1.
What does FSR stand for?
factory special run
 2.
Sorry I don't understand... :-)
well, take a small box. and fill it up with stuff. Now take a bed and try and fit it in with the stuff. but lots of guitars on the bed. now an amp, and boy look there is more stuff stick that in too. your full box is stuffed to the gunnels. now try lie down
 3. Unless it was his bass and they don't have actual signed proof of it. If they said who it was and couldn't prove it then that would be bad. So won't say.
 4.
What about 12-string electric? And besides what's all this crap about having only one type of guitar? That's like saying you can only have one type of bass. Nonsense!
yeah yeah yeah, theres 50 million types of guitar's I left off.... the thinking comes from the fact I'm going to be moving soon and for a while have far less space. I have two basses- neither of which are going anywhere (bar stupid amounts of $) and two guitars. If I had one less instrument my life would be just that little bit easier- do you see?
 5. I would think they both are about the same value secondhand. question: if you don't like marcus' tone, or the pickups and preamp - why you buy the bass?
 6.
Archtop, so I chose 'Acoustic with a pickup/preamp (electro acoustic are they called?)', although I doubt that this was your intention. Incidently, a 12-string shouldn't be more difficult to tune (or, at least, my Daisy Rock isn't...).
you know i stuck archtop on and off the list a few times and eventually ended up with it off it!
 7. Just a question I had running through my mind...
 8.
If they can't be easily bumped by your hip/belly/other body part, then yes, I think it's a good idea if it's a decent saving.
yeah the pot's on it currenty are quite high quality, and one of them isn't a standard value- so finding replacements would be hard. I also like the idea of them being hidden away on the back- no idea why it just appeals to me!
 9.
Crikey that reads really badly. Have to say the Nash 63J's I owned both played and sounded very nice. My only gripes were a cheap-ish tort-substitute s/p and the fact the 'clay dots' were shiny white plastic rather than aged
does make me more likely to make a bitsa and finish it myself though
 10.
http://www.offsetgui...php?f=8&t=47291
well that was worth reading....
 11. £200 isn't so much that you could eat less for a month and have both...
 12.
i have two acoustics and a strat that just sit gathering dust. Every now and then I pick one up, tune it, then it takes about 3 minutes for me to remember how crap I am. So I put it down again. Been going on like that for years. Dunno why I keep em really.
sounds familiar!
 13.
Well I sold my old instruments because they was always something I didn't like about them. Sure I miss them from time to time, however I know why I sold them and I would just sell them again. I do however miss my vintage competition Mustang. I sold it to fund my bass rig. I still probably wouldn't buy it back even if I had the spare cash though. It's all about Les Paul Jrs. for me now . I don't like to keep more than one bass+guitar and I'm currently "guitarless" .
how do you choose between acoustic and electric guitar?
 14.
Bet guitarists buy more plectrums!
and strings... I have two basses and two guitars. I like playing bass and don't really have a clue yet how to play guitar. But still have two. go figure
 15. oi! no 'bids' on here mr. either trade only or name your price (look at the rules!)
 16.
Do you think that, maybe, Jazz basses aren't for you?
yeah. worked that one out. Good thing was that I managed to sell the basses I picked up for the same price I bought. Got to try a load of stuff for the price of postage.
 17. I had about £4-5000 worth of jazz basses coming in an out last year- sold them all.... didn't get on with them. FOund an old Cimar Jazz bass from 1975 in a secondhand shop for £70. Did it up and sold it to a mate (at a profit) but..... that was such a fun bass to play. I wish I still had it.
 18. Question time folks... I need to make a new backplate for the control cavity. Thinking of putting some slider switches on it at same time and put some coil taps in that way. Seemed a way way way cheaper option than putting new pots in.- of course you will have to reach round the back to change them but simple and keeps everything else stock. Good idea?
 19. I ate one of the sausages but offer still stands
 20.
I recently posted a thread on how a continental BC'er wanted to buy a bass of mine. I grudgingly agreed to take it apart to show date stamps etc (which I am very unhappy about doing as I am no luthier), sent photos etc only for the guy - at the last minute - to check the Euro/sterling exchange rate and say "isn't it high, it wasn't this high when I last looked a few months ago, can't afford your bass" (or words to that effect). Was mightily p*ssed off, having spent an hour or two disaasembling, photographing and re-assembling bass with the risk that the bits didn't fit together perfectly afterwards. At no point, it appears, could he afford my bass yet he led me a merry dance

I recently posted a thread on how a continental BC'er wanted to buy a bass of mine. 21. My guess is they started out small, making small amounts and selling mainly in germany.
 22.
Not sure where the line is drawn between 'luthier' and skilled or semi skilled production line operator.
for an electric instrument like electric bass or guitar i have a feeling the distinction is immaterial to an extent.
 23. roundwound. medium gauge. Go into a shop and ask what their best seller is, that will probably do you. or string busters do some £7 legend strings that are quite nice
 24.
Hehe, oddly enough I've had a bunch of people enquiring about the pre-amp, but no interest in the bass itself. My circumstances in the past 24 hours have changed dramatically for the better, so I might not be so keen to part ways with either. Mustn't count my chickens before they hatch, so to speak, so will leave it here for the moment until I know for sure. Cheers!
well that is good news!
 25.
Goodness, that's laborious even mechanised. Watching a similar job done by hand at the Fender factory is way quicker. from 2.30 on
so many mexicans!
