Such a shame you're forced into this position mate.
This bass truly is a work of art, the sound of the thing is amazing and it's surprisingly playable and fairly lightweight considering the size of it.
As mentioned above, the build is as good as it gets, a true masterpiece.
Good luck with the sale, whoever gets their hands on this is in for a real treat

Four strings are quite sufficient for me unless I'm playing my 5-string air bass, but that can be a bit tricky due to the added complexity
Cool, that will be a lovely bass, Alan makes some incredible instruments, as you know.
Got a real soft spot for a bit of Wenge myself
I've got 4, 5 and 6 string ACGs, but I'm best at on my air 3 string bass

Can't help with the ad, but can verify that Ashdown's email inbox is the online equivalent to a black hole.
Contact them on Facebook, they're usually pretty prompt to reply on there.
If you're not on there, shoot me a PM and I'll give you a direct email address.

Also, spot paying so much for them!
I buy strings here, usually >> http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bassspecialties
Much cheaper than the usual unacceptable UK rip off prices, even including international shipping...
Eude
Wow, that was mine many moons ago! Think it would've been the late 90's...
I bought it new and it was indeed a prototype, Bassix came up with some "foldable" uprights and one of the models was Flying Vee shaped, I believe this was made to make sure it would work.
It will indeed take 34" scale strings.
Oh, and I used to call it "Tinky Winky", just for your info...
Good luck with the sale!

Pictures are borrowed from me, that's @ my studio....

Yup, I don't know where these rumours about me owning a broad neck Thumb Bass have come from.
I used to own a regular one though...
Good luck with sale regardless

You're right, it is - doh! Changing that now... Thanks!

No bother dude, it's rare for me to be so eagle-eyed...

Just for clarification, there is no longer a neo surcharge on our cabs - the neo price is still high but relatively stable so when we revised our prices we removed the variable surcharge.
Good stuff dude, I think it's still mentioned on your site on the ordering and availability page...

I don't struggle for volume with an amp rated at 140 watts, so the Ashdown could still be a perfectly viable gigging amp.
Yup, I can appreciate why some folks want lots of wattage, but for your average non pro player it really is not necessary...

Plenty more details there, and the gain control offers 'tube emultated overdrive' according to the manual.
On the subject of the manual, it's got bleeding graphs in the back! First time I've seen that for a bass amp.
Thanks dude, will give that a once over on the train home :-)

Thread revival, but now that NAMM's been and gone, has anyone found out anything more about this? Doesn't appear to be on their website yet.
A bloke over on TalkBass said that it's only a Prototype but might be released later this year.
My attention is turning to the MiBass 2.0 head now, the Youtube video for it eluded that there's a distortion curcuit built into the gain structure so you can actually dial some proper distortion out of it without getting the harsh solidstate/digital clipping you usually get in on there kinds of amps when you push them too hard.
Think my Promethean will be up for sale soon...
Agreed. That would be an interesting A/B test!
Yup indeed it would, but I think the S12T vs the EAD Foundation 212 is still a valid one, especially seeing as the lows seem to be the most pronounced difference when it comes to the sound. I do love the look of the vertically aligned 2x12 retro thing the BF has going on, but if I was gigging reguarly, the my money would go on an EAD. I am a little biased though, as I already have one of the 1x12 prototypes
Eude
The S12 is missing some of the major components that make the EAD Foundation 212 what it is, the mid range driver, tweeter and the crossover, it's just a simple 2x12 cab which is why it's only £760, plus that's without the cheeky Neo surcharge.
To be fair, the Big Twin T is much more along the same lines to the EAD Foundation 212.
The Big Twin T is £1050 + the Neo surcharge of £40 per speaker = £1170 which is very much in the same ballpark as the EAD at £1250.
