  1. I think there’s a difference between missing something (say a Wal) because you miss it and regret having it around, and missing something cos the value has shot up
  2. Dear sir. that crews bass is a very lovely thing that I deeply would love to be able to afford - but not with that scratchplate 🤢 I understand others views may vary and on ther basses it may look fine
  3. they look more like Schechter Monstertones?
  4. Ooo very nice - I like that
  5. It’s a pretty bass - I like that a lot!
  6. Is it wiring you need rather than pot types? These images may help https://reverb.com/item/26465647-atelier-z-eq-m-onboard-preamp
  7. It’s a open stereo Jack like the bottom one in @Andyjr1515s post … the contacts are like springs that touch the cable - before you fit a new one open it up and pinch the contacts closer … that could be all in needs https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1072092/Yamaha-Bb-Ne2.html?page=2#manual
  8. The japapanese “torlam” comes closest I think
  9. Which would suggest that their new prices are justified and about right. It's capitalism, price is set by desirability/market/supply. If it's too high it won't sell, if it's too low they won't make as much as they should be. The other thing about capitalism is if you don't want to buy something, no one forces you too. If Jaydee were more popular and in demand they would cost more and have a longer wait time.
  10. This is a bass doc special from a few years back. Layer of real cellulose not printed. From memory it was around £30
  11. https://line6.com/support/topic/58508-compatible-power-supplies-for-hx-stomp/
  12. I’m really surprised this one is still here
  13. Can’t even tell a bloody ape from a monkey. monkeys are the ones that can use their tails for tapping a la Charles berthold, Apes are the ones who prefer double bass but dabble in EB cos there’s money there
  14. So in conclusion, guitarists and most people are gear snobs. So are us lot on here except when we are being open minded and not snobs. We are however real snobs/pedants about naming things correctly and socks.
  15. I measured and think the Lefay has 20-25mm travel
  16. In that situation you've got bigger issues going on than GAS!
  17. I wonder if the Is there snobbery in other orchestral instruments at all? like cheap mass produced instruments like electric basses and guitar seem to be sold on brand a lot which invited snobbery… when I see a DB player I tend to think 1) nice playing, I couldn’t do that, 2) kudos for transporting that thing and what kind of bass it is is completely impossible for me to tell or care
  18. Aye would be great if you slap down onto the fret too...
  19. From the basses on the sofa thread... It's for sale mainly as I seem to have too many basses... and it's at the bottom of the pile in terms of me picking it up... It does do something a bit different, and if it doesn't sell I'm not going to be stressing too much
  20. As someone’s currently selling a Fralin and a bass with a Dimarzio Model P they are both very good and both utterly different. Fralin is more vintagey I would guess mid-late 60s sound, DiMarzio is hotter, punchy and with ceramic magnets and sounds very different. my Bravewood P is going for a early 60s vibe and having tried the Fralin decided to keep the Alan Dingwall spirit of pickup it had been built with - lower output, warmer and more open sounding and a different take on vintage fender sound compared to the Fralin. I’ve also enjoyed a SD spb-1 in the past. And hate the sound of active EMGs YMMV what’s worth spending? Depends what sound you are going for and really on the amount of time and money sunk into the project. If you are trying to do a build to a low budget then £100 on a pickup seems daft. If you’ve already spent a reasonable amount, a p bass is a fairly simple instrument and after the neck the pickup is probably the most important thing in it.
  21. Are bass players more conservative than guitar players? Only if it’s wearing flats surely?
