays made in recent years that were as light as your 5 ; they tend to be closer to 10 pounds more often than not in my experience , thats why I opted for a Reflex with humbuckers when I was looking for an EBMM to do the Stingray thing. . When I had my Reflex made for me I requested a light one , and mine is the second -lightest I have ever seen. Its still not as light as your five strings, though. 5 string EBMMs that light are like gold dust , and definitely keepers.
ooooff this is one of the things that put me of any stingray - my current basses range from 7.8 - 9 pounds - over 10 seems very heavy - my old T40 was about 13 pounds....
7.
Never mind the bass gimmickery, what a bloody awful tone for the lead guitar break...
yeah- didn't quite fit in did it. Loved the song though - though if you told me it was from a Eno produced U2 album from between Achtung Baby and Pop I would have beleived you!
8.
Well you should be reassured that you have a Stage 1 for your modern tones and a Precision for your vintage sound . I like thumbs (electronically) but I hear they're uncomfortable to play in comparision with a Streamer - apparently feel like making your way round a 35" scale.
Aw that's a nice point thanks
9. yes. It's painful reading but the thread with Wishface trying and failing to set his bass up had lots of good tips.
10.
Please tell me why folks think they can buy gear, use it for a few months and then make more money than the dealer did...in the present economic climate.....
Because the most important thing for the dealer is the difference between the price they buy it in at and the price they sell it at before the VAT is added. the whole thing about something being 'demo' to lower their price isn't the issue- a shop can lower their prices (and profit margins) anytime they like. Most of the big distributers though (I hear) don't like their stuff advertised for less than the list so put pressure on shops not too. Now someone working in music retail will correct me on the margins- but based on someone who told me a while back, if a bass costs a shop £400 they will sell it for £1000 or so. 20% of that is VAT and then the rest if profit. What it goes for secondhand is immaterial but the idea that buying something and then selling it for less is more than the dealers profit margins is daft. Anyway- the way the price of instruments has gone up you're as cheap to get a custom made in the UK as go through a shop to buy a fender. We should all buy ACGs!
11.
Not a clue. I find line 6 stuff a bit complicated though. I find it odd that this doesn't exist. To me it seems like a great tool. How hard could it be to add a drum machine to a micro head?
depends how good you wanted it to sound and how fleible. Agree on some line6 stuff used to have a pod xt live very complex, just got one of the original bass pods in a trade, need to sell it but mercifully simple
12. Here's a few questions: who here if they won the lottery would not maybe buy one bass? And who here has ever. bought a bass off someone with more income than you, and more basses than you? If people with money want to buy lots of basses, well it makes it cheaper for the rest of us and keeps smaller luthiers in business
13. Can deliver to Edinburgh on Sunday. Price drop to 60
14. Maybe its a signature model and has a silk screen of his scribble on it or something?
15. ahhh i think I found your pup sale post and sent you a PM - I should have realised that they were the same ones as on this!
16. ? in my experience over many years secondhand stuff on here is 25-30% cheaper than a dealer... for secondhand stuff.... at the moment you can pick up a USA fender for about £500 - tell me where there is a dealer selling new ones for 10% more than that!
17. did the Line6 bass pod live XT have a rythem thing built in?
18.
great price too.
please... don't keep telling me!
19. nice. What do you use to cut the frets? that's the one bit I know I would struggle to do with accuracy.
20.
I'm in need of a decent but not too pricey headphone amp. I want it to have Bass in Headphone socket MP3 in Volume & basic EQ Built in drum machine If it can double as a head loud enough for a small-medium venue (into a 4ohm 2x12, even better. Does this even exist?
drum machine would be the thing that you may struggle with... laptop with one into the line (mp3) in could work instead.
21. you like one tone... but want a versatile alternative? something there doesn't make sense
22.
Obviously you are now my favorite BC poster of the week for this comment
have a look at the thread I just posted.... originally I was interested in the ACG harlot... and the multi wood single cut design.... well that bass is stunning stunning stunning looking- and although I am a fan of Alan's work to look at I think it's the best looking bass he's ever made - and I looked through his entire website to back that up! Then that bass came up on ebay... and well- another classic design and in a fight I know which one I would go for.... but as it happened a pottential sale of my JV didn't happen and... well maybe one of them will still be available in a few months?!
