1.
There was a time when Ashdown stuff used to look cool & well-built. Now it just looks.. cheap. IMO. Obviously.
I know what you mean, none of these amps have the class look of those old chrome fronted ABM amps they did a while back The BTA ones look quite "muckle" though Cheers, Eude
 2. I'm a huge fan of the GS112 cabs. I've just got the one and a LittleMark 250, the weedy cousin of the LittleMark, and I've used this combination, just like homer, for gigs of up to about 100 folks. Anything bigger, there's usually always a PA, so in that case I only use it for stage monitoring. To me the GS cabs are perfect, as it's been said before, light enough to carry in one hand but solid enough to have every confidence in them. There is a little bit of a mid scoop, which in my experience becomes more pronounced at volume, with one cab anyway, but you can make adjustments for that easy enough, and in my case, my bass is very very mid heavy anyway To my ear, they're quite an aggressive sounding cab, could be my bass and my ham-fisted playing though. The speaker handles everything I've thrown at it with my 6 string Shuker and it replicates everything very evenly across the whole range. The off axis response isn't too bad either, at least compared to a lot of other setups I've used. It's also great for a mobile/practice set up. All in, it's an amazing little cab. I had been itching to change recently, but I've thankfully fallen in love with it all over again before doing anything silly. It'll be the amp that'll be changing, and I'll be adding a second GS112... Can't recommend 'em enough matey Eude
 3. Man I'd love one of those Little Bastards too! I've been keeping my eye out for a Trace Twin Valve for ages, but never found one at an "affordable price"... Wonder how much it'll cost? Might actually be a useful gigging amp for me as I'm using a 150W of Class D at the moment and from my, albeit limited, experience of all valve amps, 1W of valves is worth a truck load more than 1W of solid state power... I wonder if they're gonna do anything new or different with their cabs? They haven't really entered into the light(ish) single 12" cab market at all... I'll be watching this thread excitedly... Cheers, Eude
 4.
I think i've seen one for sale at live music on Wed, eude.
Cool, I need to get some strings at the weekend, so I might pop in and see if I can have a go Eude
 5.
Okay, BRIEF update from last night's rehearsal. By GOD it is loud! This thing is a total monster, and is really giving my cab something to think about. I could be heard comfortably at 1/10 on the master, active button ON (even though it's a passive bass) and gain at 12 o'clock. FAB. Cheers, James
This is sounding better and better mate, or should that be louder and louder... I think I'm going to have to make a move on one of these before Christmas! Cheers, Eude
 6.
I've reviewed mine in the reviews section. Loves it, I does.
Was a good review dude, much appreciated. Don't suppose you've used any MarkBass gear? Would like to know how it compares to the likes of a LittleMark... Eude
 7.
I am getting mines tomorrow, if dpd are early enough! I think i will be putting it through its paces with fellow BCers. Might conduct a review for y'all.
Can't wait to hear how you get on matey! If you want to try it through an Aguilar GS112 give me a shout. Cheers, Eude
 8. Hey dude, When I shipped my big ol' Trace Elliot Combo to basschat's very own Deep Thought, I couldn't find a suitable box either. I ended up making one round the cab itself. I bought some sheets of dense polystyrene, covered the cab in that first, with a fair bit of parcel tape to hold it together, then wrapped it up in sheets thick cardboard, sealed up with a bit more tape and it was good to go. I also, wanted to make sure the combo was easy enough to move around, so I left small gaps for access to the sprung loaded handles. Hope that's of some use matey Eude
 9.
I found the Pre-tube really hard to push on the 9, even when I followed the guidelines off talkbass and used an active hotter input bass. I got some grit, but not enough for me. On the other hand I've heard the tube tone on the rh450 works very well, and it's inherently warm anyway. All these micro heads are very clever, but I must admit some of them are too clinical for me. Then again I'm used to the insane sound my orange has so I think I'm always going to like the more rock orientated amps. The lm3 is pure brilliance and does warm/quick/precise really well.
Sorry to hear your experiences with the Shuttle ain't been that good... You should just wait for the 1000W version of the Terror Bass then matey! I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a 500W version, just waiting to hear how it compares to the LittleMark, assuming it does well, I'll be a proud owner of one very soon! Cheers, Eude
 10. Wow mate, I never thought I'd see you part with this beaut! Whatever's got your attention must be something real special! Good luck with the sale, I don't reckon this'll hang around very long though. Cheers, Eude
 11.
Jon turned 40 last week ... send him a card, he may even get back on your basses then
How's your latest project coming along Si?...
How does the payment work out with Jon? I'm guessing he won't need one lump sum, but you could pay him a few hunner a month?
In my experience, it was a 40% Deposit to start work with the remainder payable on completion. He's happy for you to pay up the remainder as you see fit, but I don't think he'll budge on the 40% before he starts work. Cheers, Eude
 12. Awesome review mate I'm real tempted to get one of these bad boys. Do you have any experience of MarkBass gear, would be nice to know how they compare... Also, how's the build quality? Cheers, Eude
 13. Quick heads up. Red Dog Music here in Edinburgh are doing this lil' amp fairly cheap too >> http://www.reddogmusic.co.uk/Basses-Amps-a...ass-Terror.html Any news on the amp Dave? Dying to hear what you make of it... Eude
 14.
I am waiting for GAK to get back to me, see if they're doing the offer still. So, all going well i could have one next week. I won't have a cab for it though, hence this proposition! I'm thinking of putting it atop a Barefaced Compact; which my significant other says she might fund a bit of for a christmas pressy!
