1.
I used mine at an open mic last night.. waltzed in with my bass in one hand, and the combo in another. Plonked it on the floor, tilting it up using the built-in stand, set the volume and vintage/modern filter to taste, and... shazam! Ready to go. It sounded great... as it always does. One of the best-kept secrets in bass, these things...
+1 - An amazing little amp! Eude

    Ashdown MiBass

From what I've read, it's going to be substantially smaller and lighter than the LittleGiants, no word on power though. Should be on the Ashdown site soon and will be launched at Musikmesse, very very soon... Thing is, I'd love to like Ashdown gear, but in my experience, either the quality control has gone wanting, or if it does work, it just doesn't sound great. Having said that, they really seem to have pulled their socks up recently, all the valve stuff they've recently released is apparently brilliant! If they can manage to bring out something that can seriously keep up with the new Genz Benz, Mark Bass or Gallien Krueger offerings, I'd be happy to buy British Eude

  4. You should probably change the title of this thread from "Butchering a Pedulla MVP5" to "How to make a Pedulla MVP5 even more awesome". Or maybe just "Hulk Smash MVP5" would do. Seriously though mate, that looks really really good, can't wait to see it finished! Eude
  5. Sold my Shuker 6 string Single Cut Custom to James this week. An absolute gent Great communication all the way through, then drove down to collect the bass in person. Very smooth transaction and a very talented player too! Cheers mate, Ewan
  6. SOLD to an extremely nice guy from Walsall Thank you everyone for your help, kind words etc. Cheers, Eude
  7.
Excellent advice as usual - brilliant! the Ampeg looks great but the Ibanez looks exactly what I need! I'll be placing my order tomorrow! thanks again chaps! Bob
Nice one matey - glad to be of assistance If you have any other questions, you know where we are! Eude
  8. Ibanez Promethean 5110 Combo. It sounds very very nice, can do MarkBass-esque sounds and a fairly nice vintage tone. It tilts back. It's tiny enough to be used as a practice amp. It's very light. Puts out 250W into it's 10" speaker which I've managed to get away with at small(ish) pub gigs without PA support along with a tame drummer. The head is removable and puts out 500W into 4 Ohms. You should be able to pick one up for about £550 shipped leaving you £100 to squander on alcohol and black jack! Eude
  9. Would like to see a more accessible version of the Grooveline though, as I think that's the only way to break the mainstream with more quirky designs... Eude
  10.
My bad. Some of their higher end guitars (J-Custom range especially) sell at well over the price of the Grooveline, it's only natural they were going to start putting basses in that range eventually. It's interesting, Yamaha and now Ibanez have recently put out ranges of very expensive and very high quality basses and there seems to be ripples of discontent or unease you just don't see with similarly priced American instruments.
Yeah, it's purely down to it all being a bit new I think, but I really hope it pans out for them. The Gerald Veasly sig model is crazy pricey, but having watched the "Bass Whisperer" Review on Youtube, you can see where the money has gone. The prestige range of SR basses look incredible value too, if I wasn't a 33"er, I'd already have one of them Eude
  11.
Can we have a review, please?
+1...
  12.
well i love mine !!
That's a lovely looking bass there mate - Congratulations! Eude
  13.
Are you saying that Ibanez can't make a bass to the same standard? If not, why should they charge less?
Sorry, I'm not saying that they can't dude, just that they're not commonly associated at that price range, so releasing something so different at such a high price point will scare some folks off. For me, for my needs, if I had £1800 to spend on a bass, I would definitely go the custom route, but that's because I'm a bit of a pervert. I personally really like Ibanez gear, it's some of the most easy playing and versatile kit out there, and like Lfalex, I'm glad that they keep trying new things. Eude
  14. Pretty sure you could get the bits from Warmoth, all you'd need then would be an assembly job. Oh, and I think Wizard would probably do you a white 5 string P Bass pickup. Really nice idea for a bass though, I reckon a mix of classic looks with modern functionality would be the best of both worlds. Eude
  15. Did anyone get to try these out at the Bass Show?...
  16. +1! Alan's a great bloke, this bass is an absolute peach, in top condition and can provide some amazing tones, from bright and articulate all the way to smooth and loverly. Eude
  17.
Lovely looking bass there man - if you don't get any joy here it's probably worth dropping by the Bass Gallery in Camden and selling it through them - they do take 15% commission but then it saves a ton of hassle and they do shift things all the time... lots of prospective buyers pass through there every day. Just a thought M
Thanks Mike! Already spoken to Alex on the subject. I'm away for a week as of tomorrow, so if there's still no interest generated on here by the time I get back, I think I'll take your advice and pop along and see what's what. Cheers, Eude
