1.
guess theres not enough information on their website?
Gave the website a good read, but there's always holes in that kind of info. I was actually asking them about how usable they think it will be compared to a small class D amp that is louder on paper. As you'll see already from the thread, some folks say it will be a lot louder than your average 30W, some folks say that's nonsense, I'm not sure what to believe so I just thought I'd ask for Ashdown's opinion is all. I also was wondering if they have a definite date for release and details of UK availability. Eude
 2.
unusual them not getting back, depends if chris bates the head of sales is about i think.
Been about 4 days now, I guess they're probably inundated with questions about the new range from around the world. I don't mind waiting, however the longer I wait the more they're pushing me into the arms of a lovely new Orange Terror Bass Eude
 3. I emailed Ashdown with a few questions about the LB, but nothing back yet When I do hear back though, I'll post the info I'm surprised they don't put a valve front end with a Little Giant power section... Cheers, Eude
 4. Yup, Jon makes an awesome Jazz Bass! I still feel bad about parting with mine, it was the easiest playing 4 string I've ever played, but Jazz Basses just ain't my sound... It's looking great mate Cheers, Eude
 5. Hot Damn that's one hell of a fingerboard! It looks like Marbled Chocolate Cake! Good enough to eat Eude
 6.
The bottom end rivals any cab i've ever heard, apart from an ACOUSTIC 360 rig i had in the late eighties. Weight wise, i reckon no more than 15kg for the cab.
Thanks dude Useful info indeed. That's a fairly light cab for a 2X10 too! I'm almost certain I'll be getting one of these badboys soon, but it might be nice to have a matching cab, black (which I'm sure I found online somewhere), especially if it's a 4 ohm jobby, to tease out the full 500W, and at that size and weight it'd be even more portable than my MarkBass - Aguilar set up I have right now. It'll take a lot to make me part with the Auguilar cab though, so I'll have to be dead sure Cheers, Eude
 7.
Played a Bass Terror kast saturday for about half an hour through one of the SP210 isobaric cabs, with the eq flat, gain and volume at just past twelve o'clock, and using my Stingray. The volume on tap is phenomenal, and if you like the sound of valves breaking up, it'ds the way forward. Roll on saturday when i go and but it.
Hey man, how was the SP210 cab? Just wondering if the claims by Orange about phenomenal low end where true. Also, what was the weight like? Cheers, Eude
 8. That's gonna be one cool bass mate! I think it's best without the cutaway too Who did your mockup for you?... Eude
 9. I suffered from this at a gig about a week ago. The first song in the set was just guitar and vocals, giving me a whole 4 minutes to panic about the fact I'd forgotten the bass line to the following song, which handily starts out with just drums and bass, no room for mucking about... Thankfully, I just remembered it, but only just, pure sh*t me breeks! Cheers, Eude
 10. Always loved the Soundgear 6ers, and the early ones are gorgeous, especially when it's a tiny bit Mojo'd... Nice find pal, £270?!... I'm one jealous guy Eude
 11.
I used my BT for the first time in anger at a practice last night. Paired with the Matamp 212 it was a recipe for disaster. This thing is loud, and i mean stupidly so. I had the volume on the first level and gain at the 3rd line and that was all i needed to keep up with the band. The one problem i had was the head going walkabouts on top of the cab... I couldn't crank it much more, because when i did, i induced nausea in the vocalist. It is a setup that has exceeded any expectations. I didn't know £850 could make that sort of sound at that level, i'm a very happy chap indeed.
Nice one dude, Glad it's working out! Had a wee shot of one of these this week in Red Dog, came a away a little unenthusiastic, but I hadn't been told about the passive tone stack and I was playing quietly through a Hartke 4X10, not my kinda cab, with a lifeless MIM P Bass with dead strings and really high action. Well out of my comfort zone... I still need to try it with my Shuker and my Aguilar cab. Still cool to give you a shout next week matey? Eude
 12.
+1 Also another thread reminded me of Gabriel Nelson, bass player for Cake, excellent player who changes between pick and fingers depending on what the song needs. ALWAYS writes great basslines regardless how he's playing it! Si
+1 too, and another +1 from the man from Cake, brilliant bass player! I think every technique has its own merits, as they have they're own sounds and their own suitability depending on where and what you're playing. A good bass line is a good bass line. You could be playing your bass with a shoe standing on your head, but as long as it suits the music, it's in the pocket and it feels right, it'll make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up regardless Cheers, Eude
 13.
word from ashdown is that the LB 30 watt valve head will be £399 when it becomes available.supposingly its as loud as an abm 500w head!
WTF!!!! I heard it'll be under 40lbs too! I think I NEED one of these, assuming they're any good of course. Any ideas on when they'll be available?... Eude
 14.
