  1. Grit... and the fact it’s orange? i am also sat resisting the urge to buy a 1024!
  2. Yeah kudos to you @Ricky Rioli
  3. oooh well done finding that. An auction should have some fairly good money laundering regulations that mean they should know exactly who's selling and who's buying.
  4. Ask Mrs Travis in a few months
  5. I enjoyed it! You wait it will catch on, soon enough Davie504 will be doing extreme bass balancing videos... you do probably need to share a video of you playing it...
  6. 😲 wow - are you sure you want to move on such a great bass?!
  7. you might want to get this moved into the "wanted" forums, but seeing as I've only seen a couple since I first logged onto basschat... @Bassassin might be able to help, maybe

    Moollon

@Sibob bumped this and then I saw Platypus lovely Moollon. It looks great, love the gold guard. If had pulled the trigger on the ocean metallic with mint guard I got a quote for last year I would almost be at the right end of the queue now. As it is I decided to go with something made in the UK, partly cos I wanted it more but also cos it wasn't a 12-14 month lead time...ironically delays mean I'm still waiting!!
  9. I was trying to work that one out -from the quotes I was thinking politician or bus driver
  10. The “treats to sell” or the “butt me”?
  11. good point! I'm getting to play bass at church on Sunday! Can't wait.
  12. Once a disease gets out of control, a vaccine programme is a major key to getting immunity levels up to allow you to get out of endless lockdown cycles. However, letting a disease get out of control is a choice, and when it is the speed and ability to lock down areas quickly helps keep lockdowns short and local... so yes someone in the UK government did very well putting our money into a vaccine programme - And I'm thankful for that. However our initial inability to control the disease, and our inability for the government to act quickly to lockdown areas mean we have 60 times the mortality rate.
  13. I was emailing my counterpart in the company I work for, he made some disparaging comment about having to lock down again, so I looked up the mortality rates hoping to say something along the lines of "well we've had lockdowns but also twice the mortality rate so I wouldn't complain too much" or something. Our mortality rate is over 60 times higher per 100,000 than Australia - now there are differences, the seasons are offset, they have more space, they are struggling with vaccine rollout, and probably haven't been cronicallly underfunding public services for the last decade like we have chosen to at repeated elections, but still - 60 times the mortality rate. That's crazy.
  14. and not a perfect match, but get whoever is spraying it to match MINI British racing green iV or close enough...
  15. Was the AVRI '57 ever made in gold? (as in he's no reason to lie about the finish he stripped off) I tried one once when I was starting out on bass, trans white like @vinorange's .... it's still on the GAS list 20 years later
  16. Some ideas here for you (borrowing an old photo from @phsycoandy, sans frets...)
  17. I've tried it. It's better than that in person
  18. Nah, I was completely inaudible on the YouTube as the bottom end of the acoustic was so booming. oh well. Everyone is outside for worship where they can sing and it's streamed down... the song after the preach though everyone knew the bass was there! I even used chorus for the first time!
  19. I was on a few weeks back - That was a smile hand signal I’m trying to make
  20. Best - Frightened Rabbit at Queens hall Edinburgh, after midnight organ fight had gone big and a sort of homecoming worst- as a student I used to work doing Leafleting, surveys or ticket ripping so I got paid to see a lot of gigs. The worst was fightstar, the fella from busteds band. He had been attacked on stage the night before so security was crazy (getting to the venue office to get paid was a pain) But the music was pretty bad. The support was even worse, just not ready to gig standard. oddest- I turn up at a venue Mid Edinburgh Festival so most nights I’m going to a gig, and to be honest unless I’m excited about the band I just turn up with an open mind to be surprised, anyway I turn up to find a 5piece rap group locked outside hammering on the door, manage to get them and myself in to find the headliners soundchecking, big band, very proficient, arsy guitarist who’s moaning that he’s in front of a horn section...Some kind of Funk cover band? and a tiny girl sat crosslegged knitting in the middle of the floor. She got up and sung one of the songs, vaguely recognised the song, any way, the band came across as a bit full of themselves but she was nice enough. Hardly anyone came to the gig, I can’t remember staying for much of it. The rap group were good. of course the next day I found out that the tiny lass was Amy winehouse and band led by mark ronson went on to sell a few records...
  21. I guess the question is - Would our current welfare state make any of this possible today?
  22. <insert inane joke about viagra bills and at least they are the right colour for Andy here>
  23. whatever working class is in 2021, I'm pretty sure there's music being made and listened too, broadcast on pirate radio... it just probably doesn't sound like anything the average Basschat member would be into. If we set aside the class thing, even in the indie/rock/punk spheres that exist music is being made and released on more DIY or low key production spirit in local scenes around the UK. The problem probably isn't the music not existing, it's you not finding it and supporting it... My mate had a really interesting habit that I've tried to continue, I recommended a friends album - he listened to 60s of it and bought it on bandcamp on the basis it sounds good and I'm supporting music being made. It's a good habit to get into, like something, buy it on band camp (or similar)
  24. aye! @bagsieblue - what does it sound like?
