I went to visit Alan last week and nr 0100 is coming to live in my house! http://www.acguitars...k/Available/19/
Fantastic mate! Really chuffed for you! Remember though, pics or it never happened... Eude
There is plenty of debate over these modules. I think the key is that GBenz really know how to make a module give its all with clever technology and cooling methods. I would be quite interested to see the 900 watt GB amps tested. The Streamliner is an absolute volume hammer though.
That's a good point mate, I don't ever recall folks complaining about the GB's being too quiet, maybe Fender don't know what they're doing, or perhaps they borrowed the means to test wattage off Peavey... For what it's worth, I've heard that the power stage in the Fender Rumble 350 is identical to the one in the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0. Fender rate it at 350W, GB at 600W... Eude

You could go for an Ibanez Promethean combo (the older style one, the new one is only 300W without the removable head, or one of the HB or Red Sub ones, if you don't mind slumming it ... Small foot print, very small in the case of the Ibby, 500W removable head, 8 Ohm speaker out. Loud enough for small gigs on its own and for on stage monitoring for anything bigger with PA support. There's also the MiBass 220 with their Mi10 cab, would have a similar footprint to the Promethean. Heard wonderful things about the Ashdown MiBass kit. There's always one of these too >> http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=86 EBS Reidmar with one of the EBS 1x10 NEO Cabs? Oh, and there's a few Phil Jones combos which might be interesting, although they're all a bit quiet, more intended for an acoustic environment, and may be a little hifi sounding. Eude

That is an absolute peach mate
Hi Bud, I went for 45-105's. They're really nice strings eh !! Kind on the fingers too. I'll soon be ordering another set for my Jazz Bass as well.
Very nice Must put in an order for some more methinks... Eude
Absolutely stunning collection you've got there!!! After your fretless GAS you could get a 3 string and a 7 string to complete the set If ever you get bored of playing them, I know of a good home for them...
Ha ha, thanks man I reckon a fretless will complete the justifiable basses anyway, probably never going to want a 7 string though, bit too big for me, a 3 string might be fun though... Will keep you in mind if they need a holiday Eude

I keep bugging them about making a kick back 1x12 combo with a removable 500W head, with a matching 1x12 cab, or perhaps make it stack nicely with the RS112 cab... Something a bit cheaper than the RH range, with a simpler front end, like the BH250 would be perfect, although I would prefer separate low and high mid controls. I'd buy one in a hot minute! Eude
What a lovely trio !
Why thank you All I need now is a fretless...

Nice What gauge did you go for? Eude

+1 for SIT Silencers. They can be quite bright to start off, but never harsh, eventually, they will die down a little and sound a bit closer to flats after a while. I find the mids a bit more pronounced than the regular SIT Nickels which a little darker, but still have a nice growl to them too, maybe try them too. I used to use Sunbeams and Nickel LoRiders a lot and the Silencers are up there with them in my opinion, so I think you might like them. Just for the record, I used to use 45 65 85 105 (130) in DR's, but I prefer a slightly lighter gauge for the heavier strings when using the Silencers as they're a little tighter, I use the following (30 - for the high C's) 45 65 80 100 (125) Definitely worth a try Eude

Slight update, not technically a settee, and a proper crappy phone cam pic, but you get the idea. 3 ACGs makes for a very happy Eude, just need one more now to sooth my GAS... Will do a proper photo, on a proper settee soon Eude

Waghorn Guitars RD Artist "Supreme" Bass Clone. "WILL BE FINISHED TODAY!"
Wal pups are pretty unique and have a two coils per string if i remember correctly. I dont know of anyone else that uses/builds them. SGD Lutherie was looking to build them at one point but i dont know if he ever got round to it. http://www.sgd-lutherie.com
I've been following SGD's thread on talkbass for those pickups, its a bickering mess, and really I don't think they'll be on the market anytime soon. I've had a shot of the bass Alan is talking about, featuring the ACG Multicoil Pickup, and it sounded brilliant! I know which pickups I would rather have Really interesting sounding spec by the way. I've always loved the look of the RD Artist, it doesn't rate very highly as far as playability is concerned when you're 5 foot 6 though... Eude -
Nice set up matey! Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it. Especially if you get to gig it Eude

Welcome to the club mate That's a gorgeous bass you've got there. Sister to my one too, well kinda... Eude

Old thread bumparoo. You still looking for one of those weird Yamaha basses? Is this one?... http://webshop.cashconverters.co.uk/auction-item/458935/yamaha-motion-b-mb-ii-bass-with-hard-case Eude -
Go on, go on, go on! Loving mine, you know you want to!
You're an awesome(ly bad) influence sk8! Eude

Not boring in the slightest

There's a new Promethean just launched >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p3110.htm Not quite the same, but close enough for pit work I reckon. The CMD121p LM3 from what I've heard is worth every penny however Eude
This head is reviewed in November's BGM( out now). Might be worth looking at it in WHS or even buying it! Gets a decent review too ( there again nothing really ever gets slated!)
Just got home to find my copy, gonna read that review before I go to bed
Fourthly without wanting to get into a slanging match here, the 75w also isn't at all true as the amp has a 250w TC power module. It's true that with the APM engaged by design that a full 250w rating wouldn't be measured via sine wave on a scope, however that isn't a true representation of what a bass guitar signal does in our view.
Thanks for chiming in Bruce, that's very reassuring and not helping my BH250 GAS one bit Eude
Same tech, same test on a shuttle 3.0, MB200 and Reidmar then I would take it seriously
Good point, I'm sure folks will fudge the figures, but probably only to round them up so the spec looks nicer. I am suspicious that TC may have been a little bit cheeky with the RH450/Classic450 heads, especially seeing that some of their endorsees jumped on the RH750 head as soon as they could, but if they had been caught out there is no way in hell they would try it again, that would be business suicide... On a side note, I also read somewhere that the power module in the Fender Rumble 350 head, which is rated at 350W, is identical to the one in a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0, which is 600W, right?... Like sk8 suggested, I'd rather see these type of heads compared in these kinds of tests rather than shot down one by one, at the end of the day it's a hell of a lot of kit for £250 even if the rated wattage is a little off, TC don't market this as a gigging solution, they sell it as a rehearsal up to small/medium gig head. Even with this report, it's the only negative comment I've read anywhere with regards to the power of these things, here and over the pond. Still sorely tempted... Eude
Was chatting in my local shop today and there was one of these being repaired on the techs bench, I asked him what he thought as i thought they look interesting and he said not bad for a 75 watt head... to which I said ahh is that why you're repairing it then, he said nope that's what they put out RMS I've just power tested it now its repaired... So I remember all the fuss with the 450 heads being 200 odd watts and it looks like they're still manipulating things, obviously watts aren't everything but I'm losing more respect for TC each time they launch something backed by highly creative spec and marketing...
That's surprising and disappointing, by all accounts this little guy is a lot louder than plenty of other micro heads in a similar price bracket, some of which are rated up to 350W, does that mean that these other ones are more like 50W?... Eude
