1. warwickhunt on the warwick hunt. You've be after a SS2 since you sold your last one, what's the craic with this one? it not work out for you? oh and 4 or 5 string?
2. when this first came on here back in april, I thought - thats nice. but I live too far away from leeds. Now i live in leeds!
3. in theory yes... but then how do you make that a rule?
4. to be fair the fella also has it on gumtree.
5. seeing that you're going to have to open it up to see whats up with the pups, stick it in the japanese one
6.
Its number 106 so is only a year or so old, has 2 batteries
106 is a P bass????
7.
Yep. I respect that. I have tried a lot of Jap and Mexican Fenders and they have that missing something to me. I think it is the basswood bodies, common in the Japs, doesn't seem to have the ring for me. I've played ordinary MIAs before, but those that have really made me grin have always been string thru MIAs.
ahh all the japanese fenders I've played/owned haven't had basswood bodies. the better ones don't. I really dislike the current american standards- not sure why. The highway ones were nice, and played some awesome ones in the american vintage range - but the idea that all american are better than all japanese is daft. A good japanese bass will be maple and alder/ash like a US made one, from what I've played I prefer the japanese made necks.
8. It would take a very good bass to better my '57, nae going anywhere!
9.
Problem is, until a year ago or less they were in the reach, unlike the Audi. I don't see what Warwick have done to warrant the increase apart from reduce their carbon footprint, which they should foot the bill for.
they were a small exclusive bass builder making it all by hand.... then they became big and made lots of basses- not as good as the older ones but people bought them. then I guess people stopped buying them as much and they wondered what they could do, and while fender and everyone else just tried to cut costs they raised the quality again and dropped production levels, if you make a higher quality product the prices go up.
10. thing is... maybe seeing the recent price increases maybe warwick were just the first to move their prices up.
11.
I would recommend trying it first if you can. Although they'll sell again easily, when we were A/Bing it at a bassbash we could hear a difference and I decided it wasn't for me. In a mix it may be a different matter mind!
also some amps/preamps etc already have similar things built in....
12. Dear Mr Warwick I note that I have not received a free bass yet in order to make your welcome area more happy. That's ok, I understand, I am disappointing though and as a consequence will boycott all Warwick Basses for the next two days.* yours Luke *that two days is admittedly the time before my dissertation (thesis in german ) handin when I'm stuck behind my computer but still!
13.
Have you ever thought of getting a USA Jazz? Squier and Jap Fenders don't cut it like a proper Jazz.
b00lox - japanese fenders are at least the equal of the US production of the last 10 years, a fair few of them even have the same pickups on them. The US vintage reissue is a step up I'll give you that but I would take one of the Jap reissue series over a US standard any day of the week and then some.
14. How early is your valenti? What's the preamp? Did it come as standard with one or two batteries? some of the early valentis Nico used this really clever (and small) element to get 18v out of a 9v battery.
15.
Ok thanks folks I appreciate what you're saying and I take your various points. Thing is my main issue with BBOT bridges is that you can't get a decent low action and a Badass will give you the lowest you can get without gluing the strings to the fretboard. Can you get the same sort of action with a Babicz? The bass I'm about to get to all intents and purposes, has a Geddy Lee neck and I want the same action I have on my GL jazz bass. Basically I'm asking are these Babicz bridges any good? Regarding the Gotoh not really that impressed though I am intrigued by the Schaller.
Schaller is nice. But I don't believe you with a Badass/BBOT affecting the action. If anything isn't the baseplate of the badass thicker? action is more down to the neck.
16. something is wrong with either your MM pup, the wiring into it or the blend pot.
17.
Ha! Ha! Yes that's right although you have to keep your JV Jazz unless you want to swap for this .
sell that stuff, then, Leo wouldn't have approved. "Badass,Nordstrand NJ4,Audere JZ3,Hipshot Dtuner"
18.
Yeah mate, your right, I had an opportunity to , buy a JV P bass from a little shop in Sheffield many years ago, for absolutely nothing. And I foolishly passed, and I did think of putting a jazz pickup in and defretting it, I also enquired once about getting an ebony fretless board to be fitted to my jazz once, when I had a much larger stable of basses (pre kids) and it was a very expensive mod . Anyway ash, I'm probably going to be there for a meal as my brother in law is a local drummer, I'll pm you if my fortunes change, this is a gorgeous bass, whoever gets it will be a very happy bunny
just sell all that other junk in your sig to get it!
19. are the coils wired in series or parallel? thats a shame, maybe if you used the J retro to boost just the bridge pup....
20. Dear Warwick, I very much enjoyed your virtual tour. However you seemed to have too many basses sitting around your showroom unplayed. They look sad and are meant to be played. Just think how much happier that room would be if you gave one of them to me? thank you Luke
21.
Now you've complicated it all by adding the Doppler effect.
affected by the room size?
