do, or do not - there is no try!
  2. seen the Broughton Fliptop is available again tomorrow? https://www.broughtonaudio.com/product-page/fliptop not that I need to tempt you more @Quatschmacher!
  3. I'm sure 21frets or somewhere said only the first batch of Strats had USA pickups, and the other models had Japanese?
  4. The thing is - I would question if it even matters? The nice thing about this era Fujigen is the necks, and body woods - the ones I've tried just play far nicer than their price. I'm a bit sceptical as to why unmolested pickups or electronics matter, it's not a pre-CBS... if it were me, play it, stick whatever pickups you like in it, and play some more
  5. because fender labeled domestic ones they would have been making at various price points. Some might have had fancy pickups, some cheaper? that's a guess
  6. though yours is more what I would expect than the link you posted. From memory of my JV squier series the pickup wires were cloth covered and the rest were not
  7. Fender Japan made basses at different price points so you would expect the pickup and wiring to be different.

  11. yeah - £100 a roll down to way less - which makes me think there's got to be major differences
  12. that's what I'm doing too.
  13. I was talking to @jimbobothy about this and he recomended a lead free rosin free solder he used in his professional capacity.

  15. Production for domestic Japanese consumption. The export models were the JV Squier Series. The domestic ones would have several price points corresponding with quality, 95 in the model name would have been the highest (probably 95,000 Yen) - how quality compares between Export Squiers and domestic I don't know. The Squier Series JV are quite valuable but the value would possibly be on rarity making it collectable - whereas the higher end domestic stuff like this would guess would be higher price point when built.

(It's a Aion's Mutron 3 PCB with a decay know borrowed from the Meatball and the common "Moog mod" seen in the DIY scene )

If they are coming from the diy /freestompboxes scene they would be - “here’s this thing that is around but not available to try” The ones that are actually retuning circuits to their own taste are doing something new and deserve the credit - someone like Cog effects or 3leaf are creating a new repeatable product out of a common series of circuits and building blocks. The thing that annoys me slightly is for every Cog effects (for example) who genuinely try and enginerer a better octave for bass players you’ll have others who take a common circuit like a zvek SHO, apply the mods that have been floating around on freestompboxes and other places online and bring it out as an original pedal…. Which is why it wouldn’t surprise me if this fella/lass coming doing the chunk stuff is from the diy scene originally. (btw I don’t know who it remind you of!)

Traces of Both pedals have been in the DIY community for years. Theres no legal way to copyright a circuit unless there’s something that is so original and novel that you can patent it. Patents aren’t at all common on circuits as simple and derivative as 99% of analogue guitar pedals. The only way you could make a ‘blatant rip-off’ is a DemonFX style pedal where you copy the copyrightable trade dress. By the time a pedal has been out of production for a decade I really don’t see there’s a issue of bringing out a pedal that is a clone or near clone of something and maybe some improvements. I have more problems with pedal makers using circuits and passing them off as their own amazing work that’s a game changer in guitar/bass playing … and it’s actually a clone of something and no credit is given to the original designer …
  20. @0175westwood29 - you have a clean patch??!
  21. A fun problem!
  22. Even 12mm ply ontop a dc7?
  23. Read the end and height seemingly not an option
  24. Could you make your board two level with enough space to tick something slim under the top level. Also then have two straight rows of pedals.
