1.
Tartan or pink. If you must though, red or brown tort.
Does anyone sell wood-effect ones, or even wooden ones? A maple scratchplate would be pretty cool....
 2. Yes, I would like a budget (no more than £30) stand that is solid and will hold a musicman 'ray 5. Any suggestions would be great!!
 3. Cos they haven't a clue what they're doing. Easy question. Next?
 4.
How come your Grandad's not a member in these parts? He's some quality kit to tell us about and I'll bet he's a wealth of stories to recount based on his experiences. Go bully him into signing up.
Sorry, but: No chance!!
 5. I broke 5 strings in a week before... During the summer of last year, if I recall! Could be either the humidity fluctuation or must have been a dodgy batch of rotosounds (a problem not uncommon to me!!)
 6.
Don't want to be pedantic, but there's a bit of completely understandable confusion here. The Bass Centre is the one in E1 (sometimes called Wapping). The shop in Denmark Street is The Bass Cellar. Almost inevitably, much of The Bass Centre is in the cellar, while none of The Bass Cellar is in a cellar. Still with me? Good. Anyway, they're equally rude ...
Fair point!
 7.
You betcha!!
That's the spirit.
 8.
I WILL be a bass playing Grandad in March 2008. How SCARY is that?!?! Sorry - back to topic.
Brilliant! Congrats... you gonna be active in getting the young'un onto bass before the evils of the 6 stringed beasts snatch him up??
 9.
A bass-playing Grandad. How cool is that?
# Um, it would be cool if he wasn't so miserable all the time!! But yeah, it's pretty cool, so bass is in my blood I guess you could say.
 10. Lol! Well, actually me and my uncle have an arrangement. He gets the most valuable of his double basses (£20,000+, not shown in the pictures - it's almost 250 years old and in incredible condition) and I get the most valuable Electric (£5,000+). That'll do. =]
 11. First is his 100 year old double bass... couldn't get a full picture as I was having to hold it as well as take pics on my fone, but you get the idea.... Second pics are of his '61 P and '63 J... Niiiiiice basses!! I apologise for the poor picture quality, all taken on my fone!
 12. That matching headstock: Oh yeah Icing on the cake.
 13.
Super stuff. Love it! Prefer the look of the 5 to the 4 in this case.
Yeah, I never liked the 5s because of the pickguard shape, but this one is an anomalie, it just wouldn't work in 4 string, but it looks the NUTS!! 2 days to go..... And it's MINE!! will update once I've used it a couple of times at gigs..
 14.
The balanced in is on the front above the normal input. I ran the balanced line out (non model) from the Bass Pod into that Saturday & all seemed to go fine.
Is this a recent addition? I've got to go look I don't remember there being two inputs...!!
 15. Ignore all of the above and go look at Thomann. Their own brand 'Harley Benton' basses are extraordinarily good value. I've gigged mine solidly for 3 years with no hassle and just a dodgy pot to show for it! And by solidly, i Mean on average twice a week, not including practices and rehearsals. Trust me on this. To hear examples of it in action, clicky one and clicky two. Both are old bands of mine which I used my harley 5er for! Check out the crunch on Gummy Babies track 'Stepping Stone'. Who needs a warwick!?
 16.
thats a gorgeous bass man i hate bein a student
I'm a student, and I've just splashed £700 of my loan money on a stingray 5... do it!!
 17. I'm going to have to pull out as I've just bought a stingray 5 for £700, and it's all I could ever need (for now!!)
 18.
As long as we keep our criticisms aimed at the business and not at individuals within the business than I think our issues will be listened to and hopefully acted upon.
Yes, but the individuals who've been working there when I've visited - I'm going again on thursday, I can update this - have all been highly miserable, uninterested buffoons more interested in staring at the cash register than answering your questions. Jesus, there's a million people who'd love to work there! Why employ the moodiest bunch?? No, really!!
 19. Employer: "so, what qualities can you bring to the Bass Centre?" Interviewee: "well, I'm classically trained and a right arrogant c*** who enjoys nothing more from my work day than ignoring, frustrating and being generally obnoxious to any potential customer who might pay my wages" Employer: "perfect! When can you start??" Yeah, these guys really are incredibly rude. They make a judgement of you as soon as you walk through the doors which then determines the level of rudeness they display. You're lucky to be ignored! They have a poor selection of basses in my opinion, and those that are worth looking at are harshly overpriced. Any other store on Denmark street that sells basses is more worth visiting. We should start a boycott campaign website and get someone with a bit more empathy running that place... Seriously! Worse than anything it gives a bad impression of bassists and musicians in general to anyone who may just be browsing.
 20.
I saw that one - matching headstock too. Tasty.
It's going to demote my girlfriend to something I just play with on weekends, I can just tell.
 21. Oh so my bass classifies as 'porn' huh!? That's cool
 22. One of me without my bass (these are rare!):
 23.
Sounds like it's time to get them syringed!
Seems to be the case, yeah!
 24.
Ker-ching! Well done. Not sure about that pickguard, mind... Have fun with your new toy.
I love the pickguard It sets it apart! anyway, pickguards can always be changed... I think a nice white one would go well Gonna gets me some electric blue sims leds in it as well further down the line... Oh yeah!
 25.
Go on then...how much?
£700 Including gig bag and all the bits it comes with. As new except for a MINOR finishing flaw. I'm gonna be all over it.... Like a warm flannel...
