  1. Yup, and given the LWA1000 is a serious piece of kit, with a class A preamp designed by none other than Jonas Hellborg, and can now be had for the cost of the soon to be released 250w gnome. I know where my money would go! Eude
  2. Big Splits would certainly get you close. From what I've read, they're kinda like a P Bass and a Jazz had a BIG baby, if that makes sense? I think live, or in a mix, most would struggle to tell yh difference. The only obvious issue would be the aesthetic, if you wanted a PJ look. Eude
  3. Well I would absolutely give Aaron Armstrong a shout. He can wind the pickups to your specs too, or even just your sonic preference, and I expect he'll be cheaper than Aguilar and Nordstrand. Eude
  4. Are they more expensive than Nordstrand?
  5. There's obviously Nordstrand and Delano too.
  6. Don't forget Aaron Armstrong, he makes phenomenal pickups! http://www.armstrongpickups.co.uk/bass-pickups/ Eude
  7. Credit where credit's due my friend
  8. Ooooh, very very nice. Can't wait to see this one come to life! Mike does such awesome work. Eude
  9. VERY much so. There are other pedals out there too, but if you love the SansAmp tone, the addition of mids is really something else! Eude
  10. BOSS AW-3 Dynamic Wah pedal. Provides access to a wide range of classic auto-wah, dynamic wah effects, and "Humanizer" effect. Inputs for Guitar or Bass, and connection for an external control for manual control. Used, but in very good condition, bar some glue left on the underside by the previous owner's overzealous velcro use. Picture of this for clarity. There's no box, or instructions I'm afraid. Happy to post for £5 anywhere in UK mainland, I'll make sure it's very well packed. Cheers, Eude
  11. I never uploaded pics of my shorty. It's an ACG TKO Modern 4 string. 30.5" scale White Limba body with a Figured Maple top, stained black 3 piece Ash neck, with a reverse headstock, stained black Rosewood fingerboard Reverse Splitcoil pickup, with passive vol/tone Black Hipshot B Type bridge, Gotoh tuner Currently wearing TI Flats (not in the pictures though) Cheers, Eude
  12. Oh, and just for reference, I'm now using hex cores. I play 31.5" basses, so we came to hex cores as a compromise to ape the feel of a regular 105 (E) set on 34" but with the shorter scale, and slightly lighter gauges, 125/100/80/60/40/28 (for my 6 string basses). Neil is a magician, he'll be able to make you whatever you need Eude
  13. Hey mate, I have used Newtone strings for many years now, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I always favoured DR Sun Beams as my go to string, although I preferred the bite of the Nickel Lo Riders, sometimes. I moved over to Newtones and I haven't looked back, they feel quite like Sun Beams, perhaps a little higher in tension, but that is something you can discuss this with Neil, all the strings are custom hand wound and can be tweaked to your liking. Sound wise, I would say the Nickels have a little more bite than Sun Beams, but as with all strings, that can die back a little over time. Cheers, Eude
  14. Very nice mate, so you're looking at a quilted or flamed body, not just the top!? Awesome! I personally would be tempted with the P/P setup, it would be a more versatile setup, as much as the front pickup on a J/J setup can sound a bit P Bass-like, it's still not quite the same, yet a P/P setup, especially with the bridge P reversed can get you close enough to a J/J sound but with more balls. Eude
  15. I usually always prefer flamed maple, as mentioned above it's a little less flashy looking. Quilt can be incredible too though, especially with a tasty stained finish. As recommended, see what the luthier has and make your decision based on that, hard to do without seeing what your options are. Who's building, and what you getting? Eude
  16. That's a hell of a bass and real steal at that price! Good luck with the sale, I can't imagine this will hang around. Eude
  17. Yup, I don't think I've ever seen anyone else refer to them as a Bitsa Builder. OP's problems aside, Maruszczyk do build proper custom jobs, I don't think for a second they have lots of different standard bodies and neck kicking about, maybe a few, but if you look at the myriad of options that you see on each and every bass, it wouldn't make sense to do that.
  18. That is absolutely stunning @binky_bass, congratulations! I'll bet 12 days in transit was a bit of squeaky bum time, great to see it arrive in one piece. That is one amazing guitar. Eude
  19. I'm hoping to do some recording soon, so you can hear for yourself, I'll share a link on here when I'm done. On a personal experience note, I've not played any basses that have been great on the B string above the 12th fret, it could well be my technique of course 😉 Eude
  20. That is stunning! Congratulations! Eude
  21. I agree the build quality seems crap, but I have found mine to be very useful. Seeing that there are so many copies on the market, surely somebody, somewhere can do a knock off and make it high quality? Metal body, good quality electronics, USB recharge etcs. If I had the time, inclination, and a bit of money I'd do it myself! Be interested to hear what you think of the Donner one. Eude
