  1. Well more like not sticking to it and then realising! he even had a jazz bass phase a few months back!
  2. crikey, that will be hard to play
  3. hold up, there's a sunny bit of Yorkshire?!
  4. Out of interest do you have the equivalent of band leaders
  5. Personally, Ild probably be part of a different church soon after
  6. If you look up Japanese catalogs on a computer you can then use google translate with the camera on your phone to translate … it’s not amazing but can get the gist of it
  7. I tried an Excess once so I know a wee bit about that one!
  8. Last two churchs used too, always in the the week before you were playing. Current one not so much, but we're currently only 2-3 band members cos of covid. I've always been blessed to be in situations where embracing the craziness and learning as a musician was possible vs getting jaded and demotivated by it. I started learning bass as my first ever instrument at 18 when I went to Uni.... within 6 months I had been conviced to play on a Sunday. There's was quite a learning curve- but you know what folk put up with me as a complete beginner who didn't know what they were doing so I can put up with others in that situation.
  9. school me (in something I really shouldn't be having an Interest in... ) The middle one is the fretless series one Arpage .... so pickups further apart... Passion are left and right, pickups closer together... is the left hand one a series 2 (carbon neck?) and the right hand one a series 3
  10. Bought a Hellborg amp off one of you in a dream last night... who was it? can we talk in real life?

Luke, if you go to 'dream Basschat' tonight you can check who you bought it off in the 'dream feedback' forum

just for clarity the dream was about a new bass amp, and I dreamed of meeting someone from here and discussing if I wanted the cabs and they might not fit in my car....
I was not actually dreaming of being on here talking to you lot! :D

  11. I imagine you want something amber tinted for that
  12. We have a rota with the forthcoming year sketched out with the series, breaks and Easter, Christmas planned in and who’s preaching and what they are preaching on….
  13. You do realise if you move this guitar on and ever want to get into that octave again it’s going to have to be leather trousers?

Btw I think there is a massive difference between chasing tone or ‘the one’ - and working out what kinda pickups you like. I like P basses. I like the look, idea of jazz basses. I really like hearing other people play them - but for me it never works out - and I have tried! I also don’t mind musicman type - for years I played Warwick’s where the PJ set up essential covers the MM sweet spot. So that’s what I like. My main bass is a freak of a Sadowsky metro that doesn’t sound like a jazz bass in the low mids for some reason - so that gets the love, and I’ve a Lakland 55-94 which is essentially a jazz with the ability to have a MM style pickup at thr bridge… but the pickups are fat and warm with pleantly of low mids … so more precision like … so that stays! where do you like your pickups @Supernaut? Work that out and except for freaks like my metro, you can narrow down from randomly chasing ‘tone’ to knowing more or less what you’re looking for… and know when a whole bass just isn’t you vs a set of pickups isn’t you… @Clarky has two very very nice basses for sale at present - I know for a fact that the beautiful blue one I would like to like I wouldn’t get on with, but the other one I would if I could justify two Ps!

If you think it’s a P sound you are after look for a used BB414 or 424 or 434 - for £300 or less you can test out if that’s what you are after
  17. I find that as a 100% self taught musical ignoramous who only really learned for fun… that there’s quite a few bands I’ve been in where I would be the only person to understand what @xgsjx was talking about… - that’s unfortunate then other bands there’s been fully trained amazing pros and I’ve kept quiet and try not to mess things up too much
  18. I like the way that something seems to have have squashed the fretboard in the other side of the 1st fret too! I'm glad you didn't end up with a criminal record after getting a bass back like that! And three cheers for Jon Shuker
  19. was on my watchlist... was going to bid... then my 3 year old had a meltdown and at one point bit me. "did you bite me?" "no my sister did" "your sister was in a different room" "no she bit you" "She's also 6 months old, and only has one tooth!" And I missed the auction.
  20. I do wish the blue one in your lineup above had had lollypop tuners
  21. I used to go to a church where there would be a pile of songs we would "probably" play and the leader would just pick and choose as we went led by whatever was happening in the meeting and what other ppl were bringing. Musically you could either get grumpy and annoyed by a lack of structure... or embrace it and get a really good musical workout and enjoy having to write baselines on the fly.
  22. That’s not a quarter pounder SPB-3 but a SPB-1 I prefer the one you’ve got bu a long way!
  23. But I didn't go this year?
  24. In this thread yes!