  18.
This is so cool... Is it fully active or can u play passive? Are the humbuckers switchable? How much does this weight? thanks and good luck for the sale, this luthier seems real nice...
Glad you approve The bass is fully active, most EMG pickups only run in active, as the pickups have an internal preamp which requires a bit of voltage, never mind the 3 band EQ. The pickups aren't switchable, they just run as regular humbuckers, but can get a really huge range of tones. They're naturally quite bright and aggressive, but as you can hear from the samples, you can tame the tone nicely. Just for info, they're these pickups >> http://www.emgpickups.com/products/index/126/29/2 Weight wise, I think it's about 9 lbs, not featherweight, but certainly not very heavy for a 6 string. I can't weigh it properly as we only have crappy IKEA bathroom scales, not very accurate... Cheers, Eude
  19.
Not. Just not. I've had the pleasure of playing this bass: it's in superb condition, it's top quality and it's very easy to play. Eude's a complete gent too so you can buy in the confidence that you're dealing with an officially "decent bloke" as well. It's got a string too many for me but the 33 inch scale was a revelation - it's just so easy to navigate.
Cheers Scoop, you're a true gentleman
  20.
Hi Eude...Hope all is going well in London...Top geezer to deal with......Cheers John
Hey John, all good thanks, just got married, so coming down here has worked out pretty well! Thanks for your kinds words Hope you're well mate.
Beautiful bass! Good luck with the sale
Cheers dude
  21.
Doesn't really need mentioning (but I will) that Eude is a all round top bloke who keeps his basses in day 1 condish. He ain't a slouchy player either it has to be said. I think I'm right in saying too that this bass is featured on Jon Shuker's site.
Cheers matey, very nice of you to say, but I am a fairly slouchy player Oh, and you're right, it is indeed on the Shuker site, in the Single-Cut Gallery under "Custom" >> http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/scgal.htm It's the only 6 string Bolt-On Single Cut Jon has done as far as I'm aware, a bit of a rare beast Eude
  22. Hey guys, I'm afraid I'm considering moving on my Shuker 6 string. Since moving down to London, I'm not playing nearly as much, this bass isn't getting the attention it deserves and I really need to release some capital so it might have to go. Here's the specs... 6 STRING FRETTED SINGLE-CUT BOLT-ON CUSTOM BODY >> white ash body squareish front edge (to mimic old slab style bodies) forearm contour, rear rib carve and rear edge rounded to 1/2" dark amboina burr drop top individual bridge units 17mm spacing black hardware 2 X EMG 45DC - neck and bridge 18V shuker 3 band eq (internal gain and mid freq control) satin topcoat NECK >> 33" scale 24 frets medium frets 5 piece maple/wenge neck 20.5mm deep at 1st fret, 22mm at 12th, gentle C profile, pretty slim rosewood board 20" radius dark amboina burr headstock veneer gotoh gb707 tuners 57mm nut carbon fibre neck reinforcement MOP side dots only two way truss rod brass nut satin finish Here's some pics... The bass in absolutely mint condition, however there has been a tiny bit of shrinkage/creepage/movement in the headstock veneer, not sure how this kind of thing happens. It's only slightly visible on under the A string tuner, hopefully this pic will help show it. The bass is a very compact instrument, partly down to the 33" scale and plays very nicely. I'm only 5 foot 6 with smallish hands and had no problems getting around the bass, just for a sense of scale, here it is in use... There's some sound clips here >> http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/01DontLetTheDemonsBite.mp3 - Fingerstyle, front pickup, slight bass boost and a smidge of treble cut http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/02ChordalPiece.mp3 - Fingerstyle again, back pickup with flat EQ http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/03SlapandFingerFunk.mp3 - Slap piece and a bit of fingerstyle, both pickups, slight bass boost and some mid cut. OK, like I said, this is a feeler for now, I just want to gauge interest over the next couple of weeks which will hopefully help me make up my mind. I'm looking for offers around SOLD which will include a Hiscox hard case, which the bass didn't originally come with. I'd be willing to ship at the buyers expense too. No interest in trades whatsoever. I'm going to be away for a week starting on Saturday, so if anyone gets in touch after Friday the 11th, I'm not being rude, I'm just not going to be available, so I'll reply to any posts/PMs after the 20th of March. Over and out. Eude
  23.
I'm sure I ordered around the same time as you, which is even more confusing. I guess waiting all this time, then being told I may have to wait a further few months is a bit demoralising. I hope you enjoy it once you get it. The only worry I have is living with the thinner neck, since I'm so used to my chunky ray neck.
Sorry to here that dude. On a side note, I don't think the neck is that thin, it's definitely thicker than a standard Jazz Bass... Eude
