1.
I'm referring to the string spacing (at bridge ?)...
http://www.warwick.de/media/options/neck/neck_dimensions.pdf the 'fat neck' and 'thin neck' options a depth back to front. Broad neck is width... and warwick bridges can change string spacing on bridge
 2.
... At one point someone told me that all of them are 'broad necks'. Are there no exceptions to this ??.
the exception is that someone was possibly talking rubbish
 3. very nice- for some reason always fancied one of these
 4. the slant looks like a jazz bass made by someone who actually wanted a warwick dolphin
 5.
My 62 reissue had the spiral saddles and the larger size vintage tuners with the normal 18mm peg size with a strap button on the back of the headstock. It also had the copper earthing strip going from the bridge to the copper pickup plates (which is the way they used to earth jazzes back in 62). If it doesn't have the large vintage tuners and the spiral saddles it's not a 62 reissue (lots of other Japanese Jazzes still have the copper earthing strip). But it doesn't really matter because this supposedly MIJ Jazz is going for Squier money which makes it awfully suspicious. I'm sure I saw this the other day on ebay and it was going for about £400/£500. Possibly somebody has just lifted the photos off ebay and tried to lure an innocent punter to their doom...........we'll see.
there are two main models of Japanese reissues. the JB62 and the JB62US both will have strap buttons on the headstock, spiral saddles, copper earthing strip etc. I've not measured the tuners but as far as I am aware they are the same on both models. The difference is that one has alder body and US made pickups and the other has basswood and japanese pickups. Both are 62ri To be honest, this is on gumtree, if you're local and have the money I would go and have a look, if it isn't what he says it is you don't have to buy it. nae loss there.
 6. I do my own setups... but once paid to have one done.... it was so nice when it came back from the shop. Mind you I wasn't as good at my own setups then! Refret on the warwick some point soon, it will be nice to have that back fretting nicely everywhere.
 7.
Indeed. Far too good to be true, is that. It's an alder body and big tuners, so... it'll have a spiral bridge and US pick-ups. That's a very minimum £450 bass. I'm so intrigued, I've replied. I shall go with great caution.
it doesn't need to have. There are two japanese '62ri models- one with spiral bridge, US pickups and alder body and one with jap pickups and basswood body. Depending on the age it may or mayn't have the spiral bridge. Tuners on both will be jap (metric) sizes needing a smaller hole in the wood than a american (imperial measurement) size one.
 8.
Well I think Truckstop and I deserve 1/2 a point each for getting the 'Roadstar' and 'mid 80's' bit right.
except they seem to have dropped the roadster name from the catalogue, yes you can have 1/2 a point
 9. RB standard RB680BK - in the 1985 catalogue
 10.
I'm with Luke on this. Let's show ourselves as nice upright bass-players :-) and not overstep the Internet bullying mark eh. CB
yes. even though I don't play upright
 11.
Mmm I am sure there was another comment about Edinburgh here a moment ago! Anyway - Yorkshire is closer and I could go that way to Edinburgh (given my direction finding abilities Bristol is near to Edinburgh!) Quick word of advice when you move ...... don't put a bass bridge in a box ..... now where is it?
ah sorted, it's a great plan! that's one problem sorted then! Next problem my lack of funds
 12. Having spent some time working in a psychiatric hospital... er I've no idea but I wouldn't want to take the piss out of this guy. certain things you just leave.
 13.
Double drat dude. I am going to be in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks too. I could have delivered it personally into your loving arms. Thanks for the positive comments.
I won't! I'll have moved to yorkshire by then!
 14.
Oh yeah baby - according to the part numbers on the pick ups they are the USA ones. I knew that it depended upon which non-export it was and was quite happy when I discovered the USA ones were fitted and then even more impressed when the Nordys were in place. Now to find that bridge .....
you know you are in a rare bunch of people who actually bother to look and find out what range their bass is in! kudos to you the amount of people who have this "it's japanese so therefore american pickups" drives me mad. As I just said in another post I would be getting a train to manchester if I had the money. But I don't and your GAS is cured.
 15.
Cheers for all your replies. I like the idea of trying basses out of my price range then buying it second hand. So everyone is in agreement that if a guitar is the same model it should sound the same second hand baring any damage. Wicked I will now start browsing the selling section of this forum. @Chris_b lol yeah I just keep saying for life to justify the cost to my self. There will always be bass gear you crave no matter what you have.
similar, It will never be identical- fenders esp are very variable. There's a fender japanese jazz with nordstrand pickups for about £650 on there at the mo that I would buy if I had the money
 16.
I have the original pickups (remember this is a non-export so the pickups are USA ones)
not necessarily, depends on which 70'sRI non-export model it is. Nice bass though, I love the sound of the nordie pickups.
 17.
Yes,but he does too many things to be a serious one...(like pickup winding etc...) What i think he really did was finding out that the amp seemed "ok",maybe didn't open at all,and just put new rubbers at the underside.(it had no scratches then, all pots ok too)... He was offently visiting me before that,i was working as a guitar tech that time, and he was always asking about info for guitar repairs,i happily gave, cause i thought it's just two pros talking their jobs, going you know, friendly, but he used this info to do guitar repairs too, along with the amps...
the cad!
 18. I would imagine Warwick would go for a Audi or something a bit more high end than that
 19.
Thats it having left the bass behind means it hasn't been Dishonestly appropriated. I had the locks changed and told to stay away or else I would be done for trespass whilst a lot of stuff was lifted without my knowledge. That wasn't dishonestly appropriated apparently . civil matter take to small claims. Besides that a landlord only has to keep the stuff for so long anyway.
try citizens advice for help, they helped me out no end with some stuff. Sounds like if someone with a bit of legal training got involved it would be a fairly quick thing to work out.
 20.
I always say that, yes, you can get by and play in a band with root notes, but technically there's a massive amount more than guitar out there, especially technique-wise.
what really? electric, acoustic, classical, jazz, gipsey/Reinhartness, rock, prog, all that sort of african sounding stuff.... I don't doubt that there is a lot of technique in bass- but some guitar stuff..... I mean I would LOVE to be able to play classical guitar.
 21. It's easier to do the basics I think, so yes. I think it's harder to get to a very good level. A mediocre guitarist can exist... after a certain level a mediocre bass player just drags the whole band down (same as a drummer) and after that point any instrument is going to be years of practice and theory so a bass, guitar, gamalan, violin, piano - it gets to the point it's irrelevant what is easier.
 22. So I started this thread partly cos I was listening too too much jazz bass based funk and thats a tone I can't do. But then was at church, and the fella was playing a jazz.... and I remembered why I like my bass in the mix over what a jazz bass can do. Somepoint I will buy a jazz- but for now I'll be happy with what I've got. I may however try to find a preamp that I can use to tame some of the high mids on my streamer.
 23.
But look how much time is spent on here talking about minor aesthetics or furthering daft internet myths and using these factors as excuses to drive a purchase, instead of concentrating on what makes them playable or good to hear from an audience's perspective.
best point I've read on basschat for a long time.
