1. I don't notice any fans noise on mine either, I have quite a bit of 60 cycle hum, but the electrics in my house were literally done by a chimp.
  2. Gorgeous bass mate, congratulations! Classy, understated, yet absolutely stunning. Eude
  3.
Thanks ead, I think I've bothered Eude on that subject previously and he was very helpful.
Happy to help mate, if you've any other questions, you know where I am
Doable I would think. Not done one for a while personally I prefer the sound of mags.
I completely agree, if you're trying to get a more upright kinda sound, you can do a lot with 2 mag pickups and clever use of the filter preamp on an ACG, never mind string choice. Eude
  4.
Thanks Eude I have ordered a MiBass 1x10 rig from Andertons (the warranty and Ashdown customer service helped swing it!). I plan to see how I get on with the 1x10 & add either another 10 or a 12 later. So Bonzodog or anyone else if you try the 12 & 10 together can you report. Thanks all B
Nice one mate, great news Probably not much help, but you can see that setup in this video >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLDE84DpNAY Eude
  5. In my experience, 2 X 1x12s would kick the arse off most average 4x10s, obviously, just my own experience of course. Best of luck with it mate
  6.
As per another thread i did the other day i am now seriously considering these Mi cabs for my new rig. I will be powering them with a hartke lh500 but not sure whether to go for 2 x 112 cabs or mix it up with a 110 and a 112
The Mi12s will give you a fair bit more oomph, but will take up more space and be more of a pain to move. They're not exactly huge and they're not that heavy, but they're not the smallest 1x12s out there. The Mi10s punch well above their weight, but if you need a lot of stage volume, I'd probably go for 12s. Your idea of one of each might be the best compromise however. I've not been much help have I... Eude
  7.
Hi Eude -- Your sig says you use 2 10inch MiBass cabs, but on the Ashdown website they are listed as 4ohm each! are they really 8ohm? Thanks Brendan
Originally the Mi10s were 4 Ohm, but I don't think they sold that many of them in that guise, most people looking for a light modular setup would've liked two 8 Ohm versions, so I guess they listened customer suggestions, including my own, and changed the spec. I think they only make 8 Ohm ones now, there may be some 4 Ohm ones still in shops, but they're not making them anymore. Eude
  8. Man alive I love this bass. If I needed another ACG 6 string, I'd be after this one, it's an absolute beauty and an amazing price! The 33" scale and 52mm nut match the spec on my ACG Finn SC 6 string perfectly and make for an incredibly easy playing bass. Best of luck with the sale mate Eude
  9.
Thanks, I think from an earlier trawl that Doddy has the earlier MiBass with the semi parametric eq, since I use very little eq this shouldn't be a downer for my use.
Yup, the older models had a similar parametric EQ to the ABM range, the 2.0 has a nice simple Gain/Bass/Mid/Treble/Volume setup, much nicer
  10. I've got a little MiBass 2.0 and from what I can tell it's a pretty transparent sound, quite hifi sounding, but you can dial in grit if you want. There's amps out there with more powerful EQ etc, but it ticks all the boxes I need and from what you say, it'll do the same for you. I haven't tried mine live I'm afraid, but I think it'll keep up assuming you use a 4 ohm load to get the full juice out of it. From all the Class D's out there, not many come with a 5 year warranty and very response customer service, I'd go for it if I was you mate Eude

    Very cool mate! Great work!

