1. You see how someone has told him it's not a '54ri and he then has asked what year reissue they think it is. The answer is not only on the reciept but it's stamped in the neck pocket!!
 2. Hello Today is an exciting day - why? because it's my birthday and secondly the birthday money has let me buy something.... and I think it may very well be the first bass related thing* I've bought new since I bought my NOS status bass in 2003 - so exciting. Years back I picked up a Warwick Streamer stage one off Warwickhunt, and really didn't get on with it. Then picked up another, lighterweight one which to me sounded way nicer. It took me years before this became my "main" bass though - years of buying and selling other stuff- and one of the main reasons was the sound. The bass was equipped with MEC PJ pickups and the original MEC 2 band preamp. And... it just wasn't nice- it was quite a thin naisel tone with this daft attack. Say you were just peddling the root note for a song - (think U2 style!) on a Fender bass you get a steady dum-dum-dum-dum-dum or what ever, this sounded like a machine gun - all attack and little sustain (relative) - which wasn't really what I wanted. Apart from that, and acoustically, it had an awesome rich low end and a cutting high end. It sat in busy mixes way better than my other basses. So last year I decided to change it - and bought a PJ set of Barts (original series) for it and a Glockenklang two band preamp. Well the glock wasn't much use, the bass already had quite heavy highs and lows - and the MEC preamp which pulls in the high and low mids with it works quite well - the Glock on the other hand just did not work with this bass. I ended up using the bass in passive mode most the time at which point it was time to sell the pre. For a few months till I picked up a passive blend pot I ran the thing with the pickups straight to jack - and it sounded awesome! Really opened up the pickups in a really nice way. Eventually I stuck the MEC preamp in - and while it's not bad it does sound a little bit like my bass has a cold. So a high, or vairable input impedance would be good in a new preamp. And what next caught my eye was the ACG pre. My amp has a pretty good 4 band EQ, so another 3/4 band seemed silly but I like tinkering with sound and sweepable controls that let me do it by ear work well for me. The ACG looked like it would give me the useful passive roll off the Glock had when turned off - which suited the streamer - plus a whole lot more control over the mids and then the option to bring some of the high end back in - sounds like a winner! So saved up about 4 times - including selling loads off stuff, then trading a guitar for more stuff to sell.... and each time the money went on something else (an engagement ring being the biggie) and today placed my order! *except strings, scratch plates and I just remembered my cab was new too.
 3.
Convince him that his own project would have much better prospects, I mean... your JUST a cover band after all
* you're !
 4. I don't get it. Like I like playing football but I don't turn up at Alex Ferguson's office and suggest I could add something extra to the United forward line do I? Why does the cock think a band is any different. Though I bet his guitars cost more than both your guitarist's rigs. Always the way
 5.
This. Especially Bravewood Guitars for me.
to give him his due at least he makes his stuff. Nash I don't get
 6.
I tried a Sandberg California yesterday. It reminded me of a 5 string Trace Elliot T Bass I once owned. Beautifully built, awful to play... 30 seconds later and it was back on the stand. I was gutted, it looked fantastic. On the up side my GAS is cured.
when I first started playing I had a thing for a t bass on a local shop, never had the balls to try it. What are they like?
 7. would I be alone in thinking if you were in glasgow with the money and messaged the seller you might be able to get that? Those amps are supposed to be good - never heard one though. One of the few wee things that make me look at my rig and wonder
 8. bass plectrums. Of any brand
 9. really surprised this is still about!
 10.
It also says on that receipt that it's a '51 Re-Issue rather than a '54. The bit I love is the carefully photographed pots & wiring, so that you can see that they're the original '51 Re-Issue pots and the original '51 Re-Issue solder is still in place. I really should check that the pot-codes authenticate back to a genuine '51 Re-Issue. You can't be too careful when buying high-value vintage basses, you know.
if you're selling a japanese fender for over £800 then these little touches help you know!
 11. A while back I had a my acoustic up for trade. I also mentioned that for a very special bass I could add my electric to a trade. I got two messages in the space of 5 min. One offered me a tiwanese Yamaha BB for... both guitars and £50 One offered me a japanese Yamaha BB, a Squier japan Jazz and a bass pod thing - for my acousitic. I had to think quite hard to come up with a polite response to the first one!
 12. In another note... while seeing blond versions of the same thing on ebay for about £300 I also saw this.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEARN-TO-PLAY-THE-BASS-GUITAR-ON-DVD-18-/280968045081?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item416b002219 does the (18) mean it's for over 18's only? what on earth is he doing with his bass? sorry off topic
 13. Hmm... so next time you go to sell a bass.... invest in a nice SLR! Nice photos, well written text, you would trust the seller.... and maybe people want to be like sting? I dunno!
 14.
They are better than nice mate. This is a close cousin of mine (mines tulip wood body & rosewood 'board, Dimarzio Ultras) so a little more '60s jazz than I'd imagine this is especially as mine has the stock J-Retro with the inbuilt eq curve. But in terms of playability and build quality, you have to go a long long way to better an Overwater imho
yeah - the overwater jazzes seem to be really highly desired - this is one of the nicer ones I've seen (too many with too much custom option bling)
 15.
Does this count? Always wanted one to match my '58 P, love it, they're actually much smaller than I thought, cute little tweed case too;
there's a saying about showing off when you're under endowed.... (PS rick this isn't a PM )
 16.
Good choice of new bass! Hope you find a good one ps fancy selling your SS1 yet?
Hi man I've found a good one, from 1987! Just need someone to buy this first - so far - little interest and in a short answer..... no
 17.
Good things come to those who wait!! I have two weeks off at xmas, starting next Thursday, so will have a look then, I still need to locate a good picture of what wires go where, it's been a while! Been playing it unplugged today, it's awesome!
It's a P bass! It's got one pickup with too two wires - ground to the body of the volume, then the live to the centre lug of the pot. Simple! My guess the vol and tone are already connected?
 18. how have you not soldered it together yet? I no way have that patience! I wee build I'm doing the only way I knew that I would let the finsih cure for long enough was leaving it a week before ordering the parts!
 19. Went to enter - found out I already had. Chance of winning.... 1000000000 to one!
 20.
I'm surprised this topic is still limping along. Surely there's nothing more to say after this:
mate theres another thread that was about pricing of secondhand stuff, stingrays and warwicks in particular and it's still limping along full of people saying things like "I like stingrays" I like stingray's too" "i think they are very good" "I like their necks" etc etc some threads will go on an infinitium until someone gets compared to a Nazi
 21.
it is a bargain .. thinking about it now but, I wan't my LMIII
wan't ?? is that bradford dialect?
 22. Woah, keep calm. I think the thing is that its a good price but not so good you would take a risk without seeing it, warwickhunt has sold me a ss1 for less in the past and he had his advert up for about 8 montha before I found the money. Considering the scratch/crack is just behind the nut (ie one end of the truss, and in a similar place i hope you understand folks hesitancy. I dunno about other folk but coventry is over 100 miles away from me and not a cheap trip. you stuck an ad up and got 10 responces, that's ten more than. Ive got for a bass with no issues!
 23.
I've just broke me underpants.
that could be understood in many different ways!
