1.
So say a gig in a big room, big stage, 400 people. Would you be comfortable enough using it as your stage monitor DI'ing out to P.A?
400 might be pushing it a bit with a single 1x10 but it worked fine on one gig I played in one of the Speigaltents. Must've been about 200 folks there and the sound guy had me turn down as I was messing with the front of house sound, he thought I was using the MarkBass rig behind my little Promethean Eude
 2.
Kinda defeats the purpose of the tiny wee 1x10 bugger though don't it? Hmmmmmm....
Ah, well it does and it doesn't, depends on your requirements. I needed something small enough to use as a REAL practice amp but with enough baws to play smallish gigs without PA support and to use as a stage monitor for bigger gigs. I'll probably look to get the 1X10 ext cab once I get into a band down here in the big smoke but for now it's absolutely perfect Eude
 3.
I'm watching this thread with interest. Thinking of picking up a combo in the next couple of months.... despite the potential hiss issues! Couple of questions... Someone in the thread mentioned that the next time they might buy 2 x 110 promethean extension cabs to go with the combo. Does this mean the combo can run 2 extension cabs... which would mean it can go below 4 ohms? Next question. Does anyone have the IBANEZ P5210 (the 2x10)? That would be pretty cool for getting the combo up nice and high - I like to have speakers close to my head as possible. Plus it should move some air (3x10 as opposed to 2x10). At the moment I use 2 1x12 cabs, so I reckon I'd need at least 3x10 cabs to get near to the same volume levels. EDIT - Just realized the 2x10 is a combo.... anyone have it? PHWOOOOARRR!!!!
As far as I'm aware you can only run 1 extension cab with the P5110 and I think the P5210 might be running at 4 Ohms already which would mean you couldn't hook up an extension cab. This "hiss" issue is fairly rare it would seem and any reasonable retailer would replace or refund if it cropped up, never happened with mine I'm not sure if the P5110 and 1X10 cab or the P5210 would be a match for the overall sound of your 2 X 1X12 set up, but I replaced a single 1X12 with the little 1X10 combo and I don't regret it one bit. I guess there is naturally less weight to the sound, but you can dial it back in with the EQ plus the sheer "swing-round-the-head-one-handedly-ability" of the little bugger is insane considering power of it! Cheers, Eude
 4.
Body has been made and the pickups will be by Wizard or Aaron Armstrong. Pictures posted when I receive them.
Wow - that was quick!... Eude
 5.
Any more ideas on this? Has anyone used the Promethean 1x10 with a drummer?
Yup, many many times. In the kind of setup you're talking about it's just fine.
 6.
You forget, with the Tefano which arrived after I began this thread that makes eight anyway. The crown sceptre and orb stays with the incumbant in the event of a tie. Four out of ten, must try harder. And anyway, who says I'm going to stop at eight? Muhahahahahaha!
Damn you Scoop! The flaw in my plan is the fact that I actually have to win the lottery, something which is highly unlikely... How you getting on with the Tefano anyway? If it needs a rest, or a holiday, I can give you my address
Aaaaaahhhhh, right. You're not going to Sweden. I am the king of misinterpreting the written word.
That's right, I'm stuck in blighty on my lonesome. Not all bad though, as nice as canoeing around Sweden sounds, it's with her work and they're camping out over night too, for a week! My bro is in Sweden at the moment and he says it's not exactly good camping weather this time of year... Eude
 7.
Fixed, for the perfect solution.
No no, the camera stays with me at home. I'm flying solo next week, which is well timed, as I have a wee secret web project I need to get done ASAP! "The wife" will be taking my new Olympus TOUGH camera with her, as they canoeing for the week, that'll be perfect - I couldn't even break it when I took it snowboarding and landed on it several times, cracking wee camera! So I get my new toy all to myself Eude
 8.
Bwahaaa... there goes your weekend!
I'd love nothing better than to spend the weekend with new toys, but I'm out for dinner, and beers of course, tonight, then some friends are down from Edinburgh tomorrow, staying Saturday and going to see Skindred in the evening, then parceling up the wife for a week away with work in Sweden on Sunday! Fiddling with the new toy might have to wait till next week... Eude
 9.
Seeing as Eude failed miserably on this count ( ), allow me to fill in with an ACG singlecut bolt-on neck joint: Yum yum.
Whoops... I wanted to take a new photo for it, but never got round to it. I am taking delivery of a new (to me at least) DSLR today however, so I might just get round to it after all... Eude
 10.