    Fearful 15/6

Nice work pal, looking forward to seeing the finished cab!
  13. Seems Beta Aivin, who I think built the original Prometheans for Ibanez, then built cheaper versions based on it for Harley Benton and RedSub are still making these clones. Not sure how you can get one in the UK however... http://www.beta-aivin.com/English/Products/Bass/BT/English_204.html http://www.beta-aivin.com/English/Products/Bass/BT/English_205.html If these are as good as the RedSub that I tried, you'll be laughing! Eude
  14.
Redsubs are on ebay now at £330 ish
Where abouts? I can't find them, any chance of a link?
  15.
You might also want to consider the Ibanez P3110 or P5110 which fit your budget (Thomann). I don't have any experience of these, hopefully someone can chip in.
I haven't used the P3110, although I have heard it's not as good as the original P5110. I had a P5110 for a few years, gigging it VERY successfully in the exact kind of band situation you need your amp for. It's probably more effective than the MiBass with a single 1x10, or the MiBass combo, but I moved it on as I like my rig to match and I couldn't find the proper Promethean 1x10 extension cab to match, silly I know. If you can get a P5110 then go for it though, it's amazing, it truly is. God only knows why Ibanez stopped making them. The replacement is good, assuming you get a good one, there have been some serious quality issues, but from what I've read it's not close enough, which is a shame. The RedSub copies of the P5110 are very impressive, especially considering the original price, just a little more bulky, and aesthetically not as nice, but again, if you can get a good one, it'll tick all your boxes. Problem with both the Ibanez and RedSub is that you'll need to find a good secondhand one, and folks tend to keep hold of them... My vote would still be for the Ashdown, purely as it would give you more power for when you need it and a 5 year warranty. Eude
  16.
Thanks @eude - that's pretty sound advice really. I know that you can connect the TC208 to an external cab, but I'm guessing that by doing that it disables the internal 2x8s... I think I need to find a few hours to go and have a play around.
No bother mate, that's what the forum is for! Keep us all posted on how you get on.
  17.
Hmm - cheers for the pointers so far chaps. I did actually have a look at the Ashdown MiBass in Andertons but forgot all about it. That might just be the ideal solution, it was pretty portable! I'm still curious about the little TC250-208 though - it's cheap and tiny... which would suggest it might also be a bit naff, but you never know.
I've heard mixed reviews of the 208 Combo, reliability has been and issue with them, but if you look hard enough you can find negative opinions on pretty much everything out there. The early batches of the MiBass 2.0 gear had a bit of a fault, which was easily fixed, but I've been very happy with mine. I think the MiBass would give you the option to expand your rig, if you go for the combo, or the head and cab, you could add another matching cab and get the full output from the head which would give you more than enough power for most occasions. IMHO, a MiBass setup will give you a lot more for your money than a standalone combo like the TC 208. Ultimately though, if you've got a chance to try the gear out, then go do that before you pull the trigger. Hope that helps dude, Eude
  18.
Not a combo, but amp in gig bag pocket & easy carry cab = http://ashdownmusic....ation/5/MiBass/
Very good shout... All in one combo >> http://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-combos/pid24235/cid687/ashdown-mibass-20-400w-compact-bass-combo.asp Or as separates >> http://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-amp-heads/pid32808/cid685/ashdown-mibass-640w-head-with-mi10-cab-bundle.asp A little over your budget, but worth it, as you'll get a 5 year warranty. I've got the head and two Mi10 cabs and I'm very happy with the set up, modular, small footprint and easy to move about and store. Eude
  19. Well that turned out nice! Congratulations matey, and very glad you're liking the 33" scale length, it's definitely the way forward I really like what you've ended up going with for the bridge pickup too, I too don't like bridge pickup tones all that much, apart from on a fretless, so that seems to be the best solution. The GAS is back and I've got a new ACG being built at the moment! Eude
  20. Awesome, love these shortscale basses, looking forward to more pictures!
  21.
Discreet. Sorry - not quite sure what you mean by; "Those [Purple Chilis] are very exclusive though..."
The Finnbass thread you linked to talks of an exclusive offer for a the first lot, but as you'll know having spoken to Mike, they all flew out the door and have worked out so well that he's going to continue to offer the design for sale as part of his standard range. I much prefer the vertical orientated design and when I can afford it I'll be selling my Mi10s and getting two of Mike's 1x12s for sure! Eude
  22.
Yes - I remember playing through your Zoots and wanting to buy one off you! Mike is saying that a 112 cab with those drivers comes out at almost 13 Kgs. I'd maybe prefer something a bit lighter and less wattage for rehearsals, and have a pair for gigs. Getting picky now... Steve
That's not that heavy mate, my tiny little Mi10's are a notch over 10kg and an Aguilar GS112 is 19kg! 13kg should be an easy one hand lift, assuming you're not walking miles with it...
