Anyone got any ideas... took a Korg SV1 keyboard to church yesterday for the keys player to borrow.... plugged in BUT TURNED OFF, and connected to the desk via XLR, or jack and DI box we got some crazy high pitched squeals and whines coming through the PA it wasn't turned on... what could cause that? something getting from the earth and neutral into the audio inputs?

Ok use G&L as an example which were better built... it was still added to the design... why?

I always thought shims were to fine tune neck angle compared to body - not to lower action... there is though differing level of craftsmanship in basses - and something cheap and mass produced might need a shim, cos it's relatively cheap and mass produced... whereas I doubt the one bolt neck on a Freedom custom guitar research Rhino bass would ever need one! @Twincam - how do you feel neck micro tilt features like you find on 70's Fender and Musicman and G&L ?

Would a modern clone of an original pickup, with the same type wire and slightly degaussed magnets sound that different? If you have an original pickup rewound does it change the tone?

or just mainly stick them on the wall to gather dust?

Im not entirely sure what this is demonstrating Mr League tends to sound good playing whatever... again I'm not sure what I'm demonstrating but here's another good player with a more recent Mexican fender.

I did not know that - this is why I try and keep my mouth shut when I don't really know what I'm on about! I like the mint guard. A lot of tort looks wrong compared to the original stuff.

And you can just sync the Rotas into your calendar. It also can be used to manage the set lists and do the licensing reporting

I was about to say similar - some crazy wierd stuff topped off with a super thick hard sealer. I had one, think it wasn’t silver series and it was fine till I stripped it to try and fix a chip in the finish from the previous owner…

As he then files it into his Fujigen Gakki wardrobe …

The sweet spot for a p and a MM overlap - you won’t get a “stingray sound” unless you alter the P sound. And vice versa. I also built a crazy bass with Two MM pickups, kinda stingray crossed with L1000 - i had 33 different sound options - and active bass and treble and if anything it was too much! if I were In your situation I would be asking exactly what sound I was looking for - and possibly borrowing or buying then selling a few basses to work out what the answer is before getting the router out. (Or funkles body with the rest of your bass) otherwise it will be very easy to do something irreversible that isn’t what you actually wanted! and, just cos that sounds like I’m on a downer here’s some things I would love the basses to mod on… Swap the P for a dark star. swap for p for a G&L pickup and wire it up like a L1000 Recreate the pickup switching Garry Beers is putting on his basses Dimarzio relentless neck and middle A pair of split ‘51 style pickups like Alpher have been doing A super fat PJ similar to a musicman caprice Leave thr pickups as it is - it needs a Sadowsky preamp! Double P setup but reverse middle pickup Pair of Seymour Duncan New York dual coils Lace Alumatone PJ setup, just cos Ild like to hear these pickups Piezo bridge and maybe a ACG-EQ1
