Yup, I’ve got another ACG in the making! My first ACG, the one that got away, I still miss, a lot. This one... Now I’m older with more experience of what I want/need in an instrument, as much as I miss it, it wouldn’t get played as much as it deserves. Over the years, I’ve figured out that I prefer a 6 string over a 5, that I’m not that keen on the sound of Swamp Ash, and that I love 31.5” scale! So, I’ve ordered a bass from ACG that pays homage to my first ACG, but updated to what I want from a bass now. So here’s the spec ACG Finn SC Classic 6 string 31.5” scale tuned B to C Black Limba Body 3 piece Wenge Neck with Wenge headstock front and back plates Pau Ferro Fingerboard (thinking about adding in black dot inlays here, or maybe single black block at the 12th fret, although I might just buy one of those realistic stick on ones from Jockomo) Bolt-on construction ACG RFB Pickup in 50mm in MM location with coil switching East Uni-pre preamp Black hardware including Hipshot B type bridge and Gotoh Resolite tuners And that’s it, nice and simple, bit of a work horse for me, plus the pickup location and wood combination will offer a very different voice to my other 6 string. It’s no secret I’m a massive fan of ACG basses, having played nothing but for several years now, and I can’t think of a situation where that would ever change now. Being of smaller stature, I was so happy to discover 33” scale basses many moons ago, however fast forward a few years, and I’m now the extremely happy owner of a 31.5” scale ACG Salace SC E Type Headless 6. Plenty of folks out there would immediately discount a short(er) scale 6 string bass, or assume that it didn’t have a low B string, but mine does and it sounds brilliant! Check it out! As far as I know, there aren't any production 6 strings out there with a 32" scale, never mind 16.5m spacing. I would absolutely check out ACG if I were you, potentially a little more expensive than a Marusczyk, but that's down to your spec. I've got a 31.5" 6 string with 16.5mm spacing and a fretless one on the way very soon, you're more than welcome to come check them out, the fretless should hopefully land in about a month...
