  1. Thanks. I was sad when you came a took it away. I was really enjoying playing it.
  2. Looks a bit like a stentor. I had a carved stentor once and it was great.
  3. No worries. Congratulations on your new bass. 😄 If you ever need repairs or setup, give me a shout.
  4. Hi. Over the years I’ve restored and sold a fair few old German basses 1800-1920ish they’re always really nice and around £5k. I have one as my main gigging bass at the moment and two very similar in the workshop nearing completion. DM me if you’d like to talk and come and try. I’m in Bath.
  5. sold. Stentor Profundo 3/4 bass. The Profundo I believe is Stentor's top line double bass, with a spruce top, Flamed maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. This bass has received a new neck of highly flamed maple and has much nicer general proportions than the original neck, with a 105 cm string length and slimmer profile. The bass is in great structural condition with just the usual scuffs and dings that you would expect from a well used bass. No splits or cracks. It has a new setup with new spirocore light strings and adjustable bridge. It plays and sounds great. Would make a great jazz bass or a great bass for an orchestral student. £1700.
  6. Sold. Price drop £4900. A modern Hungarian instrument circa 2000, in the pattern of Gasparo Da Salo. In excellent playing condition with no damage or repairs. New bridge and set up. Beautifully flamed maple back, ribs and neck and a tight grained spruce front. A big powerful sound. Currently strung with a new set of Pirastro Flexocore Deluxe. String length 105 cm. Based in Bath UK. Certification: Written appraisal by Martin Penning valued at £7000.
  7. What a great solo! The band are loving it. Phillip Norris is a really fantastic player.
  8. German flat back C1880. Recently received full restoration (2020). Including new finger board, neck, top and bottom blocks, bass bar, bridge with quality adjusters, brass and ebony endpin unit, baker style tuners. All cracks professionally repaired. Currently strung with Pirastro Evah pirazzi. This is a big bass with a powerful sound to match. A real pleasure to play. String length 105cm Length of back 113.5 Upper bout 54cm Lower bout 71 cm Rib depth 21.5 cm Based in Bath
  9. Thanks! Yeah, great little amps. I mainly used it for double bass, but on occasions I used it for pub bluesy gigs on electric bass and it always kept pace with the band without needing the PA.
  10. This is a carved 3/4 size Romanian double bass from the 1980s. It’s pretty much exactly the same as an Andreas Zeller, most probably the same factory and makers. Carved spruce top and maple back and sides, ebony finger board. vibrating string length 105cm Currently strung with Pirastro flexocore. In good condition and has been fully checked over. A decent bass and ready to go. Comes with soft case too. Would be great for a beginner or serious student.
  11. SR electric (Schertler) Jam 250. In good condition. Here’s a link to the manufacturer specs. https://www.sr-technology.it/en/active-loudspeakers/47-jam-250-extension.html I’m happy to pack for shipping if the buyer wants to organise a courier.
  12. SOLD This is a well used amp that has done me proud for many years. I’ve just had it serviced and it is all working. There are plenty of signs of wear but only cosmetic. These are great little amps for double bass/ bass guitar, gigging or just as a home practice amp. It comes with a Rockbag soft case that is very worn with a few rips and zip not working but is still useful as a carry case. I’m happy to pack for shipping if the buyer wants to organise a courier.
  13. Ha! Those blooming bassoons. Good luck with it. I’m sureTim Bachelor will make her sing.
  14. I don’t know where this bass is but I’m in Bath, and have fully restored many basses similar to this. If you’re nearby I’d be happy to take a look for you. It sounds like it could be a pretty straightforward fix up.
  15. That’s nice old German bass and would be well worth repairing properly. I’m pretty sure plenty of people would gladly offer you £1200 for it.
