Massive shout out for ACG here. I've owned and played several Shukers and I've also played several Sei's and the ACGs just have something more to them. The Shuker and Sei basses were lovely instruments, don't get me wrong, but having played ACG basses, there's just something missing, if that makes sense? If you're dead against ACG and it's head to head between Shuker and Sei for something a bit more traditional, I'd go with Jon Shuker however, he does make lovely versions of the more Fenderish stuff. Sorry dude, I'm afraid I've chickened out for now. It's a lot of cash for a gamble, I want to hear some real world feedback from bass players before I pull the trigger, I'm not in any desperate hurry really. GAS took me to the edge, but I've managed to come back for now. Eude

Yup, I think they've aimed a little too high there. They've apparently got a GE150 coming too with the same engine and less buttons like the Ampero, wonder where that will sit price wise? Eude

I guess it's affordable by comparison, the full on custom Foderas where near $12,000 as far as I remember. I can accept they're cheaper, but still out of reach for most folks, and seriously niche too. I certainly wouldn't put my money down for one, but fair play to Janek for at least trying to make these things more accessible, whether he's achieved that I guess will pan out over time. Eude

Does anyone have any idea of the price point on these "affordable" versions? To get a bass like Henrik Linder, you'd need to cough up nearly $10,000! They do seem to be talking about two levels of these signature basses now, but I've never seen any commitment to pricing anywhere... Eude

I think the B-Social may have merged into the Meters brand possibly? They have a few B-Social-esque bluetooth speakers on the go, so perhaps that's the daddy, or grandaddy? Eude

Ha ha, who knows. Lee's ill, and I guess there's SO much to cover they're just doing what they can. NAMMthrax claims many a victim every year, but not usually till the flight home, sadly though at the end of the day, the people this will reflect badly on the most is the manufacturers in these vids. Eude

To be fair, that guy standing in for Lee at Andertons definitely isn't the guy for the job. There's a video of him speaking to MarkBass about the new Bona basses and asks if the whole bass is made of Swamp Ash and goes on about how Swamp Ash can be heavy, if you're not a detail guy or an interview guy, you shouldn't be doing the interviews...

Just for info, the Mooer GE300 is going to be roughly £699 according to the Andertons guys >> That only make's it £50 shy of a proper Helix LT, right? Coming in April 2019. If I worked in sales at Line6, I'd be dropping the price of the Helix LT by £75 just before this came out... Eude

There's a review of the Prog model up on BassTheWorld.com's YouTube channel >> If I'm honest, the bass sounds a little muddy tone wise to me expect when it's all DarkGlassie on the first section and during the tapping example, I guess I expected a much brighter sound from such a modern looking bass? It might be the BigRig pickups, I have heard a few folks find them a little muffled but they are meant to be a hum cancelling homage to the 51P... Eude

Oh, dear. I'll be using it at home almost exclusively, maybe for a bit of recording too. I also do have a couple of guitars, so having something guitar friendly would probably be useful. I'm swinging back to the Ampero again, I was hoping Zoom would've come along with something a little like that at NAMM but they only revised their lower end offerings... Confused... Eude

Not a bad price for a custom bass in the long run. I'd thoroughly recommend going for a shorter scale too, I play 31.5" now and I LOVE it!

That's the kind of issue I was worried about, what with the Ampero being design for guitar first, and the B3n being all about that bass, if you'll pardon the pun. Sound quality wise, do you find that the B3n is good enough?

Yup. I'm basically looking for a some decent effects for occasional use. A few reasonable amp and cab sims Distortion - good drive through to all out dirt Octaver Chorus Reverb AutoWah, although the ability to have regular Wah with an expression pedal is very desirable A Whammy type effect with an expression pedal would rock Aux in - Headphone out A DI would be nice but not a deal breaker I'm not massive concerned about insanely crystal clear reproductions of exisiting pedals, it just needs to work well with active bass and not be too fiddly. My main concerns with the Ampero is the price compared to the B3n, I could pick up a new B3n and an expression for less than 50% of the cost, and the fact that the Ampero is designed with Guitarists in mind first, with a smattering of bass specific content, is this similar to the Helix? I'm only really going to be using this for home use for a while, but I know from previous experience, Zoom stuff is extremely hard to kill even when gigged a lot... Eude

It does a bit, and they've really gone all out with great product design too. That Downtown thing needs a headphone jack and an aux in though 😉 Eude
