1. They've got one here, or so it seems anyway >> http://www.rockingrooster.co.uk/product_info.php?PID=364 Looks real nice in Black/Maple with a gold anodized Pickguard. Fender's lineup doesn't include the Precision Special Deluxe or the Active version anymore Some shops might still have stock though... Cheers, Eude
2. Man this thing is so cool! I'll be watching this one closely. No funds just now, but if it's still available when I do I'll be knocking at your door! Cheers, Eude
3.
Here is a quick video of me playing along to one Peds loops from "The Groove Library". SX Precision, totally stock (apart for the scratchplate) DI'd and with or EQ or nothing!
Nice one paul! That's a pretty decent sound from a very cheap bass, great playing too, not so sure about the dancing though... Reckon I'm going to have to get me one of those SX basses! Cheers, Eude
4. The seller doesn't seem to know much about these instruments, might go for a song, ahem, pardon the pun... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bass-6-String_W0QQit...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bass-6-String_W0QQit...1QQcmdZViewItem Over in Portugal unfortunately, but seems legit enough, no? Cheers, Eude
5. Was on the stock page for a while on Jon's website, in fact, it might still be, although I know it sold a while ago... Check it out >> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Shuker-4-String-Fret...1QQcmdZViewItem Cheers, Eude
6.
Do you find there's a discernable, but perhaps unquantifiable benefit in this scale length? Some people say it feels easier to play than a 34" scale length. What's your take on it? Big enough difference to warrant giving the luthier a bit of hassle?
It certainly makes a big difference for me. I play a 6 string bass and having a shorter distance to stretch in any direction really helps. Obviously going shorter would be even better, but it would start to compromise the low B response. That wouldn't be so much of an issue with a 4 string though. I reckon it'd definitely be worth having a chat to a luthier to get their take on it and an idea of the other work involved beyond just getting a neck made. If you're ever in Edinburgh you're more than welcome to have go of my Shuker to see what you think of the shorter scale length. Cheers, Eude
7. Hey Mark, My Shuker 6 string has a 33" scale. I really haven't experienced anything negative about going and inch shorter. I'm not the biggest of guys so the slightly shorter scale really makes things more comfortable. There's no loss of low end and the upper register, particularly on the higher strings seems a little bit sweeter in tone. One thing to consider though, is that adjusting the string's "speaking" length without changing anything else will effect the relative position of the pickups, if you see what I mean. It would be like shifting the pickups slightly closer to the neck. It won't be too drastic on a 33" scale, but any shorter might make a big difference to the sound from the pickups. Hope that's of some use, if you got any other questions just shoot. Cheers, Eude
8.
Hi there, I have this Tokai HardPuncher VSB 60 ltd. edition. It's born in 1982 I believe and the DiMarzio P pickup with white cover makes it very 80's looking too Z
Now that I do like! I never thought I'd pop into an "80's anything" thread and walk off with a semi! Gorgeous bass mate, very jealous! Eude
9. Hey Lowfer, I use a LittleMark 250 with an Aguilar GS112 and I absolutely love it! Not the loudest of combinations, but it's great for practice, rehearsal and stage monitoring. It's really lightweight, and assuming I don't have too far to go, I can carry my bass, the head in a laptop bag and the cabinet in one hand fairly easily. I plan to add another GS112 or maybe a GS112NT when I get hold of a bit of cash to get the most out of the head. Sound wise, it's pretty transparent, letting the bass shine through, but there's plenty of tweaking available using the EQ on the head. The tone is nice and even using this combination, but I do like a lot of low mids which I can dial in easy enough. Can't comment on the other stuff, I reckon any combination of what you're looking at would be great! Good luck, Eude
10. Don't think Musician's Friend post over the pond. You can try ebay though >> http://cgi.ebay.com/DR-Strings-Nickel-Lo-R...7QQcmdZViewItem I've bought from the US via ebay a few times and it's been no bother at all. Works out a hell of a lot cheaper than buying here in blighty! Cheers, Eude

custom bass?

Hey Ant, not sure what you ended up doing about this, but just thought you might want to see this >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_jtkb200_bk.htm Looks like Ibanez have been listening... Eude
12. I'm all about the neck (front) pickup! All I ever really use... Eude
13. Man, that's heart breaking! I think I'd sell my car before I sold my bass Eude
14.
And both basses have an unseated B string which must be more than a coincidence?
That's just because of the Warwick bridge design, you need to use a taper wound string to get it loaded into the bridge properly.
15. Nice work! Cracking looking spec, you're building up quite the collection... Oh and congrats on the new job. Cheers, Eude
16.
Hello mate. I`ll do my damndest to be there seeing as noone replies to anything if it`s NORTH
Excellent dude. Well give us a shout when you get in and I'll get you a pint. Cheers, Eude
17. Hey guys, just dropping another wee note to say my band will be playing again on the 20th of December. This time we'll be supported by singer/songwriter Gavin Taylor and by The Fusiliers, who'll be treating us to a semi-acoustic set. Same deal as before, £4 in, doors at 7:00 and I think we'll be on about 10:00. Maybe see some of you there... Cheers, Eude

You got PM!
19. Awesome looking spec dude. Jon does make a lovely Jazz Bass. Brewing up something similar myself at the moment... Looking forward to seeing this one develop, reckon the ebony head veneer is gonna be sweet! Cheers, Eude
20.
Wouldn't really be interested in it I'm afraid and I'd be wanting something like £60 plus your pedal for mine. Sorry
No bother bud, thought I'd drop it in just in case. Good luck with the sale. Cheers, Eude
21.
Bump on the Depth Charge, open to offers go on insult me
Hey bud, I've got an EHX Big Muff, the older battery only russian reissue I believe, like this >> I can get you a proper pic if you want. I've owned it from new, still got the box, barely seen much use and cosmetically it's in great nic. I think either the input or output jack might need a re-solder though, as it's been slightly temperamental recently. Would you be interested in this plus a bit of cash? Not sure what it's worth though... Cheers, Eude
22. Sounds good to me bud. Looking forward to seeing this baby come together... Cheers, Eude
23. Hey bud, just to let you know, I went for a 33" on my recent custom, as I have big hands with wee fingers, and it's been great! It's a 6 string and the low B on it is fine too! I reckon you could go to 32" for a 4 string without noticing too much of a difference in tension and tone. Shorter scale basses tend to sound a bit plummier, i.e. less defined on the lower notes but have a much sweeter sounding upper register, something like a nice Jazz Guitar... Reckon 32" would be the one to go for, however, probably a good idea to maybe try and find a 32" and give it a go before you start cutting into the walnut. On the one piece neck thing, I don't know much about construction of basses, but I'd maybe use some kind of reinforcement, graphite, or steel rods or something, just as a precautionary measure... Good luck! Eude
24. Holy Moly! I didn't realise Bacchaus did single cuts! Where'd you find that Ped, what does it cost? Eude
