  1. have you just agreed with yourself?
  2. £80ish I think , sound about right?
  3. So mine works - but there’s a gremlin where if you bypass the preamp the active pickups seem to pick up noise from the preamp still - so really it needs passive pickups… but I can’t decide if I’m going to keep the bass, would I be better to sell it on now, or find a cheap set of passive PJ pickups and then maybe sell it on… or get some decent pickups for more money and then maybe sell it on (or keep)
  4. Ooh I saw that when it was for sale - good buy
  5. If it were me I wouldn't go new. Buy wisely secondhand and like WoT says you are less likely to loose money on it.
  6. Congratulations to @Sarah5string for the status update status update 🤘

  7. As you’ve obviously carefully chosen the parts what made you choose Electrolytic over tantalum like the early rays used?
  8. Agree totally - I find too many options and switches takes the joy away for me. Ild rather a bass does one good thing well than 20 meh things. I also find that having too many basses leaves me parallelised with choice too much
  9. won't tape fade/yellow over time? I've used waterslide paper in the past, just print directly on... https://www.musikding.de/Decal-for-laser-printers-108x139cm
  10. I realised I didn’t say a massive thank you!
  11. Life’s too short, let it go. or alternatively if life isn’t too short the world is crying out for more of your opinions on barefaced gear again.
  12. pretty much 60% of YouTube adverts I get served are Scott Devine. I did find it annoying till I considered what the alternative adverts would be... he's alright - plus he lives next village to me!
  13. oooohhh I read about something like that in Terry Pratchett books with Lord Vetinari .... Thats an obscure reference I'm hoping at least one person gets! People get very uptight sometimes, If you treat it like a pub where there's always going to be a handful of absolute total onanists somewhere... but you just ignore them. Live and let live, there's enough issues in the world with people I know in real life before I start worrying about a load of bass players in internet land. I've met a few folk off here at Bass bashes and doing trades- It's been lovely pretty much every time. He's around on Facebook, I remember he got ill and some people got annoyed - but since then he made me a scratch plate for my Sadowsky and seemed sound.
  14. I’m fairly near… ? just along the m62
  15. And by problem I mean “it’s kinda been working for the last 3 years”
  16. Dear agony aunt (aka @EBS_freak) church IEM use gets some distortion through my UE 900s … chat on our WhatsApp group “oh some headphones will blow” - turns out we are using a Behringer powerplay 8 - which from what I can work out is looking for a minimum 100ohm per channel. my UE 900s are 30ohm this is going to be a problem isn’t it?!

  18. Here’s the neck angle my one took without shims or anything, I would say something is wrong but it sets up perfectly so…
  19. Would get you properly lynched in someplace where tort is the religion. (Like talkbass)
  20. Matching headstock to the body, then with one of your bird inlays …
  21. My 5 string has the same spacing at neck and bridge as my 4 string… just one extra string obv
  22. There’s a whole forum for Harley Benton!!!
  23. In fact- Self Adhesive Clear Sticky Back Plastic Film Grid Cover Exercise Books 33cm x 3 Meter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B9G7V3P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_RMCCQYJRQ38B279MJJFE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  24. No it wasn’t, you could get these big rolls of erm plastic with a sticky back. Always used to smell funny. But it would be way wider than sellotape. sellotape was sticky tape.
  25. 44mm is original width of a P bass neck - someone with a vintage reissue P would help you try the width too
