Damn Guitarists think they can play bass!
theosd replied to metalmaniac's topic in General Discussion
I like how he has to physically restrain himself from getting too funkily down wit' it, in order to maintain his emotionless approach. The second vid you posted shows him actually seeming to enjoy himself... only the power of slap bass it seems could achieve that! -

I voted fortress, I really like the asymmetry going on there. Second would be the dolphin. I used to adore thumbs but my tastes have matured away from them I think, other than the wood they're fairly bland in my opinion.

Ok, I know the obvious answer will be the traveler 1x12, but I'm not keen on having another horn in my rig - one is plenty (a bit too much with my SR5 at the moment) but I don't think I'll be able to swap the combo for a similar quality/priced/condition combo or stack which doesn't have a horn. So yeah, I want some more headroom, and really get the most out of this great little combo so that I can use it for larger venues that my band seems to play exclusively in I want something with a full warm bottom and not too much high, that's handled by the inbuilt 12" speaker and horn of the mark bass. Would a 15 and this 12 be a good combination? I would still want punch. I spose my outer price limit would be £300 at the VERY MOST. Does anyone have any experience with using an extenion cab for their Mark Bass equipment? Thanks Theo
I do own (arguably) the least offensive variant...
My SR5 is the sexiest I've ever seen, so there! I'd quite like a matte black p/g though, for versatility...

SOLD XXX EHX Black Finger Compressor XXX SOLD
theosd replied to CPBass's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Thanks for this dude - wow, such fast delivery! =] For those who're wondering about this pedal, although I've only used it today for the first time I was rehearsing for around 5 hours straight (tired!) but what came out of this little attractive metal box was really damn impressive; especially seeing as I've never used a compressor personally and didn't really know what the settings did (that is, til I got home and checked out the simple online manual). I'm stunned at its versatility, this I already know is going to be integral to my on stage and recorded sound, such is its positive impact on my tone; I'm playing an SR5 through a Mark Bass CMD 121H and I'm loving the warm valvey colouring this pedal adds; and then there's the compression itself - simply outstanding! So versatile, I'm gonna have to spend a lot of time with this little beauty to get the best out of it. I know the best is yet to come and I'm already left speechless by the quality of this beasty. thanks again dude - a true pleasure doing business with you. -
It's a Warwick 1X15 Combo with the head removed. The Cab is in great condition. I've fitted heavy duty handles. It all works well. I was using it as an extension cab for an Ashdown 2X10 Mag combo. I've just got too lazy to carry it around and it's taking up space. Collection from Dagenham only 10 mins from Dartford Tunnel or Becton A406/A13 As I'm giving it away I do not offer any guarantee - It does work I'm only saying this to cover my A$$ You can email me or call 07957 198 339 Perry PLEASE DONT CALL TOO EARLY OR TOO LATE. I HAVE A FAMILY PLEASE RESPECT THAT
What's the power handling.
For Sale is my Electro Harmonix Black Finger. THE BLACK FINGER IS THE ONLY OPTOISOLATOR PHOTOCELL, DUAL VACUUM TUBE COMPRESSOR PEDAL ON THE MARKET! SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? It means that the Black Finger uses the same professional-grade techniques that the most revered, vintage and mega-thousand dollar, high-end studio compressors use, except that it's in the form of an affordable, compact foot pedal! Two different light sources (LED and lamp) provide distinctly different readings and offer uniquely varied compressions. One tube handles the compression stage while the other manages the gain stage. And unlike other "tube" hyped products on the market, which use 9 to 50 volts, the Black Finger's design allows a full 300 volts of swing to be utilized. This makes it a true tube compressor in every sense. Whether used as part of an effects loop or with direct guitar, bass or voice, the Black Finger will give music the type of treatment that simply cannot be achieved via plug-in emulation or with any other analog or digital product that doesn't cost thousands of dollars. The Black Finger breathes life and warmth into any musical instrument or recording and makes it sound magical. It's further proof the Electro-Harmonix is changing the way players think about their pedals. 12AC-1000 power supply included with euro adapter I'll throw in a spare EHX 12AX7 Tube A truly stonkin bass compressor. In immaculate condition with original box £85 + £8 P&P PAYPAL Preferred
Urgh!! Can I afford this!? -
Uhhh.... Crazy.

What are the best value leads you can get for bass? I'm sick of spending £10 on ones that it seems are designed to break...
Umm, sounds like you need to try a few basses out regarding your modern sound. Of my 3, not surprisingly my MIA P is the most 'old school'. The Lakky, with Aero Pups is also pretty old fashioned to my ears. The most modern sounding is the Thumb - can sound very clean with MEC's until you dig in. I thought my old Sterling was pretty modern sounding - this sohould have been very similar to your 'Ray5? If you're looking for modern/clean I think it's hard to beat a Status, though some would say that sound is now very '80's.
Status was a manufacturer I had in mind!
