If you've written or co-written any original songs then they'll need your permission to do anything with them AND you should get your appropriate share of income from them. Same for any recordings if they're exploited. And if you really want to annoy them, you can say (or write) that the band was operating as a partnership under partnership law, and as such you have rights in the name and goodwill (excuse me being vague, but it's a long time since I did Partnership law) of the band. You should definitely assert your rights in any songs though...
Agreed. I was in a band a while back... it was fun while at uni and we did pretty well really. Eventually got kicked out, problem being that most the rest of them wanted to be this really tight unit, and having other things in my life and other friends I didn't want to give my life to it. I also missed out on the fag break bonding times. I was however good at talking and communicating in a band where we were bad at it... got caught in a power struggle between the keys player and the guitarists (also a couple oddly) as to who led the band (when before it had been me and the keys player). Kicked out, well walked out- it wasn't messy but didn't want to hang out with them much after. and i got to hear the new girl murder the songs as she did her own thing and gradually going back to my lines. Anyway years later they get in touch to ask me what I had input into, I said I didn't care really, they insisted and then were a bit surpried how much I had written lyrics or vocal melodies for. They are on iTunes now, so no doubt someones making money from them but, meh who cares was my attitude. I think for the OP writing a letter claiming credit to the management of the band, and the label wouldn't be a bad idea.
Can't believe they dumped a mate for a label like that!! Twonks. Utter twonks. Hope it works out for you bud
yeah... it's odd how some people get transfixed by "making it" and the moment any idiot with a label turns up will jump at it. The amount of messages we used to get via email from lables we'ld never heard of asking about us was mad.
 2. Hello. Is the 93 the price? I'll give you £93 for it if so
 3. oh yeah. reason for selling: I can't play it really. I don't need two guitars I can't really play to learn on! and there is a wedding to pay for.
 4. Hello So I got this from here years back it's been sitting gathering dust. Well apart from now when my housemate is playing it. Japanese made 1987. sounds amazing, plays amazing. (for people who can play) new strings last week. Cedar top, mahogany sides. Original hard case. It's been well played and loved in it's life, one of the previous owners added the scratchplates (you can see them being added in the older pictures on her website) and the fretboard is showing wear. Lovely warm tone, sounds amazing plugged in. It's in leeds. Don't really want to post which is a pain, (I have a student rail card so for the price of a cheap day return I'll deliver it to your nearest rail station*) £370** trade for a bass a possibility, open to offers/suggestions. for the right bass can possibly add a bit of cash I like... jazz bass types good old japcrap, wood necked status warwicks. old ones really. project basses if interesting enough, beat up basses work for me too if everything works. frets I dislike.... 6 strings. 5 I'll try, 6 is too many. 7 is way out. P basses (got one) very pointy things short scale gibson, or gibson designed rickenbackers (don't think theres a risk of being offered one of them in a trade- but just incase!) overly pointy basses, oh I said that. anything heavy- i'm going to ask how heavy it is... other guitars/amps/effects - not interested. I hope someone may be interested in a very good acoustic at a good price. Check out my feedback if you want. Luke *within reason. If the rail station is london or essex way I'll go in halfs on a ticket as can visit family ** which is the price I paid plus inflation from when I bought it.
 5. I'm sure I used to know someone who had like a normal 4x10 but the back and sides were molded out of one piece o brown fiberglass. Weighed nothing. but was very very unbalanced as all the weight was at the front where the speakers were. Never seen anything like it since
 6. gaaarr I was looking at that and then realised it wasn't actually your one! EDIT: as in the price. Always wanted to try one of these
 7.
The only great swingers on electric are Steve Swallow and Anthony Jackson and maybe Jaco on a good day but a lot of the electric guys don't swing because their tones are unsympathetic to the idea.
see this is why I like Bilbo's posts, half the time I don't understand half of what he is saying, but armed with google you end up finding things like this by people you've never heard of.... and really enjoyed if you excuse him his shirt the trumpet part at around 5:00 is good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtZ_pKQad9w
 8. sounds good john! The 5th ani one has got a nice fat tone, surprisingly liked it a lot! The 1990 one sounded more familiar- if slightly brighter sounding- probably the strings (nickels?) the amp cab setup works really well with it. Which works in the mix better? I found the dolphin too... I think you need new strings!
 9. your own brand headphones? or is it a B not a J?
 10.
I've owned x2 Pro I - 4 strings and I have to say that my '89 4 string fretted bass had a nut width as wide as some 5 string basses. However, it was a flattened profile so not a handful, I'm not sure how wide the nut on a 5er is but I'd certainly have a try of one before you commit to buying. I presently have a Pro I CS fretless and the nut width is NOT as wide as the older one but the profile is also different (more squared off shoulders). The Dolphin looks like it will be large and unwieldy but they aren't, they are very comfy to play and have a very distinct tone.
talking of distinctive tones, wheres that video of a streamer stage one you meantioned doing? I'm thinking it will be back at work on monday and we'll all have to wait till half term!
 11.
there are plenty of graphic designers on here do feel free to PM if you wish
do you think a 'graphic design chat' thread would fit in the 'other instruments' section?
