  1. try both. I'm putting mine before the drives
  2. Bass gear nerds: body tonewood is important- do you prefer ash, alder or mahogany? @Fettsman: yes
  3. with a schematic it would be easy ... they use a TAB1043 chipset.... including the new ones. Supposedly really low performance chip, esp at lower power... but my suspicion is that the audio crapiness of the chip is part of the sound
  4. He described it as fighting it for two weeks then it clicked. the problem the rest of us have is we don’t have his ears!!

I imagine a good clone sounds the same - but in @disssa’s case with a shiny case
  6. I lent mine to a guitarist mate. the guys day job is sr audio engineer and now runs his own mastering business - I say this to point out he has v good ears. he struggled with my stomp for a while, then something clicked and he sold thousands of pounds of effects and valve amps and is happy. from memory he used a LPF in the master EQ to take off the very top end and then use a preferred IR at the end of his chain. ( I found it interesting that he had just one ir he uses )

  9. It made sense in my head when I wrote it!
  10. It’s all about context - otherwise it’s just people online answering questions by reinforcing their own decisions.
  11. They look like thr designer came in hungover and had a look at some EBS pedals for inspiration im guessing the enclosure change was done on cost grounds - the graphics really don’t say high end New York effects andd so amps company to me
  12. I did it as a eq block - you can add extra tone shaping if you want... and means that if you put something like chorus or compression after you can have some high end
  13. Hx stomp is an amazing bit of kit i sold mine and have a few individual pedals - for me, for bass it just about made sense as a decision (but costs more) but if I played guitar as well in any shape or form then I would have kept the stomp - it’s that good
  14. I had a helix. It's great. In using it a EQ block with a HPF and LPF was more immediate alive sounding than the Cab Sims or IRs - esp for sending to the desk where it's going to be further eqed to fit in the mix HPF to sculpt the bottom and make sure the bottom end is more like a bass cab. (Also stop subs playing badly with compression on the desk) LPF to take the top off to help clear it out the way of everything else and make distortion sound nice.
  15. take the microbes out the equation... what's it do then?
  16. there you go. And how did I guess you might have a bitsa on the go?
  17. When I am playing a bass the weak point is always me
  18. Mostly we have a honeymoon period and then it's just a bass. A really good instrument is one that keeps on getting better as you learn it more - it sounds like you have one in the Enfield. It's not just materially good, it's grown to you. The Fretless P. How good is it out of 10? if it's good enough keep it, otherwise how much will you loose on selling it and making the beautiful bitsa fretless P you would inevitably make ?
  19. fingers crossed

it's kinda a slight detour away from the freestompboxes open source tracing of things

I wasn’t expecting it to work and then stayed up far too late sorting the calibration. The daft thing is about PedalPCB that the forum seems to have most the info on it, including schematic - https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/LowTide-Schematic-PedalPCB.pdf but you have to root around to find things - one post on one thread - LDSS needs for the barbershop, another post is someone telling you how to bias it… another is… it’s not beginner friendly
