  1. Thank you for the info dude, I look forward to hearing how it performs. I actually use 2 x 1x10s, but I was wondering if a more modern 2x8 would outperform that setup and speaker technology seems to move very quickly at the moment and my cabs are a few years old now... Cheers, Eude
  2. How capable is the 2x8? I've always been intrigued by little cabs like that. Currently using some older 1x10s but I wonder ifore modern 2x8s would do just as well of not better... Eude
  3. Yup, I've been saying this since the launch day! I appreciate some folks want big cabs for big stages, but if I'm completely honest I don't know many who actually do. Two high powered 1x12 cabs, that aren't crazy heavy is probably the safest bet for most folks I would expect. Laney have made light cabs in the past, fingers crossed they add something to the Digbeth lineup... Eude
  4. Very true, something actually unique to the player, unlike almost every other signature. Can't image they would sell many though. A lot of folks really dislike Limp Bizkit, but I think they're fun, they really do not take themselves seriously. I also really rate Borland's stuff he's done on his own, some of the Black Light Burns stuff is fantastic, and he's released some demos that never saw the light before for a band called Eat the Day, where he plays that weird 4 string bass guitar hybrid thing exclusively, along with another guitarist doing more regular guitar stuff. Worth checking out, and nothing like Limp Bizkit. Eude
  5. He's recently received a rather lovely PRS version of the concept >> https://www.instagram.com/p/CM3DAnuHURK/ "It’s a guitar/bass hybrid tuned F# F# B E or AADG, 80 42 32 22 ... it has guitar and bass pickups and 2 outputs. Scale length is 26.5"

    Joyo Badass

    That sounds rather good!
  7. Purely just for more flexibility, but I take your point. When a big cab weighs in at 15kg, there's very little point going for 2 smaller cabs I guess. Eude
  8. I personally would consider a more modular setup, maybe the GR head with 2 X 2x10s or 2 X 2x12s?

    ACG newborn

That is stunning! Congratulations dude! Eude
  10. Happy New Bass Day to me! OK, technically it was last week, but I'm pretty time poor at the moment. I am extremely lucky to have received my very own ACG Uber Finn 5 string. Specs as follows: Body Wood: Mahogany Top Wood: Katalox Veneer: Maple Neck Wood: 5 piece Flame Red Oak/Wenge Finger Board: 2 Tone Pau Ferro Scale: 31.5″ Finish: Satin Lacquer Pickups: ACG MC5 Hardware: ACG/Hipshot Bridge, Gotoh GB350 Resolite Tuners and Dunlop Straplocks Pre-amp: ACG DFM 5K/AP The bass is absolutely exquisite, perfectly balanced, not too heavy, not too light. The playability and sound, as with all ACGs are both incredible, but this one takes it up a notch with the MC Series pickups. These pickups are incredible, so articulate and precise, they really capture every nuance of your playing. Coupled with the DFM 5k, you have everything you need to sculpt your tone. I tend to run the neck pickup quite thick and bassy, and the bridge pickup a little more grindy/gnarly, which gives you a huge aggressive tone, which can easily be tamed by dialling back the passive tone control. There's a world of possibilities though. As with my other basses, it's a 31.5" scale, which is a scale length that kind of found me but feels so absolutely perfect. Special note for the TGI Gigbag that the bass shipped in, very simple, but well made and effective, I'm going to pickup a few more to replace some of my less padded bags. All in, I'm a very very lucky lad! Cheers, Eude
  11. Regardless of cost, I've heard the ergonomics of the bass just aren't very good. The whole scaling up the guitar design thing doesn't usually work all that well, and I think these Strandbergs are a classic example, made all the worse by the longer low strings. Given how much effort and thought has gone into the design of the guitars, I found their basses really disappointing, pretty lazy really. I only ever saw a handful of pros using them on social media, using all the right hashtags for a couple of months, and now they're gone, straight back to the instruments they used before. I don't doubt Strandberg could come up with something special for the bass world, but I think they're going to have to make more of an effort... Eude
  12. Thanks matey. I think having two sounds in one pedal, along with the DI would certainly be more useful. I may just have to bite the bullet.... Cheers, Eude
  13. Thanks for the info. Dare I ask how this would compare to a Sansamp BDDI V2? Asking for a friend... Cheers, Eude
  14. Absolutely stunning, congratulations! Eude
  15. The only disappointing thing there really is the weight of the cabs. Just don't understand why they didn't do a 1x12 cab, they have also confirmed there's no plans for one. In an amp that size and at that price point, I would've been surprised if it was anything but class D. As I think was pointed out before elsewhere, in most cases an emulated tube sound is better than just whacking a single tube into a preamp anyway. Cheers, Eude
  16. I think he was a pro player for a while but through a bout of ill health that aspect took a bit of a back seat. I agree though, his playing is incredible! Eude
  17. Me too, I really have no need for a new amps, and can't really afford one, and yet, I'm trying to figure out how I can get one.
  18. AC Guitars would make you a fantastic 30" fretless bass. Not quite the same as a Mouse but they'll do thick chambered bodies. They would always be my first recommendation. Shuker also so a bass similar to th the Rob Allen basses, not sure if they've ever done a 30" scale one though. Eude
  19. I would've thought a nice 1x12 would've been a sensible option, the 500W head and 2 1x12s would be a sensible, modular setup. I actually asked if anything like that was in the post, but no, not for a while at least, the range is cooked and done. Eude
  20. The issue is that manufacturers are happy to mislead us with their quoted wattage. The Class D Elf probably can put out about 200W, but only for milliseconds before the protection circuit kicks in to stop it melting. The proper old school Trace head will push out its quoted max volume and will be able to maintain it, for a whole gig, without overheating. There's been HUGE improvements in what Class D amps are capable of these days, and it will only get better, but if you want to keep up with 100W guitar amps, you need to be looking at the ones quoted as being 750/800/1000W. The mad thing is, a 300W old school solid state amp will easily keep up with the class D's quoted as being 2 if not 3 times as powerful. Eude
  21. Looks to me like there might be a combo(s) on the horizon too? A 1x10 combo plus the 1x10 can would be a nice compact, modular setup. Eude