 12.
I've played this bass at my last band rehearsal (usually use my Valenti Jazz) and I have to say I was mega impressed! it felt, played and sounded amazing. to give it a brief review; build & design - the workmanship that has gone into this 'prototype' is just top class, I was really impressed! the body shape & design is very unique and I think it really works. the headstock, which I've been informed is smaller than planned (accidentally) also adds to a unique and modern feel. the wood is just gorgeous and has a lot to do with the way this bass sounds! it's also a very light bass .. or so it seemed. sound & playability - you can't go wrong (IMO) with Sadowsky electronics, however this Alpher bass does something to add to that sound (the wood used and way it's built). it has an aggressive and slightly modern jazz sound, with great balance between the bottom and top end (even more so than my Valenti) but at no point does the sound become too much or over bearing! there were no dead points on the fret board, the action was low and fast, the neck was smooth and the fretboard just looks amazing and sounds awesome! all in all, I was taken back by how good this was .. especially considering it's a prototype! I'm certainly looking forward to putting in an order
wow if it compares to that valenti that's high praise indeed! very nice looking thing!
 13. packet of polos? one eaten?
 14. old ad that
 15. saw one for £550 last week. And a USA sterling for £450 Wish I had the money!
 16.
Not tried either. BUT I am a massive Yamaha fan, and have two 6 string guitars. One is a Pacifica 812, decent, but the other is an early 80's SA2000. Everything about this guitar screams quality. It is the best guitar I own, and is worth WAY WAY more than the £700 I gave for it 15 years ago. So, based on this, and the fact that they look the dogs, I would get a 2024/5 in a heartbeat.
agreed, I looked down a bit at yamahas, since getting my 80s SG400 I don't. To get similar quality secondhand I would have to spend a hell of a lot, and its supposed to be a mid range level!
 17.
party poopers - cannae believe no one wants this HAND MADE bass at £500 - search this forum and find a bad word said about Sandbergs.
this has been floating in my "if someone gave me the money that's the top bass for sale at the moment" top two for a while now, surprised no ones grabbed it
 18.
I love this bass. It's weird. It's only a bass... I have "better" Jazz basses... but it's like meeting an old friend: it may have been a few years since you last met, but after 10 minutes it feels you were never apart. Really at home with it.
I may have said how a year or so ago I had 3 jazz basses bought and sold.... a FSR Fender 70's reissue, cost a grand secondhand, a good price; a Valenti jazz, was cheap secondhand at 700 and a cimar jazz that cost me 70. I only regret selling one of them. guess which one!
 19.
What Fender make instruments with pre amps when did this happen. Seriously though, I had Warwicks down as having significant bass boost - indeed a fundamental part of the signature sound.
I had my streamer with a passive pup wired straight to jack. The fundimental bass boost isn't down to the pups or pre
 20.
I don't know why people gripe about MEC electronics, I've always thought they suited the basses very well. I guess because they aren't as high profile as some brand names people think they should replace them with something more famous. Humans. Honestly...
they are designed for Warwick instruments, and don't do exactly the same things a fender designed preamp will.... most preamps seem to have a bass boost at around 40hz - the MEC is about 100hz... if you're not expecting that it's different. It's got a certain tone you'll either love or hate. They do work well. I like mostly, having said that the pups did get swapped out (I don't like active pups) and the pre may do soon- but more for very specific sound wants rather than there being anything at all wrong with the MEC stuff.
 21.
What was your opinion?
I'll PM you the review I did....
 22.
Many and diverse Warwick sounds now but I'd suppose the Streamer tone of Stuart Zender (Streamer Stage I 4 string on the early Jamiroquai albums then a Stage II 5 string) or the sound of a Thumb bass would be the classic Warwick 'Sound of Wood'... in fact I might dig the camera out and do a quick recording of my SSI.
please. While It's out do a few wicks
 23. I played one of these in a shop last Mon to write a review for musicman20 who was interested in an opinion.
 24.
So you were running the Barts with no preamp at all? I've been thinking of trying this with my fretless Zon.
yeah, despite everything I read saying they would be too low a signal it sounded great. Is that low z or something to do with loading the pickup vs the resitance of the pots and input value of the MEC pre.
 25. So back at christmas I got given some money and picked up a set of Bart pickups and a glockenklang preamp off here for my warwick. Stuck them in... and it was great- the tone I wanted from my bass!.... with the preamp flat or in passive... the Eq points on the Glock were a useless match for the Warwick. (there was also a massive volume drop in the centre blend position - so the preamp got sold, and I started saving up for an expensive one.... so my bass was sat there with no preamp, and no knobs. Eventually I got fed up and hooked it up, wiring the neck pup up straight to jack. I could open it up and hook the bridge pup on too for both of them if I wanted. And that's how I've been playing my bass since! (it looks a bit silly with no knobs) So after saving for the new pup a few times and spending the money (I got engaged!) I decided this week enough was enough- and bought a nice bourns 250k Ohm MN blend pot and wired it all up.... and it is great to have a bass with pots! and no volume drop with this pot but I've got so used to the striaght to jack sound, which I like, that it sounds like my bass has caught a cold!
