1. Had no idea they would be charging so much for them. Real shame too, as it'll just mean there'll be very limited take up and it'll vanish. Smart move would be to price them similar to the similarly specced higher end SR Range which are silly value for money in my opinion and have them as a ergonomically sound slightly less dinky alternative to the SR and something a bit less metal and more manageable than the ATK or BTB basses. I know Ibanez do make some fairly expensive high end kit, but people do not associate them with high end prices, for the same money you could have a MM Big Al, a very high end Fender, a nice Warwick, or a custom from many of the UK's based luthiers... Oh well, two thumbs up for trying something a bit different - two thumbs down for poor marketing. D. Must try harder. Eude
 2.
Ohhh, good timing! My Vintage Sunburst/Tort/Rosewood Big Al 5 SSS is in the UK right now and will be with me from the Bass Merchant on Thursday!
Exciting times dude
 3. Sorry to bump a fairly old thread but... Well I had a fairly good go on a black 4 string maple fingerboard'd single MM pickup'd Big Al on Sunday past in Brighton's GAK. WOW! I was blown away! It was set up horribly, the G string was as dead as badger road kill but even still, what a bass. The variety of instantly usable tones out of that one pickup was amazing, sounded very very nice in passive too. I imagine the 3 pickup version must be insane! Also, not on does it look cool, it's also very comfortable to play and balances very nicely sitting or standing. Seriously impressed with the bass, although I struggle a bit with the cost of the bass versus some of the fancier bits of woods and strings out there, but I'd have one of these any day over a similarly priced Fender that's for sure! Basically, I'm starting to see what the fuss is about Eude
 4.
No news whatsoever, not a sausage!
That's a shame dude, Jon's communication can be pretty pants. Try dropping him another email, however, if he doesn't get back to you by the following day, I'd just give him a ring... Eude
 5. Meant to say before, that bass sounds amazing, particularly the bridge in singlecoil mode. Awesome Eude
 6.
Fantastic looking and sounding bass, well done. But where did you get the Sandberg parts?
You can get the bridges here >> http://www.musicstore.com/en_EN/EUR/Basses...-BAS0004215-000 Fairly keenly priced too... 7.
Of course Stefan being situated in Germany won't have a clue what it's about..... hmm that means I'll get the jump on him.
Ha ha! It's nice to know that there's some folks out there as "sad" as me though. Eude
 8. Great work mate! Really classy and versatile bass. I agree with the comments about the scratch plate, sits really nicely on your bass. Well who's is the best Pingray? Only one way to find out.... FIGHT! I'll get my coat... Eude
 9.
Yeah, that looks quite cool too, but isn't it a signature model for someone? I think just the basic Basic will be fine for me. Just spoke to PMT - very helpful. I'll pop up to Brum when I get chance and give one a go. I've always liked the sound of a single MM pickup, but never got on with the feel of a stingray; think I prefer a slimmer, more modern neck feel, so hopefully the Basic will do the job. I think I would go for................. Violetburst! black hardware, white pickguard. I know some of you will think it's horrible, but when I had my first bass (age 13/14, white Squier P), I wanted more than anything a purple bass! Re-sprayed my squier metallic purple and it looked like a pile of crap, but that was more to do with my handiwork! Trouble is, I think I might have to sell my TRB1004 to raise funds, but I've got a 1005 too so it's not the end of the world.
Fair doos, just thought I'd pop that in for a look. It's not a signature bass, from what I've read it's just a special edition made for that particular German music shop. I like the sound of your specs! That'll be one striking looking bass, personally I'd go with a black guard, but that's just me I take it you'll be ordering it from Sandberg then, through a shop, rather than buying off the shelf? Be sure to put up some pics when you pull the trigger matey, I'm sure there'll be a lot of people interested. Eude
 10. Always liked the look of these basses, but never laid eyes on one in real life. Seen a played plenty of the J and P ones though and the quality is top notch. There's something about the Basic though, and I bet it makes very nice MusicMan-esque sound. They've done a special edition of the Basic too, called a "Rayman". http://www.musik-schmidt.de/Sandberg-Raymaen-4-VW-HG.html Very nice Eude
 11.