Thanks Eude - can't wait for the next gathering of the clans and us sassanachs up there. It'd be nice to have one in the Spring / early Summer methinks.
Hopefully it won't be too far away, but far away enough for folks to amass some new gear I'll hopefully have a 2nd GS112 by then too! Cheers, Eude
 15.
At the recent McBash in Moffat, we were A/Bing different cabs and heads - there was a load of different stuff including Markbass, EA, TC Electronics and a Barefaced Compact. I don't mean to blow my own trumpet but at the end of the day, everyone was blown away with my rig (AG500 + one GS112). That said, each to his own but the GS112 is an amazing cab especially with the right head.
I'll second that Your AG500 with a single GS112 sounded incredible! Rekindled my love for my own GS112 before I did anything silly too. Eude
 16. I've found APC Overnight to be the cheapest and most honest/reliable in my experience. Had consistently rotten experiences with most of the "big boys", UPS, Parcel Force, TNT, DHL etc... personally and at my work too! Cheers, Eude

I'm a big fan of slab bodies. Spec'd that on both the Shukers I ordered. Love the all white idea too! It's gonna be a peach of a bass... Eude
 18. Looking good! Another Shuker P5... I'm having a bit of GAS for Precisions at the moment. Bet you're counting the days Eude
 19.
Sweet, you are more than likely on the same circuit as me then so I would guess we have reasonably similar sounding basses! However, the last thing I need is to be playing an expensive head I'll like too much I'm supposed to be moving into a new apartment in between xmas and new year!!! Dont spose you would happen to have any recordings of your bass through these cabs?
Hey man, sorry, not got any recordings Eude
 20.
They were switchable Dual Coils. I'm not slagging them off - they may be good pick ups but they didn't give me the sound I like with this particular bass.
I would've loved to have heard the comparison... I'd always rated Nordstrand highly, based purely on what I'd read or been told, but having heard how good this bass sounds, if I was looking for custom pickups or replacements, I'd be knocking on Wizard's door first (god I hope "Wizard's Door" isn't a euphemism for anything horrible, I'd best check the Viz Profanisaurus...) Cheers, Eude
 21.
If anyone wants a listen in Edinburgh i'm free on Sunday. My Matamp cab won't be here 'til Monday though. Its a 900W, 4 ohm one... should be loud enough.
Hey man, Can I drop you a PM over the weekend? Not sure what I'm up to yet, but would love to try your head out! I can bring along my Aguilar GS112 cab too. Cheers, Eude
 22. Hey Homer, glad you're still loving the Shuker. Having a go of this beautiful instrument was one of the highlights of the Moffat Bash for me (that and your loverly rig). It's just an incredibly articulate and full sounding bass, and seemed to get so much more out of the Shuker preamp too! You've got me thinking about maybe trying some Wizards in my own Shuker now!... Cheers, Eude
 23.
This is gooooooood I think theres a good chance I will be ordering should I find a way to visit Mr Homer or somewhere that stocks them! Eude, what circuit is in your bass?
It's the Shuker 3 band effort, 18V with internal gain and mid pot. It was his standard one from 2007, possibly the mk2 or mk3 version, I think. I know he's on to mk4 now though... I know you'll like the GS cabs mate, but best to try them first, to be safe. You'll fall in love with Homer's Aguilar head too by the way, it's incredible! Cheers, Eude
 24.
There was a time when Ashdown stuff used to look cool & well-built. Now it just looks.. cheap. IMO. Obviously.
I know what you mean, none of these amps have the class look of those old chrome fronted ABM amps they did a while back The BTA ones look quite "muckle" though Cheers, Eude
 25. I'm a huge fan of the GS112 cabs. I've just got the one and a LittleMark 250, the weedy cousin of the LittleMark, and I've used this combination, just like homer, for gigs of up to about 100 folks. Anything bigger, there's usually always a PA, so in that case I only use it for stage monitoring. To me the GS cabs are perfect, as it's been said before, light enough to carry in one hand but solid enough to have every confidence in them. There is a little bit of a mid scoop, which in my experience becomes more pronounced at volume, with one cab anyway, but you can make adjustments for that easy enough, and in my case, my bass is very very mid heavy anyway To my ear, they're quite an aggressive sounding cab, could be my bass and my ham-fisted playing though. The speaker handles everything I've thrown at it with my 6 string Shuker and it replicates everything very evenly across the whole range. The off axis response isn't too bad either, at least compared to a lot of other setups I've used. It's also great for a mobile/practice set up. All in, it's an amazing little cab. I had been itching to change recently, but I've thankfully fallen in love with it all over again before doing anything silly. It'll be the amp that'll be changing, and I'll be adding a second GS112... Can't recommend 'em enough matey Eude
