Are there not diy plans for hifi stuff you could follow in the same way there are some diy plans for bass cabs?

Isn’t tone doing crossover point? Or is that a boost? I’ve got a crossover drive pedal that has adjustable crossover and does similar things to the EBS - it’s nice

I love my BCcab and have in the past compared it to the equivalent cab design ethos model made in Brighton and much preferred the BCcab comparing the BCcab to the silverstone I was amazed how much difference and how much nicer Stevies evolution of the design was. Purely subjectively it’s just sounded nicer and more musical in the upper mids and a smoother response. Another big difference, I run a colour box v2 at the end of my pedal chain, lovely pedal at low gain for bass but turn it up too loud and it goes from fuzz to some awful square wave sound of something clipping horribly - BCcab it’s ice picks aimed at your head, LFSys was more in control and just sounded a bit nasty. I’m probably an odd use case for a bass cab as I play a lot straight into a PA - what the LFSYS does is set my effects pedals (HX stomp up to recently) and then know that that tone via the pa was going to be fairly similar ish

I would not say I did it with any great accuracy… and I did make the presumption that the drivers were the model they were labeled and used the driver manufacturer’s TS parameters. The graphs that it created looked like what I was hearing, esp when increasing the input power… So not any degree of accuratey at all but it explained what I was hearing and the difference between a cab that sounded fine at low practice levels and caused massive issues for the live sound engineer turned up. from memory the box was too big for the drivers and the port (a hole cut in the baffle, so 15/18mm deep) wasn’t tuned quite right- so with a slight increase in power the bottom end dropped of and there was a massive spike in the mids that cut through thr mix in a slightly uncontrollable way. since then I have had or used: ACME, Barefaced, Mesa Boogie, Gallien Krueger, Ashdown and now BCcab and Stevies LFSys and am happy that the designers of those cabs had and used the TS perameters to create a lovely set of bass cabs.

I measured the Tecamp cab I had and stuck all the measurements into whatever that cab modelling software is - let’s just say I liked my puma amp but would buy a different make cab next time

That said worst Christmas carol service ever been too... I'm in a unnamed church in an unnamed city that just happens to be the capital of Scotland. Sunday morning is a normal service, evening carol service. Sunday morning the preacher guy had comes up from England. He was from Lancashire or somewhere, so Imagine Paddy McGuiness - but kinda arrogant rather than likeable, and not as funny as he thought he was, but still trying these jokes... he wasn't great. Anyway the evening carol service - we did loads of non traditional songs, it wasn't very christmassy - and then the guy came up and started "the name of my talk is a Christmas surprise, and the surprise is I'm not going to talk about Christmas at all" we laughed He didn't He did however try and tell lots of jokes about Scottish people, and a very crude idea of Scottish culture. Which might have been funny in Lancashire... but on his first visit to Scotland didn't go down well... I've not heard another preacher being hissed at!

IMO/IME for non church people the 'tradition' of hymns is what they came for, and the act of singing as part of a group is novel enough outwith the church/football/rugby. What you can do is do some really musical ly interesting things. Then the readings/talk you can go away from tradition and say things that don't wash over... When I've been places where we've tried to make the structure of the songs music too non traditional people have tended to come out feeling short changed more than engaged.

Years ago we bought a £5 Uke for our toddler from Lidl - it’s a pile of crap but our daughter enjoyed having it. she’s now 5 and showing an interest in it having a) all its strings b) holding time for longer than on strum so any recommendations for a beginner uke that’s still likely to be not at the “cherished instrument “ stage ? oh and ideally it’s pink!! if we were talking bass ild be looking for a cheap but good harley Benton that’s still budget but actually good … what’s the uke equivalent?

I'm really frustrated and saddened that you've come to our country and had an experience like this. It's not clear in the thread but have you reported it to the police? If the bass ever appears again you will need the case number they give to you. If you know this already I apologise.

There’s a difference in feel between a 44.5mm P bass and a 38mm J bass, they way you play has to change slightly. my hands are not massive and when I had a vintage spec 44.5mm I found I wasn’t as comfortable as on something 41mm-ish - so when I got a Bravewood p bass I asked for a 41mm neck as it fits my hands better. oddly enough I don’t seem to have a problem with a 45-46mm 5 string nut I have a jazz with a 36mm I think which is super thin and I find easy to play - but it’s not too deep a neck - give me a narrow nut but deep front to back and I’ll struggle ergonomically again.

What he said 👆 a couple of years ago I was after a old p bass. My dream was to find a old played to death one with a few mods. My basis was you didn’t play something loads that didn’t sound good, and mods would probably be made in good faith, are often reversable and would lower the price a chunk. I found that bass - the guy changed his mind and kept it but there weren’t many about in player condition. I ended up getting a modern reproduction
