1. I'm a little late to the party, but did you have a look at the new(ish) Fusion gig bags?... Eude

Wow! Tom moves quickly! Looking great mate Eude
  3.
also has a line out so could be hooked up to something like a pjb300 possibly? mmm.... what the hell, will probably give it a whirl! Your new 6 playing ok?
That wouldn't be necessary dude, as you could simply hook it up to any other unpowered speaker to unleash the full 500W at 4 Ohms. The new 6 is insanely good, but not really a surprise there Eude
  4.
Sweet, will have a look, need something that won't sound like a "wasp in a jam jar" but is v portable, will use it for noodling at home as much as anything. I've flogged all my other stuff and at some point will get something a wee bit bigger, possibly a reidmar, not sure yet.
Well the Promethean sounds like a good fit mate. I downsized to one of them when I knew I was moving to London. I've used it live for a few gigs, pub ones without PA support and as a monitor for louder ones, it's proper loud and very VERY full for it's size. It also has an Aux in and Headphone out, so great for use at home too. There's some other folks on here who use one too, no real complaints bar a couple who've been unlucky with quality control, but if you buy through Thomann they have a very good warranty procedure from what I've heard. Eude
  5. Ibanez Promethean 5110 Combo. 1x10"Combo, with removable 500W amp head. Incredibly loud and full for it's size. Built in tilt back stand. Can do hifi and old school sounds, bit more old school than MarkBass gear. Very reasonably price too >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p5110_promethean.htm You could probably get the Eden new for about twice the price... Eude
  6.
Forget these if you have 3 grand and want to spend it on something special. ACG my friend. The mutts nuts
+1,000,000. One stop shop for all your custom bass needs, I won't go anywhere else anytime soon
  7.
ok thanx for the comeback buddy , I thought they where made with Alnico 3 or 5 , but someone can have whatever he want s I guess with ACG
I think Alan ususally does a ceramic pickup at the neck, and an alnico at the bridge, for a bit more variety, but yeah, you can have anything you want, as long as you say please...
  8.
Hey eude, congrats on your bass,by the way, what are these pickups buddy
Hey man, thank you very much. I'm a very lucky chap! The pickups are ACG Single Coils. I believe they're both ceramic too, for a bit more bite Eude
  9. I know that somebody fitted the preamp in a Thumb Bass a few years back and loved it. I can't recall who it was, but there was a thread on here, or bassworld, or whatever it was back then. It seemed to work nicely though. I think the flexability of the ACG Preamp would make it a success in any bass, it'll obviously work differently from bass to bass, but I think it'll be effective wherever you put it. Eude
  10. Lovely pics mate, that's a peach of a bass I really must get some pics of both of mine with proper day light, might have time tomorrow... Eude
  11.
I agree with the hangers being an issue but what about one of the large stands you can get for multiple instruments. One per room, too big to get knicked and very useful for a small outlay
Yeah man, that might work, will pop it on the list Eude
  12.
As it looks like the gear's sorted, I'll add to the mention of whiteboard another handy thing to have in a studio - guitar hangers. Just the two-slopey-prongs sort screwed into the wall, save propping your pride and joy up precariously somewhere while you have a pee/get a drink/write on the whiteboard. Oh, and a rackmount tuner stuck in the wall.
Whiteboard - Cool, will make sure my mate knows about that Tuner in the wall - Sounds like a great idea. The powered desks might end up being racked in some way, so it could sit along with that Hangers - no way, if someone's pride and joy drops out of one by accident, it'll be on the studio's head, not worth the risk, if a stand is that important, you can get a small one and pop it in yer gig bag, I always take a stand to rehearsals... Cheers, Eude
  13.
I'm going Dutch Will post pics soon...
Very nice

