I prefer the sound yeah, I do like the 15" on its own for more relaxed gigs. The tweeter helps keep the sound balanced.
Thanks for the info mate Was thinking about the 12" cab, but I think the added whoomph from the 15" might be a good idea.

Is the sound an improvement on the Mi12s too?
I've got the 2x10" and 1x15". I'm smitten.
How's the 1x15 as a standalone cab? Oh, and how manageable is it, size and weight wise? I'm thinking about changing my set up from two of those little Mi10 cabs you see, one single cab, and a big full sound is what I'm hoping for, but in not too large a package...

I've not tried them, but given how good the Rootmaster amps are, I can't imagine they're not good.
If the 'technology wasn't up to date' quote holds water, it's amazing as the core Fender business is based on around ten guitars, the designs of which are now 55-60 years old AND they're also producing instruments that look this age as part of their range.
Yeah it's a weird one, Fender have never really managed to make a success of their bass amps, even though they do make nice guitar amps. Like you mentioned on the guitar front, their successful guitar amps are based on old old designs. Bass amps continue to evolve and bassists continue to try new things, whereas guitarists, well most of them, don't seem all that bothered. To be fair to Fender, they have actually made some pretty decent bass amps along the way, particularly this era of kit >> http://www.zzounds.com/item--FEN2345100010 I have a feeling this stuff was just before, or quite possibly just after they bought SWR. Their latest Rumble stuff by most accounts is pretty bloody good too, but for some reason they just don't seem to be able to shift many units... Regardless, I'd love to see a resurgence of SWR, if it might ever be possible. I never got to play through much of their gear, just a Redhead 2x10 Combo in a studio, but I have fond memories of watching a band regularly in Glasgow where the bassist had an SWR Baby Bly 2x8 combo and matching extension cab and it sounded lovely! I also caught a band where the bassist had a Henry the 8x8 cab and wo momma it sounded huge! Sad to see good brands get swallowed up and spat out Eude
One of my bands did a live session. There's bits of low B all over but particularly at 1:30 onwards. https://youtu.be/6WGWKcTD_CM Better late than never!
Sounds great mate, thank you for sharing! Eude

Yup, Fender bought them to bolster their own range of bass amps, but SWR were lagging behind the curve at that point, so although they made great amps, the technology wasn't up to date enough. They absorbed all the tech and ended up shutting SWR down. They've done exactly the same with Genz Benz too, although they bought them at a much better time and have benefitted from the acquisition. Sad though, I agree with CamdenRob, I always lusted after SWR as a kid too... Cheers, Eude

Thanks mate, I'm quite interested in this one, assuming it's got one of the newer Class D power sections that is. I tried Merton's Rootmaster 800 a couple of weeks ago and the updated power sections sound SO much better... Eude

Colour me interested (pending approval ) I can bring a few ACG basses, currently 2 x 33" 5 strings (one fretless and currently for sale ), 1 x 31.5" headless 6 string and 1 x 31.5 4 string. Cheers, Eude -
Gorgeous. Is it just me, but has Jon really sped up his progress these days? He built my first custom 6 years back in a matter of weeks, then things slowed a bit, looks like he's back on track Eude
Ditto. If I had any talent or maybe just the cash I probably would have had this before any of you chaps had a chance to even see it. But alas I have neither and that means this fantastic bass is going begging for an incredible price. Someone must be interested surely?

Can't believe this is still here. If only I could buy some talent to go with it
It doesn't require talent to 'own' a fretless!

Brilliant strings and they will custom wind to your needs too. I have a couple of short scale ACG basses, one of them being a 6 string tuned B to C. There's obviously some luthier voodoo in there to make it work, but the Newtone strings definitely play a big part. Besides this, they also sound and feel really really nice too. Highly recommended! I also hope they start making Flatwounds soon... Eude

Great demo again WoT. The amp sounds a lot more HiFi to my ear compared to the first HandBox amp, equally nice though, just different. I'd be keen to see/hear the Dual Channel Class D amp they've got coming too, although I am starting to think that I'm not going to be happy with anything bar solid state these days... As far as your demos go, I agree, it's so much better to hear something familiar and repetitive to get a real feel for how something sounds and how it compares to others. There's nothing worse than a demo for an amp where the player just shows off making it impossible to actually figure out how the gear in question actual sounds in real life. Keep it up man, don't let the haters get you down Cheers, Ewan
The Reiver. Was torn between that and the TKO as I've never had a tele but the Reiver just jumped out at me. I keep looking at that thread and willing the month to end so I can get paid and get my hands on it!
The Reiver shape is wonderful, the ever so slightly reverse offset makes it extremely comfortable to play seated or standing. You're going to love it! Eude
Already paid the deposit on one Very excited to be joining the ACG family.
Excellent, which one did you go for?...
Not sure if anyone who's been thinking about an AGC has seen this thread here:- http://basschat.co.u...86-guitar-sale/
Yup, if you want a custom made high end guitar at a very good price, I thoroughly recommend giving Alan a call! I would if I didn't have two already Eude
I do not currently but I'll throw some together in my free time this week. I think Tim put standard DRs on it, not sure exactly what type but they're rounds. The low B is D'Addario.
That's extremely kind of you mate, look forward to hearing/seeing it and thanks for the info on your strings too Eude
