Doh!, missed the first anniversary!
Seriously! That's crazy! Have you been on contact about it? Jon can be a bit crappy on email, but if you can get him on the phone it's always good. Cheers, Eude
I'm not sure.. Mrs. WoT has just rang to tell me it's landed, but I won't be home until later tonight. Fingers crossed!
Cool man, looking forward to hear how you got on. Might treat myself to a WoT Signature Promethean Cover after pay day... Eude
Flipping heck... The cover has arrived! I only sent them the measurements on Wednesday.. Off to a gig, so more tomorrow.
Did you get the measurements right then?... Eude
The FB soapbars are voiced along the lines of Jazz type pickup so there is a similarity between the two. The single coils to me have a more aggressive top end on them and a slightly different bottom end.
Thanks for chiming in Alan, SBs it is then Eude
Yup. Fuller than I expected, not at all reedy or thin which I think many single coils can be, and not that different in truth to the ACG soapbars fitted to Lazarus and Scribble. I don't go for the burpy sound myself so didn't try to get into that territory but I suspect that they'd "do" that sound very well coupled with an ACG preamp. Don't think you'd be disappointed.
Excellent dude, the main thing I want from them is to be aggressive sounding, a little bit like a Jazz bass but hopefully fuller, with more authority and a good gob of mid-range. I'm pairing them with a U-Retro, as I want something a little simpler to use and the option to switch to passive mode if and when it hits the fan, or for certain recording purposes will be very very useful.
I'll reply to this elsewhere, Eude, and probably after tomorrow night as the Tefano will get it's first "proper" outing in a band situation at full whack. I suspect they're everything you're looking for but you can never really tell til you've heard them sit in a mix, I think.
Any SB based news messer Scoop? Eude
Mind you, they've added it to their on-line catalogue based on my measurements. I hope I was accurate... Time will tell...
Oooo, pressure's on then I'm it'll be fine dude, I'll probably order myself one soon enough too. Cheers, Eude
Order placed for a cover from Roqsolid... 40-odd quid. I'm going to use it more for gigging with one of my bands, so it'll be worth it. I'll report back with pics, etc. when the cover arrives.
Nice one dude, looking forward to seeing the results. Are you going to something that just slips over the top allowing access to the handle on the top? Eude

ACG Gallus with side leds. NOW TRADED thanks James.
Having a custom cover made for my Promethean Combo, a simple slip over padded cover with access hole to the handle on the top. My combo is being used exclusively at all my gigs at the moment so got to get the little guy a bit of protection. If the cover turns out okay I will post some photos and details of supplier. Nothing but praise for this little amp so far Stu

Cool! I've just asked Roqsolid for a quote for a cover... I'll post here when they get back to me. I used mine at a 'proper' gig for the first time last night - my main rig is set up somewhere else. The band I was playing with isn't loud (the drummer uses a Cajon, drum and a Handsonic), but the punters were chatty and noisy so we had to crank it up a bit more than normal. The Promethean coped brilliantly. Obviously it didn't have the authority of my main rig at that kind of volume, but it wasn't lacking. It surprises me constantly...
I'm really interested to see how you both get on with yer custom covers, have considered doing something similar Eude

Very nice Scoop, this one's coming along loverly Eude

Also Scoop, you got any feedback on the 2 SB pickups in your Tefano now you've had it for a while? I looking for a big, aggressive, authoritative voice from this bass, reckon the SBs will fit the bill?... Eude

Subscribed Pics of my ACG Fin SC 5 string coming very soon. Lovely collection there mate! Eude
(Scoop gets a bit Highlander) "There can be only one..." Um, Lazarus was the son of Boetius (sp?) but I dunno if he had a son himself. His sisters were Miriam and Martha so you can use those if you like. Martha's a nice name for a bass. I'm waffling aren't I? Nice specs by the way, Eude. I claim noodling rights at the next Moffat bash.
We can decide on a name once the bass appears, however, "Martha, son of Lazarus" does have a nice ring to it, albeit in a "Boy named Sue" kinda way. You're free to claim noodling rights mate, I've certainly spent a lot of time on your basses Eude

Quick update... I've changed my mind about the shape. It's been no secret how much I love Scoop's Skelf SC, so I decided that I'll go with the same shape. This bass will now officially be known as "Lazarus, Son of Lazarus". So may bass will hopefully look a bit like this >> But a little shorter, wider, with 1 extra string, and with slightly different woods... Cheers, Eude

Maybe check out these pickups too... http://thunderbuckerranch.com/
I've just been told that it will have a Bang & Olufsen Class D power section on one of their photos on Facebook
Sounds like the one that's in the MiBass then. Does it really need to be so big then?... Eude
-
They have hinted at possibly doing a Class D head with the new valve preamp, I was hoping it'd be a bit more compact though, something like the GK MB Fusion perhaps...
Thought i best update my Shuker collection having recently welcomed another into the pack.. So here we have : Singlecut 6 - Commissioned by Eude.. this thing is a lovely 33" Bass, very comfy with a very direct sound, can be loud in the mix without killing other instruments.. Jazz 5 - My 21st Birthday present from my parents, Upgraded to an East Preamp, sounds killer, the East really has made this the most versatile bass i own. Artist Pro 6 - Wow, this thing i mad, sounds like a double bass and weighs nothing! crazy. Had a bit of a game getting the action where i wanted, but thats what you sacrifice for a piezo bridge i guess!
Wow mate, what a cracking collection! How you getting on with the 33"er? Notice I've changed my avatar, wouldn't want to be done for bass bigamy... Eude

Reckon it might still be worth checking in with Alan, his basses are amoung the best I've played and he's great to work with. He ain't a huge fan of passive basses, but he's made one in the past, you never know... Eude

How about a Lecompte? They do a bit of a T-40 Tribute... http://www.lecomptebass.com/t4t/ Eude

Just to chime in, I think all the Grafts I've messed around with have been fairly light, but as Alan says, as with any other bass, it all depends on the wood. There tends to be no rhyme nor reason to why, for example, one bit of Alder can be a lot heavier than another, however I've yet to play a Graft that was even slightly weighty yet. All the proper custom ACGs I've played, including my own, like everyone else has already said, feel a lot lighter than they probably are simply down to the good design, the all balance perfectly and feel fairly effortless once on a strap, including Mark's 9 string behemoth! As with any custom bass you can pretty much choose your spec to achieve a lighter weight if so desired. My 5 string is just under 8 lbs, thanks to a ridiculously light Swamp Ash body... Cheers, Eude
I did but it fails to meet my spec in the width department. I have now purchased something which looks promising but will not reveal what it is until I have modified it and proved that it is totally satisfactory. If not I shall remain stumm.
No bother dude, just thought I'd toss it in the ring. If my circumstances were different I'd have had that "wee" Ampeg in a minute! Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you're concocting Good luck! Eude