  15.
Eude, if you manage to convince your mate that second hand is acceptable, then I am changing round my set up and probably looking to shift my rig: it's a 300W Ashdown ABM head and a Yamaha 2x10 (BBT210), a great, solid, v loud 4 Ohm cab with a tweeter. If he wants that set up for £320 then I can deliver it to him (I'm in Glasgow). If not, I hope he finds what he's looking for. I might be in touch to use the place - I've promised my Edinburgh-based dad (a guitar beginner) that the brother and I will take him to a rehearsal room one day and make lots of noise, so this could be just the place. Matthew
Cheers man. I think he's already pulled the trigger on the GK stuff now, too good an offer to miss out on, 3 year warranty from Thomann too! It's going to be a cracking rehearsal space from I can see, just wish I wasn't so bloomin' far away! Eude
  16.
I got mine as part of the thomann deal. I just wanted some cheap and light for my kala ubass, just to use as a monitor really. Also the added bonus of using it at jam nights where I wouldn't worry about it or care who used it. Gigged it tonight and was quite impressed all things considered.
Nice one man, thanks for the mini-review Eude
  17.
I know the solid-state versus valve loudness thing has been done to death on here, but 100 watts is not outrageous for a solid-state guitar amp IMO, especially if clean sounds are needed. I gig with a 15 watt valve combo on guitar, and I've played through solid-state amps of 50 watts or more that can't match the usable loudness available from mine. I would much rather walk into a rehearsal studio and see almost any 15-30 watt valve combo than the usual Marshall MG or knackered Peavey Bandit (the exception being the Sessionette in one place we use, which is just a nice sounding amp regardless of what it uses). I can get the idea that rehearsal studios want their gear to be low-maintenance though.

Just wondering why a 'rehearsal studio' would need a 100 watt guitar amp. The loudest guitarist in my band has a 30 watt combo for stage use and the other one uses a 16 watt tiny terror - both plenty loud enough for any pub gig so way over the top for a studio. That said, until recently I've been lugging my stage rig to rehearsals at our normal studio but I've just invested in an Eden E210C - 350watts 2X10 . If you want an idea of what not to put in a rehearsal room, check out the sub station in rosyth. Loads of tired second or third hand crap in there to avoid.
My pal is putting in a couple of solid state Peaveys, 112 Bandits I think, which are 100W, but he's also putting in a few 50W valve jobbies too, a Marshall, a Vox and I think a Fender. I know the Peaveys are probably overkill, but he'd pulled the trigger on them before we talked about it as it was such a cracking deal. The advice about bringing in amp stands has been taken though, so that should help keep levels down a bit Substation in Rosyth? Yup been a there a few times. The rehearsal gear was awful, it felt like rehearsing in the early 80s with tired gear from the 70s. Total Crap. The recording studio they have there is very nice though... Eude
  18.
The price has reduced by how much?!?
According to notreble.com it has. This is a lower end mass produced model, I think the insanely priced one is completely hand crafted by Ibanez's top luthier(s)... Eude
  19.
I actually work in a rehearsal studio. We use Line6 amps for guitar and bass. The guitar stuff I'm not enormously keen on but it'll do for rehearsals. However, the bass amps are brilliant from the studio's perspective. The ones we have are Lowdown LD300 pro's. They're stupidly reliable. I've been here over a year, never seen an issue with one yet, and they get used and abused 7 days a week. We get the odd person that whinges about them but usually they just haven't bothered to learn how the amp works, or they need to reign in their expectations and come to terms with the fact that they're not playing Wembley stadium or recording at Abbey Road and the amps here were chosen to be practical for rehearsal purposes. And practical they are indeed. Easy to lug about, and they provide plenty of power and a variety of tones. They're never going to sound just like an SVT rig or a Bassman or whatever else, but they'll get you in the right ballpark which is enough for a rehearsal session. Anyway, the LD300pro is now out of production and has been replaced by the LD400pro which are available here http://www.gak.co.uk...d-400-pro/18694 for £350! Not that i'm promoting that particular online retailer, they were just the cheapest price I found in 2 minutes of googling.
Thanks for that man. My only experience of the LD series is the wee 1x10 combo, which isn't bad at all (although my Promethean whipes the floor with it ) Anyway, my pal is going to pull the trigger on the GK head and cab setup, but should anything go wrong with the order, or if there's stock issues, I'll make sure he sees that combo, a hell of a lot of gear for the money! Eude
  20. Spooky, almost as if someone was listening... http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eb_page12.php?area_id=3&data_id=143&color=CL01&year=2012&cat_id=2&series_id=25 Street price of $1099, not sure what it'll end up as in the UK, but easily sub £800 I reckon. Eude

  22.
OK, I'll do that. Especially since it will shortly be my only head lol
Good man
  23.
oh, cool, whereabouts? I am Mapperley
If you could test it with your MB200 I'll owe you a pint
  24.
want to hear how this sounds.
Well I should manage some 3rd party feedback in a few weeks if nobody else gets hands on anytime soon. I probably won't get up to the studio for a few months yet Eude