Another update showing the neck laminates of padouk, sycamore and wenge. Looks like a strip of deck chair material
Looking good Dave Just a quick warning, when I win the lottery, I have a further 6 builds planned on "my list", so that'll take me up to 8 ACGs - Ha! Is there a trophy or crown, sceptre and cape that comes with your current title?... Eude
 11. Bump for an incredible bass. I had the pleasure of seeing this bass in the flesh just before it was finished, and oh boy it's made up of some gorgeous pieces of wood! Another thing to note, the Gallus body shape always looks kinda big in photos, but in the flesh it is actually very very compact and all kinds of loverly Good luck with the sale, Eude
 12.
Thanks for your post - I did have my doubts about the price for sure, & was thinking £250 would've been nearer the mark. I think a MIM fiver would be a better quality instrument & generally they sell for around £350 on here. I can't see the seller of the Pro-tone dropping the price that much - i'll have to wait until a passive MIM gets posted for sale!
+1 dude. No way that Squier is "rare" or "sought after" by any means, pretty sure Squier only made it for a couple of years as it didn't sell well. A secondhand MIM fiver would be much more sensible, or perhaps a Squier Jazz Deluxe 5 string, they're apparently very good instruments and I think they can be had new for about £250... ( http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0300575500 ) Good luck matey, Eude
 13.
If I see one for the original £499 with delivery and gig bag ill probably snap it up.
Seriously dude, the bag is only useable as a case to protect it, absolutely useless for carrying it around in...
 14.
Here you go..... http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...s_Redeemer.html It really does give a passive bass lift.
Sounds interesting, I'll need to hunt Youtube for some audio comparisons... Eude
 15.
This is the first 6 string P bass with a true split coil pickup that Jon has done. I think he is looking forward to the build because he has never used a Redeemer circuit before either. I want it for next week if possible??
Can you give me a bit more info on the Redeemer circuit dude?... Eude
 16. This bass sounds gorgeous I've always wondered what a 6 string P Bass would be like, I'm knowing Jon's skills with will be a blinder too. Can't wait to see what he does with the 4+2 headstock too, I think this will be a first from Shuker! The wait might be 6 months, might be longer, but rest assured it'll be worth the wait! Eude
 17.
I hate threads like this...it makes we want to buy one (Ibanez) and I have the mahoney to do so and I am currently looking at what I use to practice but then I read a load of negative stuff about them and it puts me right off. I realise I'm a whinging old PITA and should just buy one and see what all the hoohaa is about
The only bad stuff I've heard was over in the US, bar gafbass's experience. It's not really a gamble when you can send it back... Go on, you know you want too Eude
 18. Nice to see the little Promethean getting some well deserved love. I seriously can't get over how good they are! I'm surprised the uptake hasn't been much greater, but they'll get there for sure if they continue in the same direction, 'Mon the Prometheans! Eude
 19. So you pulled the trigger? Sounds like a really cool bass matey! I'll be following this one closely... Eude
 20.
A bag of sh*te then Eude?
Or a bag of arse, if you want to be more continental... It need it top handle, like on a holdall, as the shoulder strap is rubbish, the weight of the amp, as light as it is, is too much for it and it just stretches out to it's full extent. Plus even if the shoulder strap did stay put, it's a little too awkward to carry that way comfortably... Eude
 21.
I know gaf had two units go wrong. I'd still like one. Thomann had a deal at £499 with delivery for the 1x10 combo plus the gig bag. Anywhere else close?
The bag is appalling, just a warning. It's only useable as a cover, there is no sensible/easy way of carrying it comfortably using the strap - total and utter rubbish. I believe Sk8 is planning on having something custom made for his Promethean, I'll make sure he shares his results... Eude
 22.
Yeah second lot too:-( and an ext cab I later bought separately To me the promethean sound more scooped and hi -fi and refined than the midget which was very snarly, bitey, woody mid bark type sounding, if that makes any sense?!:0)
That's annoying, I've heard of a couple of dodgy efforts, but 2 in t a row is rubbish! I get what you mean about the Midget vs the Promethean, from what Alex has told me the Midget sounds anything but Eude
 23.
Oh yeah!! The midget is very loud indeed. I was gutted that every single piece of promethean kit I had (two combos and two ext cabs) had issues, but I still plan on trying the 1x10 cab 'just one more time' in the future. The midget is an amazing tool, just not my sound, but typically since selling I've had need for one a good few times!! Sods law eh!
You had issues with the second lot of Promethean kit too? Man that's a real shame, mine has been completely stable (touch wood), seriously considering getting the extension cab for it too. How would you compare the sound of the Midget to the Promethean by the way?... Eude
 24.
Did think about that, but fancied a non-TC cab I think, something a little bigger for a 1x12.
How about >> http://www.basscentre.com/bass-cabs/eden-ex112-cab.html ... Eude
 25.
Probably wise, the RS210 will work out I think, but a DB112 would be nice!
Well the RS112, that I think Owain mentioned, might be a good shout dude. It's very compact and looks pretty cool , and even better you could use it along with your RS210 whenever you fancied it... Eude
