Yeah, slot parallel to the string to have a fender jazz/precision type response, perpendicular for a musicman type response with stronger fundamental . oddly enough it did work!

Wait till you read Leo’s patent for the slot pole pieces…

Royal blood as inspiration?

and don't even try to keep up with what Andy Travis actually owns...

You know - if I were comparing South Korean fender shaped basses it would be interesting to know how Bass Collection and the Ashdown/Lakin ones compare.

I will probably never be able to get that out of my head!!

It depends on the church - in some a slick practiced performance a la Hillsongs is what they are going for - in which case having the songs beforehand is kinda a vital way of getting there. in other churches their approach to “spirit led” might mean the set list is twenty songs and nobody knows exactly what will end up being played. So a lot of thinking on your feet. ive been in both, both have positives both for learning as a player and also learning as a band. You know what, I can turn up somewhere, get a chart (or scribble one down) and improvise a baseline on the spot… now while it would be nice to have had the songs beforehand, I’m not sure there’s many other environments where I would have learnt that. Esp in a smaller band where you end up playing a major part it changing a set of chord changes into a song… im thinking of taking @xgsjx as an example and trying to play without music - which will stretch how I think about playing

Or 100 plus songs and you might not know what you will be playing, in what key untill 10 min before…

Hi Hans im after a new bass for a reunion show love Ryan Hi Ryan, of course your signature Warwick will cost €xx,xxx each, and as a long term user we will of course do our usual discount of 50%. Shall we fire up the CNC machines and get going? H Hi Hans each?! Even with your discount that’s more than a bloody Fodera… actually take a rain check, I’ve a feeling they will cost less Ryan

I think then we’re saying the same thing a different way!

I’m not an expert but I didn’t thinks that’s how OMG worked… On L1000 forward switch is the pickup in parralel, middle single coil and rear is OMG - which is essentially series with the bigger bass and treble you expect with series - Leo then wired a cap to send the treble to ground - leaving the massive bass boost of series but without the top end

The catalogue above lists the neck wood as Bete- which I think is what we would call African Walnut -

Also - try amp blocks on own without cab. Some of the cab sims sound mushy
