1. having just listend to that all my thoughts: good enough that I didn't turn it off not bad... but.... don't you think they skimped on the production/instumentation a bit? in the verse it works but then in the chorus and onwards it just feels like someone couldn't be bothered.
2. one thought.... bongos look odd.... but a fan fret bongo could look amazing
3. If its brand new get the shop to fix it?

5.
I expected this to be a topic on your partners digestion problems I never have Bass Gas problems as I don't see any point in owning more than 2 basses at any one time. Mrs Prosebass does however complain constantly about my general gas problems
aye. but you have the benefit of being a very skilled, if retired, luthier- so can not only build what you but also see through a lot of the GAS indusing guff we fall for. I'm getting married next year and we had a convo about how in the last few years I've been lucky enough to own a fair few basses, and pretty much everything I want to try i have. (jd thumb being the only one i still want) I was talking to the wide-to-be about the fact. I've got it out my system and she seemed quite disapointed! mind you i dont see the need for lots of instruments personally- other folk I get why they do, and some have impecable taste (warwickhunt and stacker im looking at you.) mind you. the best instruments get better once you have played them every week for 2-3 years...
6. looking good, what did you end up using as grain filler?
Oops! Probably Sen Ash or Alder I believe. Alex
not sen, sen looks like this:
7. yes they do
8. do overwater basses have "design" at the end of thier logo like that?
9. audere preamp and dimarzio pups
10. warwickhunt is a great guy, but everytime I come to this forum his profile pic is always here - since 2009 - and I just got a bit tired of thinking there was some really interesting post he added too.... mind you this hasn't been used since 2009 maybe time to unpin it?
11.
Ash. Were all either ash or ash/alder sandwich.
this says mahogany, I guess judas wood is facings. http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=34&now=3
12. Oh that's kinda disapointing. I would have put money on of the two basses I traded, my jazz turned out to be a turd of basswood laminated with some kind of plastic stuff and your one would have been solid wood.
13. lacking in output.... set them nearer the strings? Otherwise you want a higher output type sound? If I could go for any pups it would be nordstand
14.
Can I have a bit of advice on this bass please as it's something I'd be interested in? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e73b12bb4
Jon Bassassin had one of them and swore by it. Good quality stuff, actually with a realation to Ibanez and the body wood on that model I would expect from memory to be mahogany. With new tuners and bridge.... I would say it's probably a nice instrument
15.
Does it ? news to me, I love the stuff, some great finishes. Its actually called Plasti-Kote for the pedants among us.
question - as I'm willing to be proved wrong in everything I've said.... Plasti-kote colours comes in gloss, satin and matt right.... now if I want a really gloss finish would you put a gloss acrylic clear coat over the top? and if so could you use a matt or satin finish underneath? or do you not need the top coat?
16.
.... then going to a turkey tasting event and then ...
er, this is more interesting than the BB....
17. this is getting to a silly price now! what on earth do you want to do with the money? an amp???
18.
Plasti - Kote ! That's it ! Looked at the site and it's going to be a Blue of some kind Mediteranean maybe ... How many cans will I need ? 1 primer , 1 colour & 1 clear ? What about sanding ? First ever project so I'll be bugging you lot for a wee while ! Thanks so far by the way !
oh and... at a guess is wilkinsons the cheapest place to get it you know?
19.
Silver Series necks are quite easy to ID - they've got a really tight radius to the corner by the E string.
like mine
20.
there are far better materials to build a guitar from before basswood.
depending on the design brief... the bmw guys who designed the bongo went for basswood. Ok they also designed the bongo so possibly that doesn't say anything - but just that everything is chosen for a reason. the "fender woods" of alder and maple I'm guessing were chosen to use partly as they were cheap for Leo to get his hands on.
21. you'll pay for this by selling off the bits you don't need
22. surprised about the change in tuners. I always liked the yamaha 'hearts'
23. nice bass... where did you get that? would look good if you had a hardcase built for it....