That interests me greatly, but been looking at the Orange Terror Bass as well! Need to have a play I think
They're doing a 2X10 Combo with a 300W version of the Terror Bass built in. http://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-guitar-amp...-bass-combo.asp Might fit the bill nicely, will certainly give you the grindy tone you're after, however it has been called a bit of a one trick pony, so best to give one a shot first. Also, you can probably pick up a MarkBass LittleMark and an Aguilar GS112 or DB112 within your budget, probably have to go secondhand though, unless you go for the LittleMark250. Cheers, Eude
 12. +1 Hate the 5 in-line headstock too, looks off balance somehow, plus mini tuners look weird in a Fender headstock. Can't wait to see how this pans out mate Eude
 13.
Thanks guys, these are all such useful replies. It's good to hear from someone who has both - I loved the sound of the LB and I imagined it incredible for recording but at the price I need something that can do LOUD live stuff too. I think I've made the right choice, as I've started gigging more regularly. Maybe, MAYBE my Sterling through the Terror could be a tad aggressive for recording with my folky stuff, but we'll see. I'm not too bothered about EQ either, the active EQ on the Sterling is enough - I leave my current amp flat and do it all on the bass anyway... I've decided to pair it up with a white matamp 2x12. It's going to sound and look absolutely SICK.
That will look absolutely PIMP! Nice choice dude. Eude
 14.
Nah, an Epi Goth with bridge issues: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180627722045
Bargain dude!
 15.
Anyone know if the GS212 and DB212 are the same cab but with different styling? From what I can see the spec is identical but the DB212 is about £100 more with a classic (fender style) look whereas the GS212 has a black grill. Are they the same just with a different appearance? I am looking to buy a 212 and am not sure if the DB is worth the extra £100. Cheers all.
Hey there, the DB Range is designed to give fuller mids than the GS's provide. I love the sound of the GS Range, but they are often described as sounding a bit "scooped" in the mid-range at volume. To my ear, the GS's have a really full low-end, slightly shy mids which can provide a really aggressive tone. The DB, again to my ear, has much more mid punch and a slightly more vintage tone. My experience is based on the 1X12 cabs, but is probably relevant. The DBs do look a lot cooler and are slightly heavier, but sound-wise, for me, I'll be heading back to the GS112(s) as soon as there's money/space/time (delete as appropriate). Just my 2p. Cheers, Eude
 16.
Oh my....what a thought!
Do the Orange Amps not go down to 2 Ohm? If that's the case, could you not rock 4 SP212s from the one head?...
 17.
Why not. Bumps it back up to the top at the very least.
Will sort you out soon. Been looking for an excuse to take some more photos Might have to wait till I'm home during daylight hours though... Eude
 18. Bolt-On Single-Cuts Rock! And none much more than an ACG. You want me to post a picture of the joint on mine, just for illustrative purposes?... Eude
 19. Sold a Sansamp BDDI to Pete. Cracking communication and a top fella all round. Have a gold star matey Eude
 20.
I think the current plan is another 4x10 and a Terror Bass, for now. Thats a lighter amp for when we are space saving, and a cab that can cover most gigs and be added to my 4x10 for a modular 8x10.
If it was me, I'd go with the Terror Bass and 2 SP212s. From my experience, at least, I love the sound of 12s more than anything else and the prospect of a modular 4X12 rig that you could pretty much carry in one go is the stuff of dreams! Each to their own of course Good luck dude and congrats on the endorsement! Eude
 21. If I was you, I'd weigh up where your Musicmans crossed over sound/situation-wise and sell off the excess for the G&L, I appreciate that's probably much easier said than done though... Eude
 22.
I know what you mean....lovely! However, I think they retail for about £1700!!!!
Well you do have a lot of Musicmans... Eude
 23. Just a thought dude, but what about the G&L JB? http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/USA/basses/JB/index.asp http://www.youtube.com/user/BassGuitarMag#p/u/14/EJNxLqWcJLQ Sounds the part to me, and with the higher end G&L quality control, you're probably up there with the MusicMan(Men?)... Eude
 24. Subscribed! Obviously... Good luck dude. If I spot anything that might be helpful I'll give you a shout. Eude
