I totally agree but there seems to be a new breed of MM player emerging who can not wait to stick a JE in their newly acquired MM thus rendering it no longer an authentic sounding MM - kind of pointless perhaps but at least it is reversible.
this I find odd. For me the preamp is half the sound of a MM. as I type this I wonder if the same is true with my streamer....
 2.
Haha, careful now, or that might sound like a good suggestion - nay, a fantastic opportunity - for you to give back to the Basschat community, by explaining to us muggles how we might go about doing it I'd be interested in hearing a lot more from the pros about the tools they have for the job. I've worked with the wood, I've soldered circuits - but would be interested in hearing more about the people who do it regularly, and simply what kit and techniques they use; rather than my sole example in Jon's workshop, where everything was to hand in quantity!
I would imagine thats his wee secret buy a osprey bass to find out. I would imagine it's either a bit like the G&L L1000 or the Sandberg Umbo.
 3.
Just wee bit of black magic wizardry I have in couple of my basses.
is it similar to the G&L passive boost type thing?
 4. I have a MEC 25k MN blend pot that will be going spare soon if that helps
 5.
I have a pre for sale.....
you do? (is there a joke here i don't get?)
 6.
I don't think that chippies necessarily have deep fried Mars bars on their priceboard but most chippies that I know sell sweeties. Just ask them to deep fry you a mars bar?!?! If they sell Mars bars, there's nothing stopping them dipping it in batter and flinging it in the fryer...
make sure they unwrap it first.
 7.
There's a version after this one, but before the redesigned TRB6ii. This one has a single truss rod, whereas the other has dual truss rods. That's the one people are more likely to be looking out for. Like the P/J version of the TRB5P this version of the TRB6P doesn't go for big money. Look back through listings here and you'll see that figures between £600 and £800 are what get paid. At £1,250 it's overpriced.
all I know is that I've spoken to at least 3-4 people on here who've gone along the lines of - yes I have this bass you are asking about, but I'll only trade for a TRB6P 1st ed.
 8.
Now I'm done, for sure. On to bigger and better things, like getting some Brubaker basses in the UK!
baws to all this endorsement stuff.... that's more interesting. Loan one to one of the mods to make a video blog review of it or something - you can get it back and we'll all get to hear it/ hear all about it. Find someone small to distribute it, even just mail order only- see what happens.
 9.
No thanks was always a bit wary of Keith
went to my school init
 10.
Thanks it's a class bass but not getting the attention it deserves, I'm open to sensible offers but sorry no trades unless someone has a nice Moog Minitaur or Prodigy.....
I have a copy of 'music for the jilted generation' somewhere, any interest?
 11.
Bit harsh, considering his location! Great bass, would love to try one of these.

Considering his location, he's probably capable of better English than half the guys on here.
Typography - not language! And holland has produced some of the best typographers the world has ever seen. mmmmm nice european humanist sans serif.....
 12.
Until they changed owners recently, my local chippy had a dessert section on their takeaway menus. The options were Deep Fried Mars Bar, or Deep Fried Freddo (for the kids).
ken if you moved 40 miles to the east, west, north or south you could add ten years to your life expectancy?
 13. however nice that bass is you are committing several typographic evils there which hurt my eyes
 14.
True but in a forum where most guys venturing under the hood would rather pay a bloke to build them the simplest of looms than solder one up for themselves, it's hardly surprising. Are more people choosing to go passive these days? My basses are a pretty mixed bunch but once I found out how to build a passive bass boost circuit there was no looking back.
A passive bass boost? howsthatworkthen? gotta schematic? And yes maybe you have a point in a fair few folk won't go near their bass with a screw driver - let alone a soldering iron! I'm half tempted to try and build my own, maybe using talkbass's TB11 as a base. but if something came up here I'ld be tempted to give it a go. (Probably I should just buy a blend pot and use the one I have, and pay for the refret)
 15.
deep fried pizza followed by deep fried mars bar
hey, the deep fried mars bar is a east coast thing. also please keep the attached photo for reference:
 16. if anyone feels they really missed out http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/180924172874?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&cbt=y
 17.
Ahem!
or maybe it's just that when they do loads of them don't fit on my bass! While you're about it.... and people are reading, remind me what preamp you've got for sale?
 18. Luke's thought of the day.... preamps don't come up for sale secondhand that often do they?
 19.
Ha I love it. You're hired.
YESSSS (eeek did he notice the OG logo - testicals link.... , it's the dogs OG.... anyway)
 20.
I remember a TB member getting ranted at because he amusingly used the endorsing artist box to claim he endorsed Converse All Stars, it was a joke, other less jocular members felt he was a lying scumbag... i felt it was a bit of an over reaction.
was his name chuck?
 21. I had a combo/ cab which the amp section had been taken out. It was very very high end stuff in there and sold it (to warwick hunt) for £150 or so. I would guess around that price? Whatever it is you would probably get more if you fixed it then sold it I would have thought
 22.
If you could make it like a Stingray that would also be cool. Also, naked adverts. Just a tactically positioned bass to hide the modesty. "Go Bear", "Bear- back", "Bear to believe... That we're all naked", a would make sh*tty copy : lol:

oh. I was thinking more along the lines of this.
 23.
Haha nice one Luke. I shall bear that in mind.
The Osprey Bear Bass has a good ring to it if you're wanting names for inventions
 24.
I wonder why we are skirting the fact that some "artists" get endorsed simply because it looks good.... to be like their heroes. Ok the sponsor may feel like they are getting something in return but I've seen kids (no offence) with endorsed by such and such in their sig and you think "why, you've only been playing for 5 minutes". Hell at times on TB you can't throw a free set of stings in the air without hitting one of the great endorsed.
Rich if Osprey ever want to endorse me... I'm not in a band at the moment having just moved, and when I was it was just at church, I would get you no real exposure- though I would wear one of your osprey t shirts, would not make your brand look cool or good, any videos I made on youtube would be let down by my odd scottish-essex hybrid accent and my lack of skill in playing, oh yeah and i'm probably not good looking enough for anything bigger than a thumbnail on your website. I could however use my design and copy writing skills to give you some GREAT advert copy.... "Look Luke's Osprey Licks" or "People don't listen to what I say, Until I play, my Osprey custom Pingray" or the more general "The best thing from Aberdeen since the oil money" ....
