I’ll leave this here, this lot often seem to have Japanese basses at silly prices - this time it’s a couple of Wals - this one complete… well I’m sure it’s a reasonable price for what it is 🤪
actually I retract a little of what I said previously about letting it all wash over you....
It's amazing. It's hilarious- at what point of learning an instrument do you only tune half of it?
sometimes you just have to step away and observe other peoples madness from a zen type place.
I used to do some PA stuff for church, and some professional design.
I chose to stop doing PA and now just look with amusement at some of the things going on...
And in my last church a rebrand happened, they obviously knew more about design than a professional designer... and now there is a church in leeds with a logo that doesn't work very well on websites or ppt or display screens... who would have anticipated that?...
Possibly, but in some off topic thread I didn’t read...
- but I don’t get the point of your post tbh - if an economy is dependent on slave labour then it is a both/and situation rather than a either/or…
Made me think of that 1975ish Cimar jazz I found for £30 and you helped me out with a tuner brushing for - honestly one of the most fun basses I’ve ever played.
I picked it up for a mate who needed his first bass. It still gets played regularly by him. I should have kept it!!
So mine works - but there’s a gremlin where if you bypass the preamp the active pickups seem to pick up noise from the preamp still - so really it needs passive pickups…
but I can’t decide if I’m going to keep the bass, would I be better to sell it on now, or find a cheap set of passive PJ pickups and then maybe sell it on… or get some decent pickups for more money and then maybe sell it on (or keep)
Agree totally - I find too many options and switches takes the joy away for me. Ild rather a bass does one good thing well than 20 meh things.
I also find that having too many basses leaves me parallelised with choice too much
won't tape fade/yellow over time? I've used waterslide paper in the past, just print directly on... https://www.musikding.de/Decal-for-laser-printers-108x139cm
pretty much 60% of YouTube adverts I get served are Scott Devine.
I did find it annoying till I considered what the alternative adverts would be... he's alright - plus he lives next village to me!
oooohhh I read about something like that in Terry Pratchett books with Lord Vetinari ....
Thats an obscure reference I'm hoping at least one person gets!
People get very uptight sometimes, If you treat it like a pub where there's always going to be a handful of absolute total onanists somewhere... but you just ignore them. Live and let live, there's enough issues in the world with people I know in real life before I start worrying about a load of bass players in internet land. I've met a few folk off here at Bass bashes and doing trades- It's been lovely pretty much every time.
He's around on Facebook, I remember he got ill and some people got annoyed - but since then he made me a scratch plate for my Sadowsky and seemed sound.
Dear agony aunt (aka @EBS_freak)
church IEM use gets some distortion through my UE 900s …
chat on our WhatsApp group “oh some headphones will blow” - turns out we are using a Behringer powerplay 8 - which from what I can work out is looking for a minimum 100ohm per channel.
my UE 900s are 30ohm
this is going to be a problem isn’t it?!
