JFDI; easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. In evidence I can confirm that I'm still breathing, although now walking with a severe limp.
Ha ha! I once had "Señor Designer" printed on my work business cards, rather than "Senior Designer", my boss checked them and OK'd the print job. I got away with it too for about 3 months! Eude
I've played this and it sounded supreme!! Si
Thanks buddy!
For what it is worth I really liked that one.
Yup, sad to see it go, but the rules must be respected Eude
That is another beauty from Alan. Do you have any sound samples? Keen to hear how the short scale sounds.
I recorded some a while back, but I can't find them, if I can't lay my hands on them I'll do some more. Patience Daniel Son, Focus Power... Eude
Lovely. Could you explain the knobs and eq bit more please. Is it an East 3-band SPM-01 modular setup with internal freq selection? Does it have a pickup balance control or is it just a selector switch? What are the 4 pickup selector settings? Thanks

Sorry, just seen on the ACG website that the preamp is a P-Retro. The 4-way switch is presumably bridge / neck / series / parallel?
Yup, you've pretty much answered your own question here. It's a P-Retro, but it's tweaked a little to ACG's spec. The first stack is Volume/Tone, with a pull pot for bass boost (which you can set internally). Second stack is a very clever cut/boost control on top, with a frequency selector which allows you to select bass and treble, or mid frequencies, this also has a pull pot for treble boost (again settings can be altered internally). Third control is a 4 way selector - Neck, Neck and Bridge in Series (Ballsy as all hell), Neck and Bridge in Parallel (Articulate), and Bridge. Fourth control is a 2 way rotary switch to select active/passive. In passive mode you can still use the tone control. Cheers, Eude

SOLD. It's with a heavy heart that I'm putting my ACG Recurve 4 string up for sale. I have a baby on the way in July and a new ACG 6 string fretless following afterwards, so the one in - one out policy is going to have to be respected more so than ever, for basses at least! Here's the bass on Alan's site >> http://archive.acgui...-4-short-scale/ The bass is a nice mix of ACG's modern, considered design and fancy wood specs, with a more traditional yet extremely flexible electronics set up. It has a 31.5" scale, which makes for an extremely playable and comfortable instrument without any shortcomings whatsoever. I've had plenty 33" basses with amazing B strings, better than some 35" and 36" basses I tried a while back. I also have a 31.5" 6 string, and it works just fine too! Like the OP, I think it's more to do with the neck and construction. Not trying to sound snobby, but a modern, high end, hand made bass can pretty much achieve anything you would want within reason. I've also found that pickup location can make a difference too, popping the pickup somewhere that can naturally produce more mids, especially low mids will really help with your low B too. Cheers, Eude
Indeed it is. 14kg of low frequency goodness. God knows how they manage to get a 15" speaker into such a small enclosure.
Nice one dude. That cab is very much on 'my list'... Eude
Another advocate for TKS here, although mine is a 1x15. It's the size and weight of a 1x12 with the kick and presence of a 4x10. In fact, when it arrived I thought I had been sent the wrong cab because it is so compact. The great thing about this cab is the dispersion of sound, even if you are standing very close.
Which model do you have, is it the new H115? Cheers, Eude
shows what i know
I'm sure you know plenty of other useful stuff, unlike myself, that's pretty much all I've got Eude
That's the newer version - it's quite a different beast to the original, unfortunately.
Yup, it's the P5110 you want, otherwise don't bother. Eude
Once again I find myself scratching my head as to why Ibanez discontinued the Promethean. Such a versatile thing.
If I could find one in good condition, I'd be on it like a nun sandwich! I miss mine, a lot. The original Promethean 1x10 combo held its own against pro combos worth 4 times as much by all accounts. I too have no idea why they stopped making it. So very silly... Eude
Ah i thought the mibass was actually a combo? Not a 'attach the head to the cabinet and call it a combo' type setup? I've already got a microhead so i could just pick up 2 1x10 cabs, but for tidyness around the house, i really wanted a combo. The combo would live in my studio (ie corner of my bedroom) and the ext cab would live hidden away for when i have a gig.
Ah, fair enough then dude. There was also a MiBass combo, they do pop up on here second hand now and again, the cabs are a little more scarce though, especially the 8 ohm ones. The new Genzler setup mentioned above is going to be awesome though if you've got the cash. Best of luck finding something that fits. Cheers, Eude
-
Yup, I think the MiBass is likely your best option. I've got a MiBass 2.0 and two Mi10 cabs, I might consider moving them on further down the line if you're interested, how much of a hurry are you in? Eude
You are correct, sir, it is 33" scale.
Laaaavly! Congrats mate, we'll need a family portrait of course... Eude
And it has landed, a day early NBD thread here http://basschat.co.u...zczyk-elwood-l/ But here's a body shot to whet your appetite...
Is this a 33"er too, ike your custom fretless, or am I mistaken?