Cool Well you're more than welcome to try it with my Aguilar GS112. Keep me posted on how you get on... Cheers, Eude
 15.
I fancy picking one of these up in the next week or so; if anyone is in Edinburgh and wants to check it out then it'd be cool.
That would rock mate! I'm really keen to replace my MarkBass head with one of these, but I'd love to try one out with my Aguilar cab first... Cheers, Eude
 16. +1 from me. Jeff's a real bass player's bass player. One of my big influences from when I was a youngster He's always pushed boundaries and innovated but not in an in a flashy your face manner, he manages to do all this while providing an incredibly solid foundation for Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam lost their way a bit in my opinion, but Jeff's playing has always made them fun to listen to regardless. Don't get me wrong though, I'm really enjoying the last couple of albums, they're writing some pretty awesome "dad" rock now, which is meant to be a compliment. Cheers, Eude
 17. Nice one Dave! I'm coming very close to shifting my LittleMark 250 to replace it with one of these. Can't wait to hear what you think of it! Even better that you'll be able to compare it to yer own MarkBass too Cheers dude, enjoy! Eude
 18.
Still trying to sort out finance but the good news is that they'll be stocking the RS112 shortly priced at £349.99.
That's awesome and terrible news my friend I might have to look into selling my lil' rig and investing in a TC Classic head and 2 of those 12" cabs now... What set up have you ended up plumping for?... Eude
 19.
My office is on the same street, I walk past the pub practically every day. I have seen they put gigs on quit regularly, good on them! Is it mostly jazzy/acoustic, or do they do rock stuff as well? I've also got a gig that night, but let me know if and when you play there again!
We'll be doing an acousticy set to be honest. Once played there with a full drum kit but it was a squeeze, so it's vocals, acoustic git, bass and cajon. We'll be doing one more gig in Dec hopefully so I'll let you know matey, but we'll be doing more gigs in Guilty Lilly for sure, it's top wee place. Have a good gig yourself too! Eude
 20.
Well, I have a gig at The Ark tomorrow night... should be one of our last in Edinburgh, which is nice We've got Henry's next month, but after that we're hitting the road and getting other stuff finished next year.
Good luck at the Ark mate! It's not a bad place to play if you get an OK crowd, just not very well run, they can't pour Guinness for toffee, but they at least have a good sound guy. My only experiences of playing there have been in a 5 band bum chain, so we just went on first, even though we where headlining (i got out voted) so the rest of the band could go home/get drunk. Have a good one! Eude
 21.
Guilty Lily's?
10 Points! Yeah playing there on Dec the 4th. I think it's free in, so if you're at a loose end, drop in and say hi, think we're on a bout 8:30. Cheers, Eude
 22. Bannermans can be awesome for some bands, but more often than not it's awful... I've played there with a band I was helping out for a while to all of 4 people. I also caught a friend's band, who make a living playing and recording in Canada play to 2 people, myself included - during the freakin' Festival!... Whistle Binkies is an interesting one, there's usually always a fairly reasonable and attentive crowd in there but they'd much rather hear Wonder Wall or Hotel California rather than anything original, and can be quite vocal about it. One for the "Ugly Juke Boxes"... My main problem with the whole thing in Edinburgh is that "promoters" don't seem to want to actually "promote" live music. They're quite happy to blanket email folks via MySpace to arrange for 14 mismatched bands to play on one stage but they then let go of the reins, expect the bands to arrange the sharing of backline, if necessary amoung, themselves and even worse, most of the time, expect the bands to sell tickets in order to try and earn at least some cash out of it and threaten to take them off the bill if they're not keen to do so. Has it always been like that? We used to arrange a monthly Friday night at "particular venue" but we gave up as they insisted on charging us for the use of the room and an absent sound engineer, even though they would make a fortune on the bar, which meant we had to charge at the door to avoid it leaving us out of pocket. We proved them wrong when we managed to convince them to let us have it for free for our Album Launch and the place was mobbed, partly because any passing trade could get in to check it out without being charged to get in. We where told by the duty manager that they had the best takings in that room ever on a Friday night that night and we foolishly assumed that we'd get the room for free from then on, but no, next month, right back to the same money grabbing arrangement. So we decided to can it. We tend to do wee acoustic shows these days in pubs that we know. We play to folks who know the music, sometimes get in new folks, have great fun and always get paid, which is a rare thing in Edinburgh, plus at our next one, we'll be quickly followed by a Burlesque show... Planning on arranging a on last decent sized (electric) "charity" gig before Chrimbo, but nothing concrete as yet. End of Rant (sorry) Eude
 23. Welcome dude! That IS a hell of a lot of basses! The guys are right, gigging in Edinburgh is pretty much A*S. Too many lazy promoters, greedy venues and 8 band bum chains. The best ones we've played in the last couple of years have been ones we've organised ourselves, which tend to be difficult thanks the to aforementioned greedy venues, or gigs outside of Edinburgh... Cheers, Eude
 24.
LOL! You beat me to it mate!! I'm all fuzzed out right now sorry so will accept your good luck wishes cheers!!
No bother mate If I manage to find the £40 soon, I'll take that AW3 back off you, but it'll be down to whether I can sell the Pickle Pie in time. I'll keep you posted. Eude
 25. Wow - I have a bad memory! Just occurred to me that I got my Pickle Pie off you and you got your AW3 off me! Small world... Well, if you want to swap back let me know dude, if not, good luck with yer sale Eude
